I kind of agree with the second thing you said.

That scene may actually happened but what portrays is Ahn Joo Ho desire to break free from this ill-mindset that military has. For me is more symbolic so I don’t believe he actually deserted. He was in the middle of the military camp anyway, they could easily catch him.

I understand that most of you liked this show... but I'm looking for comments on the negatives you found, if any.…
I have observed many comments and talked to many people so here are some negative things

People didn’t like
1) the sci-fi part
2) that it’s 20 episodes
3) that it has many characters
4) that it’s complicated and you have to think a lot
5) the characters personalities
6) that there are not many good people in the drama

The above things personally didn’t bother me

7) There are some certain things that people didn’t like about the plot, I won’t tell them because I don’t want to spoil.
(And yes personally I like everything about the plot)

Don’t watch it if
1) you love to watch romcoms and not thrillers, this show is very dark and raw (many eps are rated 18+)
2) you are looking for a light drama, because it’s not

You may find some things ridiculous but everything is explained in the end.

What I personally didn’t like was some mistakes in the direction, they had problems with the shootings and on the last episodes it shows a little.

This is the best review I've come across. Who knew there could be an analogy between mouse and "The wizard of…
Thank you for your kind words!

Just as the cross-killer was killing according to fairytales so the screenwriter wrote Mouse according to a fairytale too.

I have observed that screenwriter Choi Ran loves to involve fairytales in her work (for example “God’s gift: 14 days”). Thus, there’s a high chance this analogy with “The wizard of OZ” is actually true.

You’re welcome I’m glad you both understand the story better now. Mouse is definitely a complicated story that you have to think and remember a lot of things. I also had some questions when I was watching it and others helped me a lot to understand the story better.

First of all I like your review, everything you’re saying is on point.
I just like to point out that in the special episode “Mouse: the last” there are some extra scenes of episode 20. In one of these scenes we learn that Shin Sang’s daughter has the psychopath gene. So the gene is inheritable to women as well.

It’s okay that it wasn’t clear to you. That’s why we’re here and discuss with each other. At first it wasn’t very clear to me either but other people who were watching the drama help me a lot to understand it and I’m grateful to them.

I totally agree, it is a very difficult drama to watch with all those things and names going around.
I believe you understand the plot, you said though that you didn’t understand what the plot try to deliver, like why did the writer wrote Mouse.
In the background link it’s the reason why the writer wrote Mouse and what she wanted to do.
In my review I have analyzed some of the symbolisms the drama had and some other things for example about the drama’s moral compass.

And you’re welcome! I hope if you check them both out you’ll find something that’s interesting for you ^^

About the ages

- Bareum& Yohan were born in 1995. The exact date of Bareum's birth is January 26th of 1995 (you can see it on his grave).
-So in 2021 Bareum & Yohan are 26 y.o. (international age) or 27 y.o. (korean age)

-Bong-yi's accindend is based on a true case, the Cho Doo-soon case ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cho_Doo-soon_case ). The accident happened back in 2008 and the victim was 8 years old. So Bong-yi is either born on 2000 or 2001 (we don’t know if the age is international or korean).

-the victim was treated at the hospital for 8 months which means that she missed at least 1 school year. That’s why Bong-yi was still at high school at 2020 when she was 19 or 20 y.o. (international age).

-At 2008 when the Bong-yi’s accident happened, Bareum & Yohan were 13 y.o. (international age) or 14 y. o. (korean age). The one who saved her and gave her a piggy back ride was Yohan and not Bareum.

About the pregnants

We know that the 2 mothers (the wife of the head hunter and the other one who her husband died as we see at the first ep) swapped babies (yohan & bareum). They had met by chance at the hospital, one of them had been working there as a nurse (Yohan's mother). They talked and agreed to swap the babies. They also agreed to kill each other's baby in case that the kid become a monster. A mother can't kill her own kid so with the swap that wouldn't be a problem. They also lived in the same neighborhood to keep an eye on each other. That's why we see Jae Hoon been strangled on ep 16 by his real mother and later on by his "fake" mother.

Johan’s real mother remarried and gave birth to jae min (the boy) and jae hee (the girl). The only member of his family who was alive it’s jae hee. All the others were murdered by the boxer who was working for OZ.

About Choi Hong Soo

Her brother is dead. Head hunter used his blood to paint the walls at her family's house (that scene is at ep 4 I think). At that time they hadn't found the girl and the kept searching. They found another girl and they assumed that it was Hong Soo. Head Hunter never forced her to work with him, she was a scared little kid who did everything she could to survive. She is not the only child who is been used by bad people to lure victims.

About psychopath gene

Yohan was tested positive to psychopath gene but he wasn't a psychopath but a genius. That's why he was the one of the 2 kids who were monitored by OZ. At episode 1 after Head Hunters mother's child tested positive to psycho-gene we see Daniel Lee giving a file to a car. After that we see the 2 pregnants talking and saying about their kids been positive to psycho-gene. At episode 19 or 20 (I don't remember) we see that the person that took that file at the first episode was the leader of OZ Choi Young Shin [Government official].

About OZ

OZ was created by Choi Young Shin [Government official] after the law about the fetuses didn't pass at episode 1. It is mentioned many times after episode 15 that OZ consisted of people who wanted psychopaths to be gone. Many members were family of the head hunter's victims (the boxer for example). You can see all the OZ members and all the relationships of mouse here https://mobile.twitter.com/Yelendyle/status/1395763443404320773 .

About the mouse (the animal)

The mouse in the series is more of a symbolism, so it's kind of a surreal creature.
If you want a logical explanation, the mouse that was given to Daniel Lee is actually alive (we see it special episode Mouse: the last). So maybe that's the mouse little Bareum have found.
I don't have much to say at this topic because I also believe that's a surreal creature.

I think I've answered all your questions about the plotholes. Sorry for the long comment.

yesPersonally, I gradually began to like Mouse as the story unfolded and I loved it after episode 15
I wouldn’t say that it’s slow paced, because a lot of things are happening in every episode, it has suspense.

I was referring to the mystery mainly. The more we were getting closer to the truth the more I liked it, because everything little by little made sense.
