Hmm. This series has some nice things about it - Khaitoon is adorable and charming, it's well-filmed, and I liked that Valen is so incompetent at wooing that Khaitoon thought he was being mildly bullied.

But it's slooooww. And there are way, way too many characters taking up too much screen time. Like who were the 3 girls that sat down at the table, and why would Valen's friend think that some random girl was the person he was after?

There's so much going on that it's hard to care. Also, they should rename this "Every day is a bad day for Non". Whoever wrote this won't be happy until poor Non's spirit is totally crushed.

That really sad that the choice of the writer it's to make us feel like Nueng (and Maze) think that people without…
Yes, but Phap did it effectively, not by being extremely cruel and sabotaging the relationship. He just say "stop being clingy and open up to the hot guy showing his love for you with such persistence."

I stopped watching at the kidnapping scene. The acting in this is so actively terrible that it's painful, and the writing isn't any better. Who holds onto a stroller carrying a dog when being kidnapped instead of defending himself? And when did the friend suddenly develop a crippling speech impediment? I guess that was supposed to be funny or something.

The cinematography is uninspired, the energy level of the whole production is low, and Zeyn has no charm to give any depth to his prettiness - even that's dull.

The problem is that if you're going to zany and funny, you need to go for it full-throttle, not in this half-assed, limp way. The actors couldn't even be bothered to run to the car - they just sauntered over and discussed where everyone would sit. If that had been done with manic energy, it might have been funny, but instead it was just sad.

I'm guessing the director is either independently wealthy or is extraordinarily good at squeezing money out of people. My Day was already fairly bad, and each following series is progressively worse. Honestly, this is unwatchable.

What was the real conflict with Maze and Nueng? I feel like I'm not fully understanding the issue. Are you telling…
I agree - I was reminded below that Phap does know the nature of the Maze-Nueng relationship, so his behavior is incomprehensible and way OOC. And Maze's comment that he's that type of person is also incomprehensible since Phap has never once even slightly exhibited such tendencies. Terrible writing.

That was badly out of character - I'm unhappy about that. Phap has had a consistent character, and he's a refreshing change from the usual BL-type character, but he was so over the line that it's hard to excuse.

I mean, two people having a normal relationship isn't fan service. It's not like Pat came out of the bedroom with…
Yes, but this isn't a relationship I'm in, it's a drama I'm watching, so repetitive cuteness is dull and boring. There needs to be a plot, which involves the creation of dramatic tension (which this series did exxtremely well), and then resolving it (which it simply didn't do at all). Did I say I wanted OTT drama? If you're best friend is willing to beat your bf to death one moment, then that's something that needs to be resolved. If you have to keep your relationship secret from your families, then that's also something that has to be resolved. Instead, it was all waved away and the entire second half of the series was just fanservice instead of resolving the storylines set up in the first half.

I'm not sure how fanservice is related to nipple twisters - for a BL audience, it's cute boys being cute to each other, which is all the second half of the series did.

Also, hiding a relationship from everyone for 5 years is not "normal" nor is being together that long with no development so that you're behaving exactly the same as you were when you started - that's not true to life at all.

But i loved ep 12 😍😍 and agree about your opinion on 'till ep 6' I commented the same thing some days ago…
I had the same reaction to 2gether - up until ep 6 and the cliffhanger reveal that Sarawat had always loved Tine (I couldn't breate for an hour after that - they had to come revive me because I died). Then the story took a nosedive off a cliff. BB didn't do that, but it did jump of a ledge into a pool of lukewarm water.

I get that people would like that BB ended happily, but it was unearned - they never addressed the family problem, it's just went away. Which means hiding their relationship and all the huge sacrifices that entails is pointless, and so the entire story is pointless. Also, the buildup in the first half was wonderful, but then after that their interaction didn't progress - it was the same for the rest of the series - actually a lot less intense than the rooftop scene at the end of Ep 5, which has got to be one of the most powerful romantic moments of all time.

So I don't think it was bad, just forgettable and it didn't fulfill the enormous promise of the first half. P'Aof seems to be addicted to dodging resolutions through time jumps. It's a bad habit.

