As an adaptation, it's one of the best I've ever seen! I never read the manga but I've watched the anime countless times and there were certain scenes and moments that really stuck with me that I was really looking forward to watching it in this live action adaptation. However, the scenes ended up either underwhelming or did not happen at all. There were only 2-3 scenes that lived up the excitement I was waiting for, the rest.....not so much. This is still an overall great drama of course! The casting was terrific and the acting was fantastic. I also loved how they used one of the best ending songs from the anime for their ending song. It brought back so many feels and memories! :') I just feel a bit disappointed that some scenes were not included or executed as well as it was setup in the anime. I still would recommend this drama for those that also loved the anime/manga though!
It's been a loooong while since I've watched a drama where I pretty much had a smile on my face for Every. Single. Episode. No exaggeration there. It was better than I had anticipated! Was initially going to skip this drama because the synopsis did not grab me but decided to give it a chance as I had really enjoyed watching Miles Wei in other dramas - and also because Avenuex's positive comments on it lol. If you want some easy fluff to watch to feel good, this is totally the drama to watch! :)
No unfortunately, it does not... but if you mentally prepare yourself for the bad ending, I'd say go for it as this drama was just so beautifully shot, acted and produced!
What a ride!! I absolutely enjoyed this drama, despite how it was ended. This is one of the few, oh so very few, drama that I wished there were more episodes to watch. For an already long drama (70 eps!), I would gladly sit through more. That's very rare for me to say because with most dramas, I usually can't wait for it to end around the last 5-10 episodes of it. The acting was top notch. Chen Kun and Ni Ni are just amazing actor/actress. The story, for the most part, was done really well. The production, just wow. This has got to be one of the most exquisite (expensive) dramas I've had the pleasure of watching. Truly high quality. It has been a long while since I've been addicted to a drama like this, where I couldn't wait to watch the next episode and just watch more. Very surprising as I do agree with some people saying that the plot moves slowly but at the same time, something keeps drawing me in despite the slow pace at times that I keep coming back for more! This drama just sat really, really well with me.
Just as I've finished binge watching and can't get over this drama, I found another 20 episodes to watch on YouTube on this drama's making and behind the scenes! Hopefully this will help me ease off to move to another drama haha. Fingers crossed!

Yes I totally agree!! Super satisfied with this ending. They definitely have lots of materials to work with for a second season with that last scene without it being just extra fluff!
Never had I ever felt so satisfied, at peace and happy with an open ending like this lol. I seriously hope there's a second season with the same cast and that it comes soon!

I really appreciate and love how all the characters are written in this drama - especially the female characters. I love how strong they all are in their own ways. I like how it isn't always the male characters that comes and saves the day. In fact, more often than not, it felt like it was the female characters that saves the day. Also have to add, what a great looking cast they've got here haha. I remember when I first started this drama, I wasn't too sure about it as I usually avoid dramas in this time period however, I was sold by the sheer amount of good looking men :P What a great and enjoyable drama with an amazing cast! :)

Omg thank you so much for sharing this!! I watched it on YouTube and the last episode on YouTube must have cut scenes because after they kissed with the 360 spin, it went to the end credit. Seeing how SF is still alive, I feel better now lol. Not sure how he'd survive the blast and poison but glad to see hints of him. I felt so sad for him! Yes, a second season does sound plausible especially with SF saying "I will never let you leave me" lol. If they do end up making a second season, I'd totally be in!

It was an interesting read for me :) I've only written 3 reviews despited having watched hundreds of dramas lol but this article has inspired me to write more reviews in the future. The 3 dramas I wrote a review for were because I didn't find that many to read. I, like other users, like reading the reviews to help decide whether to watch it or whether I should continue/power through it.
Aside from that, I especially like what PeachBlossomGoddess mentioned. I was disappointed/sad I didn't remember why I enjoyed or not enjoy some of the dramas that I've watched years ago. Just finished ep3 and had to come here to say that it's SO refreshing and so nice to see a different response from the FL when she gets an unexpected kiss from the ML for the first time. It wasn't the usual squealing or pushing or hitting the guy away but an actual honest "That was fun. Can we do it again?" Like she evaluated how she felt being kissed right there and then and decided she liked it hahaha. Omg I love it. And this is such an old drama. How come they don't write FL reactions like this or similar to this more often, especially in the more recent ones!?
