probably one of the ONLY modern Chinese dramas I haven't felt the need to fast forward 🤭💜

This drama isn't perfect by any means but I'm 25 episodes in and am finding it a hidden gem! If nothing ridiculous happens to dramatically change my mind, I will add this to one of my fav xianxia dramas! :-)

too few episodes left... at this pace, the relationships we all want to see happen/work out won't be believable.. rushed and sudden is the only way forward :( sad panda.

not enough episodes for this to make a turnaround for me.. had such high hopes too. There's just a weird disconnect feeling for me to the characters and their choices/actions at this point. And to be honest, the plot seems super messy and yet not interesting enough at the same time. (If I'm here for the romance/angst, it's a disappointment. If I'm here for scheming/political struggle.. it's also a disappointment and character growth? Also a disappointment!) I saw some people saying they enjoyed the "school" part but for me, that felt that the weirdest/most out-of-place part in the entire drama. 😥 really wanted to like this because at first, I LOVED the Moxi and CWD. Now... meh.

I actually love Tang Dynasty dramas/clothes too.. but these all seem too thrown together/baggy/non-matching. They seem like rags even when they are not supposed to be? IDK... lol maybe I'm wrong on this one :-)

and while I'm complaining.. I kind of hate all the costumes too. There. I said it. LOL

& I'm going to be controversial here and say that not only does the plot seem weird/rocky but also the FL's "daydreams" seem out of place compared to the rest of the drama... an odd choice to insert comedy relief and I've hated them since ep1 since they made me think/set the tone of the drama to be more light-hearted... which it isn't.

I really like the idea of the leads together... but I'm going to be honest, so far their interactions have been mundane at best. We really needed to see some mutual sparks/chemistry at this point and besides the ML literally SAYING he likes the FL/her feistiness... we can't feel/see anything brewing between them at all. With the number of episodes left and what they've shown of how they've interacted together so far... a deep romance seems far-fetched and unbelievable.