Simply put, INCOHERENT!!
In this context it means that the events and dramatic elemnts of the story didn't follow each other logically. We started out with Romeo & Juliet, but the all the conflict evaporated and there was a lot of fanservice, then they went back to hiding their relationship for no apparent reason for five entire years during which time there was no character development at all.

In effect, the series spend half the series building dramatic tension, then shrugged it off without any sort of dramatic resolution (dramatic in the sense of it happening onscreen and within the story, rather than offsecreen in time jumps).

I can find some common ground with your take on bad buddy. My least fav eps all come from the second half of the…
I think maybe the problem is that it certainly didn't start out as a romcom or a comfort show - its was quite dramatic and even violent. But then it suddenly shifted gears halfway through and I think maybe the second half was just too long and needed condensing.

If the central problem is having to keep their relationship secret, it seems to me that this needs to be addressed at some point. The reason we basically got is "because". Can you imagine keeping a relationship secret from your families for FIVE YEARS? That's a massive sacrifice, especially in an Asian family where their parents will be pressuring them to marry women. It would be a lot easier just to confront the situation and resolve it. Obviously the parents are fine with it.
On Paint with Love Jan 21, 2022
That was a dramatic episode - I'm a bit confused, though. My interpretation is that Phap doesn't understand what the relationship is between Maze & Nueng, but everyone else seems to think he knows that. It's kind of important, because it's the difference between Phap behaving understandably or not.

The music in this is really great - I don't think I've seen a BL that uses that much background music and so effectively.

Does Phap understand that Neung is Maze's brother? I don't think he does. Was that explicitly stated and I forgot? The situation can also be confusing because men all address each other as "brother" all the time.

It seems to me that the central misunderstanding is that Phap doesn't know Nueng is just Maze's brother, and Maze doesn't know that Phap thinks that.

As for the conflict between Nueng and Maze, I didn't think it mattered - it's just backstory. The point is that Phap is misunderstanding their relationship. I may be getting that all wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.

I think I'm that lone guy who doesn't get it. I thought this was one of the best things I've ever seen up to Ep 6, and then nothing else happened. All the dramatic tenion built up, all the plotlines, went nowhere. Wai went from homicidal to totally accepting in 10 seconds, and that was due to an external factor, not them working through things, and the parent problem was just glossed over.

So essentially 6 episodes of fan service, with no real evolution of their relationship. Why a time jump? If you're going to do that, shouldn't we see how their relationship has changed and matured? Instead they're interacting in exactly the same way.

I had a hard time getting through Ep 12 - in fact I set it on 1.5x part way through and then forgot and didn't notice until Pran sang. Absolutely nothing happened.

This series is really forgettable, and I tihnk as time passes, there will be a lot more comments like this - it seemed great at the time, but it's all sound and fury, signifying nothing. Other than watching it, this series hasn't crossed my mind in a month, and I doubt it ever will again.

I think cinematography matters quite a bit. It's usually a key differentiator between something good and something…
But cinematography doesn't really have anything to do with what equipment is used, it's getting good shots. An example of a good shot is when the boxes are being unloaded from the truck - that could be done with an iPhone as well as an expensive camera. A boring shot would have just been a frontal view of the workers taking boxes out of the truck - but filming it from inside the truck gave the process an ominous air that helped build tension.

There are more options with good equipment, but a good eye is a good eye, and a skilled DP is more important than great equipment. When shots are bad, it can drain a lot of the energy from a production - like Meet My Angel where half the shots had leaves of plants blocking the actors. Was ITSAY a particularly interesting story? No, it was actually very conventional. It was the production that raised that to what it was, through visual metaphor and symbolism and beautiful shots. That's all direction and cinematography. (And of course good acting, which is also very important and often lacking in BL). You're My Sky has the dullest plot I can think of, but it's so beautifully filmed I'm able to put up with it.

You're probably right that many people who use the term may not fully understand what it means, but I think it's pretty important. Gameboys was actually filmed quite well with interesting shots given the limitations of the concept.

Dabbing wound with cotton ball? Check.
Towel dab? Check.
Trip/fall/catch/stare? Check.

I'm sure there's a piggy-back ride, hair drying scene, probably an accidental kiss, and the uke cutting himself using a sharp object.

This looks super original.
