Was this really a BL? When one of a pair actually, literally views being kissed by his boyfriend, or fiance, or sort-of- baby-daddy, as punishment, is that really a romance?
He’s not flamboyant because he’s gay... Clearly his brothers and other characters in the series are gay/bi…
He didn't say he was flamboyant because he was gay - he said he was flamboyantly gay. Actually he hasn't said he's gay or shown any interest in men, so he could be flamboyant and straight, but there's a zero percent chance of a BL doing that. That would be cool, though.
I'm curious: Do the majority of commenters here feel that episode 2 was funny?I feel badly for the actor playing…
No, I didn't. There were a few things that were funny - I did snicker at the dead fish - but mostly it was too slapstick. My problem with the brother is that he wasn't flamboyant enough. If you're going to do flaming, then go big or go home. Overall it was too tonally dissonant with the first episode, the bodyguard rules didn't make much sense (who would want the job?), the inconsistencies, etc., and it was just too sloppy. I think Miracle of Teddy Bear and Rak Diao are funny - sharp and disciplined writing.
I can't lie - I haven't watched this since I think Ep 2 or 3, but I watched Part 1 of this ep because of the thumbnail. Zee is so f#$%ing hot. You know what does it? Well, besides the abs, face, pecs, & biceps, is that he really... Oh - I forgot - and the lats, shoulders, that V-shaped torso... anyway, it's that he looks like he's into it. He's breathing really hard, he looks like he wants to throw Kuea down and you-know-what him, and, well, Frenching.
But then they had that completely stupid conversation. "I told you that I DON'T love you because I didn't want to say 'I love you' lightly." What?!? Why not "I told you 'I hope you get cancer!' because I didn't want to tell you how important your health is to me lightly." Who writes this dialog?
I like what you said about BDSM - first of all, it doesn't shock any of us. Second, it doesn't make you a psychopathic serial killer if you're a Dom, nor does it make you a victim with Stockholm syndrome if you're a sub.
He actually drank 6 glasses of champagne. Not just two. U can re-watch and see that he cleared an entire tray.…
I like that he doesn't think things through - I'm fine with that. But things still have to make sense. For example, either he has a high alcohol tolerance or he doesn't. Which is it? Based on Ep 1, he has an extremely high tolerance - based on Ep 2, he has an extremly low alcohol tolerance.
Did you see the bit closer? He drank all the glasses on the serving tray, it looked like there was about 5-6 glasses…
Have you ever had champaigne? I can assure you that even 6 glasses of it will have much less impact on you than that whole row of shots he chugged the previous ep. And as I said, it's just an example. There wasn't any one thing that was too much, it was just too many things added together. I don't care how fantastic a premise is - if you told me Kinn's father is a ghost and the older brother has an identical twin who's a librarian with telepathic powers, I'd be fine with it. But people still have to act like people and be subject to the rules of nature, like it takes 5 minutes to strangle someone, not 5 seconds, you can't have a hand-to-hand fight with half a dozen professional killers after drinking a ton of shots, etc. Smaller 'violations' like the fish dying are fine - that's the sort of humor I laughed at.
When you ignore your own rules (i.e. he can drink a lot and still function) just to reach a plot point (he passes out after barely drinking enough to even get drunk), then it takes me out of the story. This series appears to have a serious plot and themes, so there's a degree of realism it needs. We're already asked to accept that BL characters don't sweat not matter how heavy and long the exertion, their hair is perfect when they wake up in the morning, Porsche can have 30-minute battle with thugs while wearing all black and not getting so much as a smudge on his clothes, everyone get's punched in the face constantly and never get more than a little red mark at the corner of their mouth that can be entirely healed by being dabbed with a q-tip., etc. Is there a line anywhere?
I totally loved the episode, but I did find it unbelievable that Porsche was that drunk after a few glasses of…
Or someone could have slipped something in his drink, or something. I don't have a problem with comedy or outrageousness, but there was just too much in this ep, to the point I was too taken out of the story to enjoy it. He can be a smartass, but he needs to be a smart smartass. He's more of a dumbass right now.
He actually drank 6 glasses of champagne. Not just two. U can re-watch and see that he cleared an entire tray.…
Why are you capitalising havn't read the book? If you have to read a book to undrstand a series, then the series is a failure. Porsche in a day peed in a fountain and killed expensive fish, set the building on fire, had a public fight with his own subordinates, got drunk while working as a bodyguard, lost sight of the person he's guarding who almost got killed, assaulted a boy, morally insulted a crime family, argued with his boss in front of outsiders, and they didn't fire him? He's a wrecking ball, not a character. There's a point where it's just silliness. If this is a comedy, then it's funny, but it seems to think it's a drama.

Not as much as that huge row of shots he chugged last ep. Even if he had 5 glasses, that's not nearly enough for him to pass out. And in any case, that was just an example - the entire epsiode was so absurd and slapstick that it became a silly comedy instead of a drama/romance.
I'm sorry to say it, because I've really liked this series so far, but that was terrible, and very unpleasant to watch. I left it for last, but now I have to go rewatch Rak Diao Ep 8 again to clear my palate.
There was way too much negative energy in this - I'm getting tired of Pai's repetitive hostility, and the actress playing Nanming is doing a great job, but she's so awful she ruins the tone of the show.
On top of this, nothing really happened this ep and it was boring. I had it set on 2x and toward the end just starting skipping ovr things. I'm really disappointed, and I really hope this returns to the sweet show it's been. If Nanming is going to be an evil saboteur all the way through, I'm really not interested.
That was a bit too silly for me. I know Porsche is supposed to be a bad-boy, but getting drunk while working? And he drank 20 shots in a row last episode and could have sex and a marial arts battle with 5 people, but here 2 glasses of champaigne do him in? And if you can knock someone out by putting your hand around his throat for 5 seconds, you're better off with a small child guarding you - he can at least punch them in the balls.
The problem is that when everything is ridiculous, it just becomes tiring, and and then things that should stick out don't. If Kinn's brother is supposed to be outrageous, than keep it to that. By making everything ridiculous, then you it becomes unbelievable that this organization hasn't fallen to pieces. The female assassin was straight out of a Pink Panther film. I almost expected iron spikes to pop out of her boobs. And what was the point? Why test out Kinn's bodyguard when you could have just killed Kinn?
If this is supposed to be a madcap comedy, then I need to adjust my expectations - because so far this is not a drama. If it's a comedy then it's doing a good job.
X1.5 speed wasn't enough, I had to skip all of it like in 5 minutes, I don't know how they manage to stretch 5…
It feels like even when someone has a reasonably original plot, they still resort to cliches for important plot devices, like "hurting someone for their own good", which is incredibly frustrating for the viewer because it's so contrary to how life and people work. Plus, it's so cruel and arrogant that it's hard to care about the relationship anymore.
The elevator scene was a remarkable reversal from the usual formula, but then they immediately ruined it.
I think I'll just be straight up searching for your comments, you give detailed reviews.I hope too it's not Nuea's…
Thank you! I would love that, but it seems unlikely to happen in Ep 1 - but you never know - but if they did say it, I'd have to wonder what the rest of the series would be about.
That was a giant waste of time.
