Theory based on the latest 2 eps:9 - I am 101% that the current qianyi is an impostor.10- and i change my mind…
Yeah, I feel like YZ is falling for the new QY too but because he had such deep obsession/"deeply in love" with the real QY, he'll probably feel torn when he finally sees real QY lol.
Fresh start with XD (new QY) VS. lots of history without a positive ending with real QY.
Theory based on the latest 2 eps:9 - I am 101% that the current qianyi is an impostor.10- and i change my mind…
Here's my theory...
YZ loves QY deeply and is obsessed with her so when he heard her say she wants to break up, he couldn't accept the fact. Her fall down the cliff was accidental and when the avalanche happened, her body couldn't be found and he must have saw an opportunity for a do-over on this other girl (fake QY) and thought it was the perfect replacement. So he somehow orchestrated everything to make sure it goes according to his plan on having things "back to before" - which includes tampering with DNA. He hired an investigator to find the real QY and it doesn't seem like there's any trail on that so far. Obviously the real QY is still alive so we'll have to wait to see how she survived and what she experienced. As for the fake QY's memories/nightmare, it could be purely coincidental that something also happened to her on the snowy cliff and in her nightmare it was actually her uncle that pushed her. At least that's what I'm guessing based on these first 10 episodes and the trailer lol.
I think her "husband" messed with the DNA test. I am still trying to figure out whether he is good or not.
Yup, he must have - just not sure how he did it, but he did. I feel like there's no "bad" characters - at least in the main cast. He's not the villain but he's definitely also not a good pure prince charming lol. He's human, just turned up the dial on greed, fear, and obsession for dramatization (although I'm pretty sure there's people like that out in the real world...!).
For YZ, his love for QY turned unhealthy and twisted. From the most recent episode (10), I can tell that he loves QY deeply and is obsessed with her so when he heard her say she wants to break up, he couldn't accept the fact. Her fall down the cliff was accidental and when the avalanche happened, her body couldn't be found and he must have saw an opportunity for a do-over on this other girl (fake QY) and thought it was the perfect replacement. My question has been answered in ep 10. He knew!He actually was the one that made the choice knowing she is not…
I'm suspicious of the doctor too although I don't think he's Mr. Lavender. I mean when she met up with Qi Fan, he had lavender pinned to his shirt and pointed at it when they first met up so I thought it was clear that he's Mr. Lavender? Did I miss something else?
The question is if he knows or he doesn't know. If he does, what is his motives? I meant he loves her so much,…
I feel like he knows more than we're let on. We just don't know yet how much he knows and what he planned. I think it's totally possible that he just wants to pretend she is still next to him. Just little details here and there gives me the feeling that he knows but is choosing to overlook like when initially she wanted to learn the violin, I read his expression as "yeah, you won't be able to because you're not the real her".
I believe she is not the original Qianyi. I wonder if they did reconstructive surgery to make her look like her.…
I love that!! Totally didn't think about how the tree symbolizes that until you mentioned it! Agreed, it's beautiful and full of life but trapped. It's well cared for and loved but confined like the love he has for her.
I like your breakdown and also agree that she's not the original Qian Yi! Just wanted to mention that your first…
No problem! 🤗
I think it's safe to say that there are 2 of them (a real one and not real one) since there's 2 different names under Victoria Song's name on MDL (and you can clearly see there's two of them from the trailer, which after watching 8 eps makes more sense haha).
Can't wait to see what we can find out from the new episodes and reading/discussing more theories!! ðŸ¤
I was thinking the same thing! Except it doesn't really explain why she has the nightmare of being pushed off…
I still feel that there's something else that we haven't guessed yet because what are the chances that she was there, witnessed that accident and also from China speaking Chinese and same size as the real Qian Yi?? Lol logically there's still pieces to the puzzle we haven't matched yet! I feel like You Ze did something else? It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds that's for sure!
In my opinion at that time when the snow accident You Ze accidentally pick the wrong girl..the girl who got save…
I was thinking the same thing! Except it doesn't really explain why she has the nightmare of being pushed off the cliff though? Unless she witnessed it and not experienced it...
The moment Qianyi suffers from allergy , i knew it she’s not the same person but maybe i’m wrong1st in ep…
I like your breakdown and also agree that she's not the original Qian Yi! Just wanted to mention that your first point though, the flashback was not hers. It's Qi Fan's flashback/memory we saw of her on the train dressed like she grew up an orphan from the poor village so this memory is of the real Qian Yi which only Qi Fan can show us at this point.
