I actually think they are doing a terrible job at the way they portray Kou compared to the manga. They took out…
that’s the thing with kou’s character is that we give him a lot of leeway bc we know him across different adaptations. but judging kou solely on the way he’s presented here I do think it’s fair to call him out on his indecisiveness that inadvertently hurt futaba. I’m also referring to kou as a whole up until now rather than just from this last episode. it’s definitely clearer where he stands in ep 5. but I thought the push and pull started back with the classroom hug where he was clearly not certain what he wanted to do with Narumi but also didn’t want to let go of futaba. what prompted him to try to make her waver was bc he knew she moved on with touma. appreciate your input! I think it’s been nice to have a discussion where everyone has a slightly different take on each of the characters. I personally don’t think any of them are inherently bad in this version which makes them more believable actually. touma’s more mild portrayal might be getting under people’s skin might be due to the fact that we’re used to having a clear distinction between first and second leads.
I’ve seen all the ao haru ride adaptations and I’ll just be commenting on this version as a stand alone rather than what the characters were like in prev versions. from all the episodes out thus far, Touma isn’t a bad person. a lot of people are saying he’s manipulative but I think it’s a bit harsh for this version of his character. to me he’s a boy giving his best shot at someone he likes esp after witnessing her be strung along by another boy who clearly had no intention (at that moment) to be with her. as viewers we’re able to sympathize with Kou bc we get to see his POV but it also shouldn’t diminish the pain he’s put Futaba through. the boy truly messed up there. do I think he’s toxic and manipulative in his own rights ? I probably wouldn’t go that far. he’s super flawed and is still learning on how to regulate his emotions and appropriately express them. but I personally think it’s wrong of him to keep up the pushing and pulling with futaba only when he felt threatened by touma’s presence. In this recent episode he forced a difficult decision on futaba (asking her to choose him so they can finally be on sync) but he clearly couldn't do that when he was faced against that decision. Futaba remains the best character in this show. I'm so happy she put her foot down and said no because it shows that she respects herself and refuses to be a pushover when a bone is tossed her way. She also sets clear boundaries with him yet is still there consistently for him as a friend. I know they'll get together in the final episode and it's a shame that it's so rushed
Was not expecting much going in but this show is surprisingly funny and endearing. It's definitely tropey and the comedy is over the top but it works pretty well for me. To me this show is like a strange mixture of barbie and ready player one. Binged the first 3 eps and had to stop myself from finishing it in one sitting. Hopefully the ending won't disappoint
I think the mom being upset with LYY for something he did as a preteen is a little absurd? plus what he did wasn’t even that bad. her family’s reaction to him is low key hilariously unrealistic
I'm still not 100% convinced from what has been shown so far that jinwoo likes moeun enough for her to be his last love. That statement he made felt more like he was too tired to find someone else after her rather than him liking her so much that he hopes she's his last. I feel like the writers haven't given us enough variety of their time together to see their bond grow and they still feel strangely distant at times.
I can't say I want adult jinwoo and SK to get back together but their youth days had way stronger of writing than jinwoo x moeun unfortunately..
this cast was wasted on such a bad script but I’m at least happy to get this pairing. I hope they collaborate on another project with better writing and directing
absolutely adored this movie. I was so scared of it being a disappointment like the someday or one day movie but was glad to have enjoyed it a lot. it’s not the movie I was expecting to get but I didn’t mind how thr movie turned out. I think you can definitely watch it as a stand-alone movie but all the emotions and the ending will drive home even harder if you’ve seen the drama. I really really hope they make a season 2 now that the movie is such a box office hit. I’m not ready to let go of wanxing ðŸ˜
As someone who adores park eun bin since her age of youth days, I can't say I'm enjoying her performance in this drama or the writing of the drama.. ): The character feels like a caricature and the drama itself is pretty tropey without nailing execution to make the trope fun to watch. Park eun bin and Chae jong hyeop definitely have enough chemistry but the drama isn't really giving them enough space to develop. Sometimes I feel like they'd rather develop the older brother's pining storyline more than the actual couple and am definitely not enjoying the trope of 2 brothers loving the same girl. Why not make WH love them both as an older brother and meet someone suitable in the process?? The best thing about this production is them making it a 12 episode drama bc the writing is too weak to flesh out 16 eps.
this show has all the tropes but it's pretty satisfying and exactly what I'm in the mood for. The one thing I wish was different was if they gave more room to develop the lead's relationship. They still feel so distant despite acknowledging their mutual feelings.

the child actor looks so much younger than 16 😂
