How is it cringe?
The bank scene was really ridiculous - that's not how banks work. And the bitcoin scene too. The latter didn't bother me once it was over, but the bank thing was central to the plot. Still, I guess even with that the writing actually makes sense and doesn't spin in circles like most BLs.

What is this insanity 10min episode once a week. We should not be helping these companies which pisses at their…
How is this pissing on their target audience? Have you ever paid for a BL? It's not a money-making proposition.

I mean, I'm not going to go so far as to say Diew is unattractive, although 1000000% agree on the hair. It bothers…
I think they've worked hard to make Diew as physically unnattractive as possible - just look at a photo of what Park normally looks like - he's really cute, even sexy - but they also make his personality difficult to like - if he were a girl people would probably complain that he's way to passive and submissive to the point of misogyny, so I'm not sure why they thought that it would be better in a man.

For some reason BLs equate introversion with fragility, which is not at all the case. Introverts tend to be drained by constant human contact and lack of sufficient alone time, but that's not fragility. I'm an introvert and I really like being alone. Extroverts tend to get bored and lonely without other people around - is that less fragile than the way introverts are? You could even argue we're more self-contained and stronger in some ways.

Just my take on some (or many) people "criticizing" generally in Mydramalist. It's not specific to the series…
Did you really write this with no sense of irony at all? Everything you're criticizing in what you wrote you do yourself!

Opinions are only write or wrong when there's a factual basis for the opinion. For example, if I say "War's shirt in Ep 1-2 is blue." then my opinion is wrong, because it was red. If I say "whoever wrote episode 1 really doesn't know how banks work" my opinion is probably right, but not necessarily - the author may know how banks work but chose to ignore it.

Constructive criticism is all destructive and written only to boost egos - what, unlike your post? I agree there is criticism that's not constructive, like "this series sucks!", but most criticism is specific. Why is mindless adoration better? I think it's a bigger waste of space when people take it personally if someone on the internet disgrees with them about a piece of light entertainment. You seem to deligitimize saying anything that's non-positive? Why? What's the point of discussing anything if everyone must have the same opinion?

What does expertise have to do with anything? If it's criticising cinematography, or other technical things, then sure. But how else does expertise matter?

I do agree with you over obsessing over the ratings - there's some weird alogrithm that makes it difficult to understand, but if you click on the statistics icon you can see the actual vote breakdown. For this series the "official" rating is fairly close - it looks like it's between 8.9 and 8.95 based on the voting. Usually the rating is .2 to .3 lower than the votes seem to indicate.

And finally, it's frankly immature to say "if you don't like it, then don't watch it." That;s simplistic and reductive. You can enjoy something enough to watch it and still be disappointed with some aspects of it. I like the acting in this, but I wish it would adobt realism in things that otherwise take me out of the story, like the ridiculous bank in Ep. 1 - that was too important a plot point to be so divorced from reality. But I'm not going to hold onto that for 12 episodes and I'm not going to stop wathing just because one thing was stupid, but I might point it out.

Ur on Time of Fever page 😭😭😭
That's weird - when I saw the notification I was thinking "The Time of Fever? I don't remember ever hearing of that." And even now I don't remember it, even though it looks like I watched it a week ago. I do have a vague recollection, but I guess it wasn't memorable for me.

Can someone tell me why this is good? I love War & Yin but the writing on this is beyond cringe in the first ep and first half of Ep 2, and they really needed to hire a wardrobe consultant - War's way to large suit was taking me out of the story - he looked like a kid who raided his father's closet.

The acting is good, so I know it had potential, but I keep having to take breaks. War is talking about bitcoin investments right now and I just can't.

You could have summarized your review to "I didn't like it because I thought one of the actors was ugly", it would…
I don't think the actor is unnattractive at all - he's quite cute. I think his character is unattractive, not least because of what they did to his hair. Look at him:

You have to be able to distinguish between an actor and a character they play.

I loved the series for the first few episodes, but now I'm watching this only for side couple cuz the main one…
Both couples make me cringe, but at least God looks good undressed. To be fair, so does Wan.

Ep 11 could have easily been the last one but maybe it’s me.
Episode 3 could have easily been the last one.

No they did Beer and Wan bad ... Why is their scenes like this it's so out of track always... something is off…
I think it was that Ole threw himself into the scene but Kade was visibly not into it, so it came off as non-consensualish. It made me uncomfortable to watch.

No cuz if i asked someone to date and they asked me if I'd still do their laundry, they'd never hear from me again.…
It was better than the Disney theme playing during God and Dieu's makeup scene - I couldn't pay attention to what they were saying with When You Wish upon a Star in the background.
On Monster Next Door Oct 4, 2024
The problem with this series is that God is super-hot and the world's best boyfriend, and Dieu is the single most unappealing person I've ever seen as a MC in a BL. He's immature, selfish, cruel to turtles, unattractive (I know that's subjective, but cruelty to turtles is not), and contrary to God's declaration that he is not someone to pity, he is truly pitiful.

Whoever chose that hair for Dieu is a sadist. Why?

As for Beer and Wan, eww. That's the word that comes to mind after the most awkward love scene I've witnessed in a while. Ole looked like he meant it, but Kade was so obviously not into it that it looked non-consensual. I was surprised at how much nicer Wan's body is than Beer's - that was a nice change from the standard uke-seme formula.

But aren't we past these really cringey "You can be useless because I will do everything for you including matching up your chopsicks (?)" type relationships? Why can't they just be two guys in love instead of a man and a virginal Victorian 12-year old girl with consumption? What was with Dieu pushing God away like that? If God whipped off his shirt and said he was going to have his way with you, would you giggle and push him off? Come on.

I want to see more of Win and Game. That's a good couple.

He takes his shirt off in Ep 11. Frankly, it IS enough to make me watch, but I'm shallow.

I actually think Big is a decent actor - I'm not sure anyone could do better with such a lifeless script and paired with the most unappealing partner I've ever seen in a BL.
Replying to residualframe Oct 4, 2024
while I understand that you dislike the show, rating it the lowest possible in all aspects is just plain ridiculous.…
Big looks really, really good with his shirt off. It's kept me around.

A "1" is too low, but I could see a 4.

What does "pseudo" mean?
"pseudo" means fake. Pseudoincest (or pseudo-incest) means between non-blood relatives. In BL, it's very common for it to be two boys whose parents just married, so they didn't even grow up together.
Replying to jpny01 Oct 3, 2024
None of that is important, I would agree. But Diew plain out lied about Pee being his ex, more than once. That…
They're not invented terms, they're fundamental to BL, but it isn't necessary to know them to watch BL, just necessary to discuss them.
