I like your take on things and am genuinely curious about the response to this BL. I personally like it and think…
I think Tum/Tar is probably the most problemmatic because Tum was essentially Tar's guardian, and Tar was obviously suffering from severe untreated PTSD from having been gang-raped, and that to me is the most problemmatic aspect of all. In History 4 it was the little brother who was in charge so there wasn't any exploitation of a positon of authority, but you know why people have a problem with that relationship - it hinges on how a particular scene is intrpreted. I didn't see it that way, so I didn't find that one very problemmatic except for when the brother punched the skinny guy. But I certainly get why people had a problem with it, and at best it was manipulative and a violation of trust.
Here they're the same age, and it seems clear in the story that while the mother loves Jinuk, she doesn't view him as a son, nor does he view himself as her son. Plus the two boys were already friends when Taesung moved in. I'm not really bothered by any of these relationships - I'm just speculating about the lack of hate. Also, it's totally unambiguous that both of them want it.
For real. There's a saying: "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." This is a cute series and pitched…
There are obvious comparisons that people are going to make, especially after the final scene of this ep, and if there were only one BL airing at any given time and this came right after BB, then yes, this would suffer in comparison, if for no other reason that acting and dialog were better. Actually for me, the comparison that makes Enchante suffer is the other series that air on the same day. I watched Cherry Blossoms right before this, so there is an unavoidable comparison between how much I enjoyed them, and I'm about to watch My Ride, which I'm also likely to enjoy much more (but can also be more disappointed if it's not good).

My complaint about the love story in this is the whole Enchante thing was pointless and impossible to invest in as an audience - there needed to be back and forth so that we cared who Enchante was - especially since it was obvious from the beginning that he would end up with Akk. It just didn't work, and unfortunately it was the entire plot. I also feel like Force (Akk) is doing all the heavy lifting, but poor Book is stuck with an unrealized character - we don't really know anything about Theo because he's more of a plot element than a person.
Bad Buddy started out strong, but then all the central conflicts of the story just evaporated and were never overcome, so all we had was fan service and a relationship that had no development for the entire second half of the series.
I don't think that was a fake ghost - that's why it was funny. Or meant to be funny.
No, I meant it was a real ghost. The "joke", and it was one that I didn't want to find funny but it was so stupid I couldn't help it, is that he's so well-hung that he can even satisfy a ghost.
This continues to suffer from the plot making no sense. While they did give a logical explanation for Enchante, the WHY still made no sense.
And why is it only Akk's job to say it? Why can't Theo? Is this more uke law or something? If the nature of their relationship were different, maybe their lack of communication would be plausible - like if they were trying to conceal their feelings, but neither of them were, and they still couldn't figure it out?
This had the potential to be good, but it's just a boring mess. This was by far the best episode so far, and it was just 'meh'. The best I can say is it's watchable because there's nothing cringey in it - if it were on Tuesday maybe I'd like it more, but I'm watching it in between Cherry Blossoms After Winter and before My Ride - both series having the same friends to lovers theme but written so it makes emotional sense.
And you've got to be kidding me if you think people aren't going to compare this to Bad Buddy - just the ending of this ep is extremely comparable to BB. That series was better because the acting and writing were better (well, the first half was better written, because it was written by Shakespeare), and the chemistry between the leads was palpable, and there was never ridiculous failure of communication as the basis for the entire plot. All that and I think BB was overrated.
I think Force is doing a good job, but Book is so stiff I get nothing from him. I doubt it's his fault - his character is poorly written, and the soft focus filter being cranked up so high that he looks more like an animation than a human being doesn't help.
What are they even going to do for 2 more episodes? Whatever it is, I'll bet $1,000 it's dull.
I liked that episode much more than the previous ones.
Two Korean high school seniors who have never had a drink before is about as likely as a flying pig, but for some reason it didn't bother me. Seriously, it's impossible. If they were Saudi high school seniors it would still be unlikely, but at least believable.
Anyway, the writing and acting were better and more natural. That an uke was able to operate a pair of scissors without severing an artery was miracle enough, but alcohol actually had a realistic effect on them rather than make them projectile vomit and have their memories erased.
They did do the stupid triple-take shot, but crucially, not the first time they {SPOILER], which maximized the impact of that moment, which was wonderful. And nobody did the creepy eyes-wide-open thing.
I'm really happy this has finally taken off - I was a little surprised at how quickly, and that means we're in for some drama...
So... the scene where Rak was leaning against the doorframe.
Also, DIao really did look hot in the outfit with the magic shirt, but I think it was the white jacket that did the heavy lifting. Although the way his trousers fit helped. A lot.
I've been saying this is my guily pleasure series, but it's actually pretty good. The episodes are tightly written, funny but not stupid, and attractive leads with good comic timing, plus Rak constantly takes his shirt off. What more is there to ask for?
Yeah. In manga, Shougo/Thee at least admitted to have a brother complex and it went way better imo. I didn't understand…
I was watching the anime and everthing makes 10 times more sense - like you said, we're shown why "Ryu" doesn't like "Thee". Also, I really wish they would have made Jet more Darth Vader-ish like he is in the manga and anime - that would have been so much more interesing. Like it was he who put the tracker on Izumi, and it also had a microphone so they could listen in on him - which is twisted, but it was funny.
You can disagree that it's bad to give a platform to someone who romanticizes rape, but it's not petty. It's a…
Well, I definitely agree with you that attacking Mame personally is wrong - I think people can say whatever they want to about her work, but nobody should ever attack anyone personally.
If an author likes to write characters that do bad things it doesn't mean she is a bad person!
While I get the criticism for Anda for sure, I will just point out that's kind of how he's written lol if you…
Since I wrote that I've watched several episodes of the Anime, and from that I understand what you're saying. (And I'm planning to check out the manga.) I'm not sure this is the best story to adapt to live action, because it's very transgressive, with strong undertones of pedophilia and incest. I have no problem with that, but it doesn't seem appropriate for young teen audiences, and yet without those elements the series falls a little flat (although the incest is mildly there - Turbo and Film have great chemistry, but that might just be because Film is a smoking pile of sex and would probably have great chemistry with a cardboard box).
The pacing is off especially with Ryo, who went from horrendous gay panic to totally accepting of himself in gay pedophile relationship without a blink, whereas you can "hear" him processing in the anime and it works better.
And in the anime Anda is more of a plot device than a realstic character - he has almost no agency, and things just happen to him - he's not good at anything and even his drawings look like a child's. That doesn't translate well into live action, so Turbo, while better suited to play the role than anyone else I can think of, is stuck being an irritating whiney childish fully-grown man. I'm not sure about Kaownah as Ryo - he's cute but Ryo really isn't, he's more brooding - and let's face it, if you paired Kaonah with anyone but Turbo you'd assume he was the uke.

That has no effect on my opinion that this series is terrible. T
