I dont know what your point of view is and that completely negativees my perspective. the Queen and honglim had forceful sex, hd overwhelming lust which developed into love. The other plot is the lovestory of the King and Honglim. The king groomed Honglim sice he was a child. He becomes the chief of his bodyguards, his companion and lover.

After Honglim was forced to have sex with the Queen, he distanced himself from the King earning the vengeance of the King out of jealousy, castrating him and killing all his friends and displayed their skulls to entice Honglim to come back to the palace.

Honglim went to the palace to die. Honglim said that the King cut his roots. He also thought that the Queen died ( with his perfume sachet on displayed on the Queen' s maid, together with the head of his Honglims friend).

Honglim explicitly said that he loves the Queen and the Queen loves Honglim. Honglim explicitly said that Honglim does not love the King. Do we have to infer something implicit on the action of Honglim ( the last scene where he turned and looked at the King and give meaning to it). Thats probably the director's intention to create confusion on the mind of the viewer.

Reading some reviews of this movie, I came to the conclusion that the last scene was a create" chaos" as you stated. Some infer that he want to have one last look of the King because he was lying when he said that he never love the King. Some said to say thank you for not killing the Queen, some say to bid farewell to the man ( the King) who give him everything. We can different interprretation of it depending on several factors ( your background, values your culture). As they say, theway we interpret things depends on where we sit in a society . My perception of the lastscene maybe different from the LBTQA community because I am not one of them.

You are probably disputing my perspective because you did
not agree with the way the movie went along. Some were disappointed that Honglim stated that he never loved the
King, ( he explicitly said during the one on one sword fight at
the end of the movie) that never loved the King. I will go along the perspective that what was said in the movie was the reality of this movie. I will interret literally.

Honglim: 1.I never loved you ( the King) even once
2. I loved theQ ueen- he said it 2-3 x times when the
King asked for it to repeat what he said. Honglim repeated that he loves the Queen
3. Honglim said the King lead him to love ( which I interpreted as love which is the Queen; he has only 2 love, one the King and the Queen). So when Honglim told the King that the King lead him to love I assumed it was the Queen.

Anyway, this is my perception and my reality. So disputing it is probably useless because as I said we filter information interpret things because of our personal background, education, values. You and I dont have different interpretations of the feelings of Honglim. So be it.


Honglim said that King lead him to love ( I interpreted it as leading to his love i.e, the Queen). Those who loved BL thougth that this a BL story and so disappointed that it was not true love ( as "inlove") between the King and Honglim. This movie reinforces the belief that it is harder to find true love in LBQTA community.

His feeingfor the King is loyalty and gratitude. He was groomed since he was probably 12 and he was a very loyal person .

so many specuations whom Hong Lim loves more: the King or the Queen. My pers[pective is that HL loves the Queen more than the King(1) after the consumation nights, he was musings abiut the Queen that disturb his sleep
( 2) he was confused or bewildered about his feelings and he ran away making excuses (3) small things like taking a peek on the Queen while she was praying without anyone noticing, giving honeysuckle tea when she was sick, the perfume sachet ( 4) HL began to distance himself from the advances of the King after tose cnsumation nights (3) going to the Queen on brothers home for the a night trysts with the Queen ( and look at that eyes of HL while having sex with the Queen; sad but unale to control it. HL knew that by seeing the Queen on those stolen moments means death ( as exemplified by the first scene, Hae Baek running with a maid ). The power of lust ( eventaully turn to love) was overpowering for him and he cant control it.

I have rewatched this movie several times. The more I watched, the better it gets. I was looking for facial expressions on subsequent watch. I thought Jo In Sung and SoJi Hyo ( Queen) did well especially Joo Jin Mo.

really liked this movie. Some of audience thought that the explicit sex scenes are unnecessary long and aplenty. From my perpsective, the narrative needs it. It showed the changes in the emotions of the main leads mainly the FL and ML from apprehension to fully enjoying each other. One of my favorites.

my theory - the husband is the one who saved her from the mountain. the brother is the one who tied the shoelace of the teacher( thats the reason why the husband reacted to the kiss, he was not used to it while she was used to the wife's kissing him and intimate moments). The last scene before the credits is Junho waiting for the brother, The last scene before the credits The reaction from the brother was like the first time meeting her, sense of wonder probably felt in love ( secret love) brother took identity of the husband but the husband showed himself making the FL confused ( she left him the cafe then he was gone ( tryimg to wipe himself of coffee stains) then husband showed up with gifts and formal attire ) . The husband went to the bridge wanting to die and does not want to go down with the brother. The husband survived and took brothers identity. ( he was in the mountain husband loved the mountain as evident by the painting on his office of the mountain). He does not want to go back to the wife because he thought that the husband lost the wife ( as evident by her passionate lovemaking whom the wife thought was the brother in his apartment). Also at the mountain where the man was in the wheelchair pay attention the hair and the brooding.

The creators of this drama meant to confuse viewers about the storyline. It rationalises what the FL did ( sex outside the marriage) which was wrong ( in any culture), It was meant that if the viewer was confused of who between the twins did what or whom the FL loved etc., then the FL was justified with her confusion and also justifies her extramarital sex. It was cop out and I did not like it. This my perspective and it is a conservative one, whoever save the FL and her soulmate, she was not justified in doing what she did. She was married and I knew she was lonely or sad but she succumbed to temptation easily. I knew it was probably because of the brother who lied and confused her but STILLL she was married.

for those wanting to save time dont watch. it is crazy writing, all angst and circuitous merry go around of main characters.. the storyline has so many flaws, writers threw all things in the plot without rhyme and reason, amnesia, crazy in laws, suicides, lifethreatening diseases, crazy and clingy second leads, Never ending angst without any respite.

it was probably over rated because of LMH which we know is quite popular since BOF. I dont dislike him, decent actor.

Why do this writers think that piling up these unfortunate events ( tragedy, debts because of hospital bills etc )to the FL will gain sympathy from the audience. These narratives have been done a million times in kdrama, leading to the FL getting rescued by the ML. I think it was lazy writing and some are gushing over the story line.

I believed this drama is over rated. There are so many plot holes . FL was written as annoying, PMY acting was also annoying In the end the one who buried the whole premise of the revenge plot did not get his punishment . ie. the president. a young and enthusiastic ( and annoyingly naïve) prosecutor got killed, Shit writing.

the reason I dont like watching medical dramas is because writers dont research or if they do they dont research quite well and it destroys my enjoyment of it. Sometimes I get angry.

enjoyed the series for the acting and the piano playing classical music but the series writers should hire some medical expertise that needed it. I.e., the grandmother with dementia which was essential for the story to move on. The grandmother with late stage dementia is still living after 14 years which was next to impossible,

lesson learnt
- need for better communication skills and being truthful. If the brother jin gook (JG)has talked to them about their situation then the tragedy could have been averted. The leads then have informed decision on how to go about their emotions .

I think JG has unresolved guilt which was not warranted. As a veteran police officer, those should have been resolved with time. I understood his guilt when he was younger( quite young then and not experienced. As a veteran police officer, he was too soft and kind. He was dealing with a murderer ( killing his wife that ML father should protect as per patriarchal standards). It was self-defense and should have forgiven himself for that so that he can go on living,
