I've been a bit harsh on this series so far, but wow, the acting in this is first rate. Rex & Gio were great in this episode. I wish the sound didn't semi-spoil some important scenes, but this has got to be one of the best BLs airing.
One criticism might be that it can get repetitive - I don't know how many times someone can say "he has already forgiven you" to the same prompt.
But anyway, it's not often that the entire cast is top-notch like this. Gio is always a bit of a surprise because he's mostly cast in silly roles, where he's totally wasted, because he has serious dramatic skills.
This is surprisingly good - I was not too excited because I thought Nut was terrible in Oxygen, but I think it was the directing because he's really cute in this.
And Plan is super-cute, and I really like the actor playing Luck (and Pha in Gen Y).
I thought the horror would be just a toss-away after the first episode, but this is an actual horror story with some scary sh#$ in it. It's well-written, and even if the pace is slow, it's not plodding or boring. I hope the conclusion isn't rushed.
Man, I'm now asking myself if he worked hard to improve his acting skills or his role in Oxygen was made to be…
In Oxygen he was The Boy Who Lost His Smile, and apparently the director interpreted that to mean The Boy Who Has No Facial Expressions and Has the Dead Eyes of a Serial Killer.
Will not be tempted like I did for Bad Buddy and WAIT TILL THIS FINISHES AIRING TO BINGE!Damn it's hard
This is soooo guud. Are you sure you want to wait? You don't want to push that big, shiny play button and see all the cute boys and their great chemistry and the good writing?
Miggy was very convincing playing a drunk person, but that scene was soooo long - I had a hard time paying attention.
The highlight for me was Enzo and Kaleb improvising at the end - so cute.
Technically the episode was poor, especially the sound, but again, Jodi gets excellent performances out of his actors - everyone was good, even the bit players.
This review is exactly everything I think! Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I'm finding that a lot of people feel this way, and I'm surprised. I think that almost all of us would rate Ep 5 as the best ep - it had a very skillful buildup of tension (with fantastic acting by all three boys) with a very satisfying resolution - I think I watched that from the Wai scene to the ending on the roof 100 times. But then all the conflicts were just abandoned!
Your review is the closest of what I've been feeling with this series. I wanted to love this series, first because…
LOL , I had the same reaction to HCTM. "I'm sorry I committed 1st degree murder for petty greed and condemned you to roam the earth alone as a sad amnesiac ghost for decades." "Well, OK, as long as you're sorry."
It's really a different moral system - in Siew Sum Noi there's something similar: "I'm sorry I tried to beat your son to death." "It's OK, he lived."
Anyway, I came out at 22 because I was away for college so it didn't really come up. Parents will almost always come around so long as their child is happy. The resistance is largely based on fear that life will be hard for him, or in this case fear that the BFs father will sabotage him. But they can't get over it unless you tell them. This show cheated by not ever doing it, and just leaving it to the parents to gradually figure it out and grudgingly accept it, which is spectacularly bad writing for a show that's purportedly based on Romeo & Juliet. We certainly didn't want the feud ended by Pat & Pran's tragic death, but if that was the central conflict of the entire drama, I'm sorry, but a dramatic resolution is required, period.
“And incidentally, he should strangle him at home, not right outside an enemy stronghold. “Lol this part mame…
These are all good points - I guess I just feel that it should be one or the other. If it's serious, then the writing needs to make sense. If it's a madcap adventure with soap opera elements, then it should go that way. When it's in between, nothing lands quite like it should and it gets distracting.
For example, in this ep, I was bored by the mission because it was stupid and you know that nobody will get killed no matter how stupid they are, so there are no stakes, plus its a BL, so the couples are going to get together by the end no matter how many times they betray each other, so no stakes there, either. So I had it on 2x or even skipped parts to get to the character stuff that I actually care about, and there was hardly any of it, which is why I'm irritated. 10 seconds of Dan/Yok or Gram hinting he's in love with Black is worth an hour of the "adventure" stuff. Or White & Sean frolicking in bed - I liked that too.
There are American sitcoms that used them, but most were filmed in front of live audiences. That way the director could adjust what was going on based on the reaction. More modern shows have no laugh track even if there's no live audience.
Now only children's programs use laugh tracks and sound effects, which is why to my ear is sounds so stupid in a BL.
He at least has a police ID - last ep Yok pickpocketed his wallet. It could be a fake ID. But if he's a cop, I don't see what the point is - why pose as a secretive graffiti artist? Shouldn't he be trying to infiltrate a criminal enterprise? Or, he could be an officer that's upset over corruption in the police and is a lone-wolf rebel.
He almost got his teammates in trouble and killed many times bc of his stupidity. If you don't wanna do something…
There are four other people that could have objected. That's why airliners have 2 pilots - in case one is about to make a mistake, the other one corrects him.
*Standing ovation*. These revolutionaries still need their training wheels. Also, the bitter drink would have…
Yes, exactly. Plus White took off his mask, which could be caught on security tape. Next ep Sean publicly confronts Tawi, who is going to be able to tell he's one of the invaders.
I couldn't agree with you more. From since episode two I was pointing out the glaring flaws the story of this…
If they'd been captured by Tawi and pressured for info, they would have been killed anyway, PLUS their friends would die, so White giving up like that was weakness, or maybe he's just really naive, but either way he's a serious problem.
As for their activities, Sean knocked out 4 people, at least one of whom he'd strangled - that's extremely dangerous and could cause any of them brunt force or brain damage. Not to mention how incredibly dangerous and unpredictable arson is.
Not only that, but the plan itself was incredibly stupid. Consumers will all sympathize with Tawi, not the gang - they are the ones inconvenienced, and Tawi will just tell everyone what happened, apologize, and promise to increase security, and he'll have law enforcement on his side to gelp him. People do not react well food being tampered with.
And if Tawi retaliates, it puts everyone around the gang in danger - all their family and friends, so doing something where they're recognizable on camera is so stupid that it's almost hard to believe.
I think we all know who did the thing that he said he had done.
