Could you spot the racist soap product placement? It was subtle, but if you were paying close attention you'd catch it, although it was fleeting.
That guy wanted the teacher to write his own love poem? OK. If Teacher weren't single, what was he going to do? Give it to him and say "Here's a love poem I wrote for you"? I think that might have a different effect than he was hoping for.
And oh, good. An evil ex-gf. I was afraid they wouldn't include one in this series.
I think you have to choose between realism and BL fantasy - when you do both it makes the fantasy elements look silly, like people in a rural area being that blase about homosexuality. It works in a show like Brothers or Top Secret, but here it's strange.
Anyway, the headmaster's son and Than & Din continue to be hot. Too bad we only got a few seconds of Din today. it looks like things are going to heat up next ep.
OK. I thought Simai was really adorable in that "Be Smile" t-shirt. If the grammar were correct, it wouldn't have had the same cute effect.
The scene early on where Nampu was going to kiss Copy was the creepiest thing I've seen in a BL - I was screaming "Run! It's going to kill you!" Have you ever seen the movie Alien? He looked like one of those creatures about to shoot it's inner jaw into Copy's face. That is a smile that would frighten grown adults, let alone children. Also, that couple has zero chemistry I can detect.
People are probably upset with Eak for his behavior, but I thought it was well-done, and makes sense for someone who's young and confused, and Eak's character has a childlike quality to it, so I thought it made sense for him, but he needs to figure things out quicky, or he'll lose everything.
I think all BL writers must have been brutally cheated on (although I would find it surprising if any of them have ever dated anyone), because that's the central conflict of 99.9% of couples. If Both and Newyear are that insecure after that much time together, then they shouldn't be together. I'm surprised they accepted that in their storyline - it seems to go against their brand. I'm hoping it ends in a murder-suicide. (Not really, but I find them cloying and irritating).
Finally some conflict between the perfect couple coming up 😅
Yes, and it was the stereotypical conflict that tells me they absolutely should not be together if that's anyone's attitude in a couple. But it would be easier for me to skip over them if they broke up, so I'd be fine with it. :)
I just read the reviews for three Line TV dramas, My Boy, YYY, and Top Secret. The reviews were that they are…
I can't handle My Boy, but YYY is a lot of fun if you can take crazy and campy. The ending is beyond WTF in a good way.
Top Secret is full of very cute boys, and way too many characters, but it works really well to watch the couples you're interested in and skip everything else, and fortunately (for me), the two couples I like are the main characters.
Oh sorry - I didn't correct the number of eps - I've watched all 10 that have subtitles. I did mention that in…
I'm actually a little confused now - if you listen to the lyrics of IG's song, it has to be intentionally bad - I mean the lyrics are really, really awful, and it's impossible that someone would do that unintentionally. Most of the other songs that people sing are not great, but passable. So I'm not sure what the creators were aiming for, but I may be looking at it wrong.
I feel like the whole "I saw you smile then bought your company" thing is entirely overlooked????
That got replaced with "your tight gleaming body looked hot when you came out of the shower". Inarguably true, but a little less romantic than the previous reason given.
Miko just signed the contract in a livestream at youtube, he will also be co-producing the series. Aki wasn't…
Yes, it's amazing how often attempted murder or even murder are forgiven with a one-line "sorry".
I thought what made Miss Becky cringeworthy was that she wasn't campy enough. If you're going to have someone in drag performing a role, commit! When it's half-assed like that it's just weird.
In any case, at least it was better than Amore. Or at least shorter.
That's simply your take on the style of presentation, which you don't care for. A lot of people, me included,…
@FreshKicks said "I find the pacing". "I like the naturalistic" and "I just wish". That's not really expressing a belief that that's how everyone should react to it, it's kind of explicitly expressing it as opinion. You express your opinions very strongly, and I respect that, but it would be just as easy to say that you believe your POV is how everyone should see it. For example your sentence starting "Avoiding the urge". I didn't take it that way, but can you see how it could come across?
As for discipline, I'm not sure how including everything is showing discipline. It's much harder to give up what you've put in than it is to skip things you want to put in. Most directors will tell you that editing is the hardest parts of making a film, and that's largely because there is so much footage and you have to make really tough decisions - you've probably heard the adage "be willing to sacrifice your favorite scene."
BLs don't normally put much effort into the plot making sense or people acting like... well, people. THAT is certainly admirable, and it is a breath of fresh air, it's just held too long and I lose consciousness.
BL series are habitually rushed, but is the whole thing rushed? I would say no. What's usually rushed is the conclusion, because the series has not been paced for the number of episodes available. So much time is spent on the slow burn of the relationship (which I think most people would say is the best part) that there's not enough time for a satisfying resolution (also sometimes too many side characters). I don't think this series will insert the almost universal manufactured formulaic drama in episode 9 (usually an evil gf dropping out of the sky and/or implausible lack of communication), but it has spent nearly 3 of 10 episodes on the prelude (important as it is) to the main story.
I don't know what to say except that I whole-heartedly disagree with you on almost every word you wrote here.…
LOL, the thing that didn't bother me bothered you - we really are opposites on this. Phob said he would explain why he hasn't been in contact - so I'm suspending judgment.
Oh sorry - I didn't correct the number of eps - I've watched all 10 that have subtitles. I did mention that in…
I didn't say I don't like the characters at all - the reason I've continued to watch it is because I like the characters. That's the strongest thing this has going for it, and I think all the actors are doing a great job. When I say "IG is terrible" I don't mean IG in general, I mean his singing. I likeeverything else about him.
But when there are things in a BL that are homophobic or damaging representation (like presenting homosexuality as a choice, which it is not), I have to object.
I don't think you have anything peronal against me - you've been explaining why you think things, which is not an attack, you're just expressing strong opinions which is a good thing - I likebeing challenged because it can help me see things in a new way. It also underscores where my point should be more clear so that it's understood, and that's helpful too.
Are you sure? Shin Woo was horrible to TK because he liked him but to drive him away because he didn't want anyone…
He hit on him by crashing into him in the hallway. From what we've seen before, it was to protect himself from harassment - didn't they say he had to leave his previous school? If it's fear of disappointment, it hasn't been portrayed that way, or at least not clearly. He even said he tried to get TK's attention, but when he realized it wouldn't happen he gave up.
I never heard anything good or bad about this one. Are you guys liking it? I'm waiting until is finished to start.
It has a lot of great qualities, but it's very slow, not in a good way. If I could watch it over I would ff through the flashback scenes. There are a LOT of flashback scenes, and they're often scenes that we just saw. But the acting, production quality, and story are good.
I don’t know what to say it’s not bad but at the same time kind of boring. It’s too slow
There's too many longer-than-necessary scenes, Nut speaks way way too slowly, and there were so many memory montages that I lost the will to live. That might be a slight exaggeration for the sake of being dramatic, but it was a bit heavy on flashbacks.
No, you're right. Not only that but Part 3 has a huge chunk of BTS.
In that case I'd hate to see your definition of "dragged". I actually had to go splash my face with water because I was having trouble staying conscious during the bed scene. This is good, but it's also a little tedious because it's too slow. Slow-burn is good. This is not burning, it's got too much extraneous material that doesn't move the story forward.
