Problem is that Keptawan is loveable, but seems not entirely all there upstairs.
There's definitely somerthing "off", but imagine growing up dirt poor in a small village you've hardly left your whole life, most likely only had a primary education, and no access to all the infrastructure of daily life we take for granted. To us he looks simpleminded and incompetent, but from his perspective we probably seem mentally deficient for not even having a small child's knowledge of farming and the basics of living in a rural area.
Are there no laws against severe sexual harassment in Thailand? Also, I couldn't tell what the product placements were this ep. Can anyone point them out to me? (That was sarcasm.)
You know, I've been viewing this as a stupid guilty pleasure, but I'm starting to think it's actually quite good and well-written. It's clearly aimed at younger audiences, and the message of all these episodes is always positive. Also, Rak & Diao's outfits are all amazing.
But what's really interesting is how it pokes at the BL genre. Rak and Diao are locked in an endless power struggle, although Rak has most of it and seems to be aware of his feelings for Diao (whereas Diao is sublimating his desire for Rak into hostility), but in the novel what's-her-name is writing, they're very strictly seme and uke, full of the usual cliches - today's episode forcefully underlined that. There are BL-ish things that happen in the main story, but they're not random trip/catch/stare tropes - here they both escaped to hide in the same place which pressed them against each other in a way that made sense. That's just good writing.
And it actually made me cry a little when Rak took Diao's hand - that was so sweet and caring, and Diao was so blown away by it he didn't even think to resist.
It's funny, at the beginning of Ep 8 I was thinking "how have I noticed what a babe Diao is?" until Rak walked in and I remembered that the moon is beautiful in the night sky but you can't see it when the sun rises.
Hahaahaha, was he really an uke? He could be pretending cause boy is such a manipulative b*tch. For you ill edit…
LOL - I guess it was never settled, but Akk used the "I want to take care of you" line which is usually the seme, and only an uke can get a fever (and inevitable damp towel wipedown) from his parents divorcing.
We believe it's indefinite, so probably dozens. The episodes are all self-contained stories rather than serialized, so you can expect Rak & Diao to have an extremely slow relationship development.
I thought I was the only one! Omg when he changed into that tux I was like what a bad fit like it looked so damn…
I know the 80s have been in, but I wouldn't expect 80s nightmares like that tux! That's what the nerdy best friend of the female lead would wear to a school dance in a teen movie of that era.
I don't think I would be sad if I got to have Saint.
I prefer So too - we haven't really had enough of Saint to really form a clear opinion. I mostly meant that if So dies, Saint isn't the worst consolation prize Mon could get.
I think in terms of looks I probably have a slight preference for Saint because he's smaller and I'm generally not as drawn to big guys, but So is very handsome and I love his quirky personality, although I like him significantly less after this episode. Grrr.
There are shirts that are silk - that low-cute black one Nawee wore in this epsiode looked like silk (or a synthetic substitute). Suits generally don't have any silk content, although blazers can, and the inside lining of a suit can have silk. Nawee specifically mentioned British and Italian fairly traditional styles, so it's almost certainly supposed to be wool, although as a mercy to the actors they may be using lighter materials.
And now that you made me think about it, that might be why the tailoring doesn't look quite right - it would be torture to spend an all-day shoot in a 3-piece wool suit in Thailand, at least for outdoor scenes.
Thanks to you I just watched this little gem of a drama. Definitely one of, if not THE best quarantine drama out…
I'm so glad to be helpful! Sometimes people don't get my sense of humor and get angry, but if someone is taking the time to read a review, I feel like I have an obligation to be entertaining if possible. There are a lot of series concluding so I've been writing a lot so I hope the quality doesn't decline. Thank you so much for the feedback.
That was the most shameless fluff I have ever seen. But THAT is how you f@#$ing do fluff! There are series that are better than this, but this is pretty close to the top of the heap for BLs I've enjoyed. I think I cried through this whole episode.
I even liked the Toy & Boss resolution - I like that the series didn't always take the easy or predictable route, and it was nice to see an uke take charge for once! And Boss is just adorable.
You can see Fame's acting ability in the expression on his face at the beginning of the episode - that was perfect portrayal of devastation and doing his best to hide it - it felt so real.
And Fluke - that dimple is too much. His smile is blinding, and I loved his performance in this.
And while Fluke is the perfect husband, the barrista is so hot that it's actually physically painful.
Anyway, the characters had arcs and they developed over the course of ths series, and in a logical and organic way. That's actually fairly rare in this genre.
That wasn't bad - it was quite good. But it was excruciating. The writing is great, the acting is great, it was beautifully shot, but I'm so stressed out that now I need a valium. So i'm going to go watch Rak Diao, which should fix it. BTW, Mon was really playing in some of those shots, and so was So, although not in the shots where he was going full bore - that was obviously someone else's hands.
I wasn't crazy about the "hurt the one you love" element of this - that's become a tired cliche and it isn't noble, it's depriving someone else of a decision, and also happiness, which is always worth grasping even when fleeting, although that's coming from an old person perspective.
HEY!!! THREE creepy stalkers. Don't you be bad-mouthing my Saifah! :)
I was thinking about that - the first one was creepy from his first scene, but I can't help but wonder if they came off as even creepier because they were all interested in THEO, which is impossible. Unless he's hung like a horse, but even then it wouldn't matter because he's an uke.
Theo is the most unappealing character I've ever seen in a BL. What a hypocritical malignant narcissist. He should go find Lhong from Tharntype and marry him - they'd be perfect together.
Poor Akk should get treated for his Stockholm Syndrome and then grab Saifah before someone else does.
That Eiffel Tower was LOL, but I don't fault them for that - at least they tried and really doing it there would have cost them several times the entire budget of the series. They didn't need the tower, though, and there has to be a French-style building somewhere in Bangkok that could have subbed for it - the whole bakery & sidewalk scene was convincing enough.
OK, this might sound like a nitpick, but shouldn't a series about a tailor feature, well, nicely tailored clothing? Green has a lovely figure, so you have to work hard to make a suit (the tux) look that awful and ill-fitting on him, and when he was buttoning Nawee's suit you could see how cheap and low-quality it was.
With a series this bad, we should at least get to see some fabulous clothes, not suits from a discount stall and a bad junior prom outfit. They didn't give us any shirtless Chap this ep, but at least those trousers were tight in all the right places.
Also, was this written for a much colder climate? Why is everyone wearing dark three-piece wool suits in 35-degree weather?
I think the Manwha had a similar problem - the story was interesting until they got together, then it was just…
I watched Blueming today, and Cherry Blossoms is looking really good to me in comparison - that's probably not a popular opinion, but I thought it was boring, whereas this has Ok Jinuk. And these two do good hugs.

Agree on missing Saint!