LOL totally did not notice the bg music around the tree and water. I'll start paying more attention to that detail in future episodes! XD
I also enjoy this type of drama where you have to pay attention and do some guessing! Super exciting - it's been a while since I binged watch an ongoing drama like this!!
This was a very decent watch for a short web drama! I was pleasantly surprised! Though I must say the actor for the emperor did a much, much better job than the general in my opinion. It's weird that both ML and SML's actors are not listed in the cast.....lol. The 2 that are listed are only minor side characters.
"How far are you willing to go? Just dating?" - Ji Ho's colleague "The endgame. She'll be the last woman in my life" - Ji Ho
Oh my goodness, I just died after this killer response from Ji Ho regarding his colleague's concern about his relationship situation. I just had to come here and drop my favourite line so far before I continue. Did that line get anyone else too?
Omg that ending in episode 15.... My heart dropped when FL points out the mask is crying and not smiling......... I mean I knew it was too fast - too good to be true but my god, that really was some short lived happiness and the way the happiness was cut was not what I expected lol. Oh my heart...
Never have I ever watched a period/historic drama that made me feel so relaxed and... safe(?) throughout this entire watching journey I just went on. There were no unnecessary miscommunications; everyone was smart in their own ways and consistent to their character setup and it was just so easily enjoyable and lovable. I do see what some people mean when they said it lacked a certain spark of excitement - I felt that too but I needed some calm sweet period piece to watch and this was perfect. :)
May I discuss this point with you? I'm disagree with your view on FL. I think she is tries her best to trust on…
Thank you for sharing/explaining about the script and other acting details! Yes exactly, the ML was a more consistent character whereas the FL wasn't. Despite the frustrations I have with the characters, I still really appreciate and adore the actors/actresses in this drama. They did well with what they were given.
I finished the drama today and I was actually okay with episode 35's ending compared to the alternative happy ending of episode 36. It's an unpopular opinion but I thought the ending we were given in episode 35 was actually quite beautifully done. Episode 36 felt like a cop out fluff just to satisfy CP and happy ending. It was not satisfying for me as it did not explain at all how or why the FL woke up which felt unfair to the story.....lol if you get what I mean.

Thank you for your point of view! I just have a hard time believing that with her character setup, she would have so little trust in XY. I understand that he did not give her much info (lots of unspoken truths) but based on the previous episodes, the lead up before this arc, I felt the drama was leading the viewers to believe that they've reached a place where they both understand the type of person each are and that they have true feelings for each other (which was why CY decided to leave for the palace because she doesn't want XY to be put in a difficult decision). So having that understanding, how can she doubt their relationship still with the incoming of NX? It doesn't fit her character, it's inconsistent with what we come to know of her and where their relationship stands. I just find it hard to understand why she was so stuck on XY and NX's past when XY clearly told her that she has nothing to worry about. At this point of their relationship (even separated), she shouldn't have doubted or misunderstood him because she knows what type of person XY is (which was why she fell for him in the first place). XY's not the type of person to just forget those that helped him or hide relationships/play/or have feelings for one person while with another person. I do agree that the kind CY is frank and honest, as that is the setup of her character, and her character isn't dumb either but when it came to NX, it's like all that setup was thrown out the window and she only believed what NX was saying, disregarding what she has come to know of XY - which to me is out of character and inconsistently written.
OMFG. I am so, so frustrated by the story right now. More specifically, what the FL is doing. I'm on episode 27 and I am just so mad and annoyed at how stupid the FL. Why do the scriptwriters or whoever has the say to how the story goes/characters do, like to make FL be so naive and dumb in scenarios like this!? From all the things that happened between the FL and ML, it was pretty clear that they've built up trust as they both had a chance to see deep down the kind of character they are and also had a chance to show their feelings to each other. Yet suddenly with the incoming of Na Xi, all that trust and solid ground that was built previously is all suddenly thrown out the window.... !?!?
Please be consistent with your characters. What's so maddening is that I actually really like this drama and was totally invested in it but with these "turn of events", it's so....illogical. I am so disappointed.
I hope FL can go back to the character she used to be, soon. It's hard to watch these episodes, this arc.
