Why is such a young queen so unhealthy? Foul play?
I think its because the empress dowager keeps humiliating her for not bearing any sons, coupled with the fact that her husband ignores her and entrusts all her duties to the prev. emperor's woman who is a commoner and the rumors about the king's orientation and their unconsummated marriage, she probably has to deal with a lot of stressful and humiliating situations on a daily basis for years which probably led to her current situation.

I dont think anyone has anything to gain by poisoning her though..I think its mainly because she was a beloved daughter of an official and after marriage she was subjected to humiliation which she probably wasnt able to cope with.

I think my main problem with how the FL’s character is portrayed so far is that whenever she is with the king,…
Personal opinion but i think one of the issues is the level of difference in acting between the ml and fl, like EVRY SINGLE LINE THE ML SAYS IS SO POWERFUL (i get literal chills) and her lines just seem lackluster in comparison
Replying to Dr_Sunshine Feb 12, 2024
If I can make a prediction for how this will end its that the FL will succeed in getting the ML dethroned, however…
He definitely does not have a thing for the queen, hes literally 9 and shes in her 20s 😭😭😭...I think its more likely that he considers her to be his mother as his biological mother left him when the current king succeeded and the queen is the only maternal figure around him, as most of the people there either hate him (dowager and her relative) or see him as a tool and she is the only one that truly cares for his well being, I think the significance of the look the dad gave is that he could consider becoming an ally of the grand prince and if he was ever to succeed his daughter (queen) could become the dowager due to their close relationship

I guess what I don’t like about FL is, that she is a big hypocrite. I understand her grudge against the King…
I can't understand why she doesn't try to understand his point of view when she claims to be in love with him, back then he was under a lot of pressure as he just ascended to the throne and a lot of people were monitoring his every move and he had to make a fair and unbiased judgement as her crime was his first judgement as king AND at the the time HE JUST LOST HIS OLDER BROTHER so it makes sense that he couldnt fully think of ways to save her other than the quickest way...She always said that myung-ha was a bad person who was inconsiderate towards others but she trusts him with so much and i feel like she just decided to get revenge on a whim while she was injured and hurting after hongjang's death but never thought it through or analysed his feelings before

when the king said that he couldn't protect what he truly wanted to protect she could have easily used her "brilliant" brain to put the pieces together.

I would've liked it if her revenge was solely to seduce him, make him regret and kill him off. Simple like that,…
i was just thinking of a scenario where she could have exposed her true identity from the beginning and risen to a higher position in the court (she is the daughter of a powerful official who was the teacher of the current emperor and sacrificed himself for the nation,And she has the support of 2ml too , she is a great baduk player, she has the affection of the emperor) and she could have gotten complete revenge by not only killing him but also by ruling the kingdom as the regent with her own child/grand prince as the future emperor...This would make her a true cold blooded scheming fl

I really want to love and enjoy this drama because the ML is so great, the leads have chemistry and the plot is…
I think that from the beginning she never had any real intention to do anything to him, she is just using hongjang's death as an excuse to get closer to him and they keep bringing up her old memories of the tragedy but the next second she's completely infactuated with him.

She is an amazing baduk player but she wasn't able to understand that at the moment that he sentenced them he was under a lot of pressure (a lot of eyes were watching over him) as he just became the king and he also had emotional baggage as he just lost his brother.

I think the main issue is that the writers tried to make her revenge something forgettable so that their romance could proceed quickly, if he had been responsible for something worse she would likely have been more scheming and focused on her revenge which wouldnt leave room for romance.

i feel like with each episode we get more instances of the prev. emperor's son displaying qualities of a future emperor, im sure that even if ml and fl get a happy or sad ending ( even if they have kids ) he is likely going to be the next emperor

Just finished episode 1, I was too curious and caved. I think I can get behind the female lead dressing up as…
I remember hearing someone say that most actresses arent willing to look "ugly" for their role (don't know if its applicable for this show but in general) , like if they went for less soft looking makeup and went for a little more natural look it would have been a huge improvement.

Title Captivating the King Spoiler
For me, the king knows that Mong-woo is a woman; maybe he even knows that she is his master's daughter. Also I…
I dont think he knew about her identity as his master's daughter but i do think that there must be a deeper reason as to why he left hongjang to die, im not sure if shes alive because (correct me if im wrong) there was a scene where the people who saved the fl took hongjang's body... but the one person i think may actually be alive is fl's father like we only know he surrenders right?(i literally dont remember the details) so he could have been tortured but still alive and he could come back and secretly help the ml
On Captivating the King Feb 10, 2024
Yk one thing i still don't understand is that in the years after her father sacrificed himself for the ml+nation, the ml never once went to apologize/thank or meet the fl, like considering the fact that fl's dad was his teacher and someone who gave up his life to protect him, why wouldn't he go to meet the daughter of someone he is indebted to?

Also I understand that fl's dad left for war and left her alone for many years but why do none of the officials know what she looks like? Did her dad literally not invite anyone to his house except 2ml and does she not have any other friends who are daughters of nobles?

Title Captivating the King Spoiler
the repercussions of the fl being pregnant could be HUGE:
1. Either the fl dies with the baby
2. the ml dies and her child becomes the new emperor and she becomes the dowager/regent
3. her identity as a woman and the official's daughter could be revealed and she could replace the current queen
4. The emperor abdicates his title and the prev emperor's son becomes the new emperor and the ml and fl live in some village where they teach baduk
5. The most angsty ending i can think of is the ml finding about her revenge/or some conspiracy and then executing her and later finding out she was pregnant/innocent then i feel like he would probably suicide or something

jungwon was programmed by se eun's parents with all of her previous emotions/relationships etc. like a doll and although she didnt exist per se she still held se eun's will within her, which is why she didnt kill yunseo and junhee and she even sacrificed herself to save yunseo from the game

Episode 12 = Da Beom vs everyone and Jung Wong is not dead. No backstory or explanation?
either jungwon or da beom have to be dead by morning because otherwise the main leads can't vote out a mafia (unless jungwon votes for da-beom as well and gets killed at night for not executing anyone)

Wtf, why can they kill more people at night???? Then they could have done this at day 1 and all the maffia would…
I think it was because they didnt get unanimous agreement for the mass killing but the rules made it clear from the beginning that only one side would survive, smh to the writers
