At A Certain Company, they all have the same haircut even here in their US offices. And there's a spa with super-cheap stylists, so they're asking skilled professionals to give them that cut. And they all wear their blue company jackets whenever they go out, even it's really hot outside.

I'll tell you where I've never felt more like a schlub: Hong Kong. In the business district, everyone looks like a model. It's really intimidating.

Oh, duh - I watched that when you sent it - for some reason I didn't make the mental connection when you mentioned it again. Both of them look a lot better, but especially the one you don't love.

I think it says enough for the level of creativity and passion that went into this that it's adapted from a video game. Not even a manga or novel, but a simple game, and all the characters except Shin Woo are played by a boyband singers made with a standard template.

But the mainstream Thai BL industry isn't really much better - is there anything on right now you're really excited about? The only two for me are Given, which is Japanese, and Call It What You Want 2, which is most certainly not mainstream. All the others I watch solely for hot guys and end up ff through half of it.

With all BL everywhere, you'll occassionally get something new and interesting (except Japan where almost everything is), but these tend not to be copied. Instead we get endless high school and engineering school stories. Some of that is inevitable because the genre is Boy Love, not Man Love, but how about a reform school? Technical high school? Sports camp? Classical piano competition? Even juvenile prison - anything but rich kids.

I worked at a Korean company - it's the same there, except polished in a very, very bland way. Well, I guess this series is polished and bland, but at least there are attractive men in it.

Is it a studio recording with snippets of the show interspersed? I that's it, then yes (just now) - I didn't know who any of those singers are.

Ugh. That episode started out so well, with not one, but two unexpected relationship developments, then devolved into one endless repetivitve mess of flashbacks, sulking, and poorly acted anger accompanied by that cloying ballade that's exactly the same in every BL.

I'm sorry, but I think it's headed out of my opinion toward objective truth that Gun is a limited actor. He's good at comedy and should stick to it. I wouldn't say the main couple have no chemistry, but it really feels one-sided.

Boat is a natural, but Tenon (Bank) dominated this episode. And that tank top. Yikes. His eyes are so huge you can fall into them, but his body is killer, too.

I was not exactly in the closet, but so terrified I might as well have been - I was probably 30 before I had a "normal" out life. The 80s were not a good time to deal with it given AIDS in full force.

What was with the fake tan on Sef? It's not like his looks need any augmentation! He looked like Donald Trump in that scene where he's eavesdropping on Andrei. Both of them were way too orange - in the last scene it looked more like caked-on makeup than fake tan.

The editing was particularly awful this episode, with scenes that were choppy with sudden shifts of camera angle. Film 101 - don't move the camera if you plan to splice together different takes. The sound was a better, though.

The dinner scene was nauseating. As least don't pet the cat between handfuls of food! And were the actors in a fight or something? Andrei refused to respond to or look at his father, when in the previous scene we had to listen to him rant on for several hours about boring things on to his dad on the phone.

There was a smidgen of progress this ep, but the series is two-thirds done and it's moving too slowly. Sef & Andre's interaction is very repetitive, although at least a degree of playfulness has crept into Andrei's hostility.

I like him too - but he needs to commit to a course of action or I'll slap him.

It's not really a close contest for me. Except Teacher Seo, but he's a safe distance away in second place.

It's funny how boring your life gets when you get older - I forget how full of drama youth is. Sometimes I roll my eyes at BL plots, but I'm not sure my actual life was any more reasonable.

I like DaOn - it's just that he refuses to say anything about his feelings and it's frustrating. He always seems to say someting banal instead.

Why do they always give te guys silly haircuts in these series that hide their looks? He looks so good in that photo.

The people in question need to say something. I'm screaming at my screen "SAY IT! SAY ANYTHING!" If anyone pats TK on the head one more time without clarity, I will fly over there and slap someone.

On his Instagram you can see that he's not chubby, and there's one where he's wearing a short-sleeve shirt and his arm is definitely not skinny, but it's not a clear shot. I think you're right - something about the way he moves says "athletic" to me.

I know - I just mean that she doesn't deserve someone like Shi Woon.

You're right - straight dramas do that a lot - I hadn't thought about it. Now that you mention it, maybe that's a source of my lack of engagement with this series - because we know Shin Woo is endgame, the DaOn stuff is all filler and you know not to invest in it.

The shallowness is always there for me, but it's particularly strong here since all the boys only have one personality characteristic each, so if I'm going to have a sex-bot, I want the hottest one.

I guess that's a good point. If you asked DaOn to choke you during you-know-what and forgot to tell him to let go after a while you might be in trouble. Right now he's near the bottom of my ranking, but none of them have taken their shirts off, so I'm withholding final judgement. Isn't it winter in this series? Koreans love their saunas.

I know it's not very charitable, but I really don't want So Hee to have a happy ending. I'm kind of hoping she falls off a balcony into the path of a lawn mower.

I'm sure everyone will end up in happy couples. I just hope it isn't in the last 30 seconds.
