This story just spins in circles. It's the same every week - no development at all. Also, Andrei is a bad person if he would accept a laptop as a gift without being in a relatiomship with Sef.
I keep hoping the production quality will go up with practice but it hasn't at all. The show is beeing carried by Allen's looks. And they need to be careful with the makeup. In the bed scenes he looks like he's severely ill - I think it's because there was too much on him and the lighting made his lips look pale and lifeless. Ivo's looked bad there too.
Appreciate the turn the series took towards some social realism. Usually in these BL dramas, its set up so that…
They're going to pair him with her. She'll completely balance out utterly destroying Da On's life by saying "Sorry about that", and get the guy. Remember how powerfully punished the villains were in He's Coming to Me or TharnType?
There was so much that was good about this ep, but it's still missing something for me - I've been thinking about it because everyone loves this so much.
The acting is still flat and robotic, but it can't be just that, because that's common to most of BL, and I'd rather there be underacting than overacting - the latter is glaring and takes you out of the story.
I don't like TK, but that's not it either. There are BLs I liked while not liking the lead.
I think what it is is that it was 100% obvious from the beginning of ep 1 that Shin Woo is endgame, so the strong focus of the show on TK and Da On feels like time wasted that could be spent developing the main couple's relationship. I would have been fine with a few eps like that, but 11 out of 16?
Shin Woo and TK interact hardly at all. The moments they do are nice, but it's a few seconds per ep. And there's nothing else of dramatic interest. They get along. That's it. They're not obviously in love (like for instance FUTS, where the situation was similar, but the story still focused on the eventual pair), they're not enemies, they just, well, get along, and TK barely notices Shin Woo.
Also, So Hee is a horrible human being who deserves to have her scarf get stuck in a garbage disposal and drag her whole head in, but I already know they don't have those in Korea. And there's a 99% likelihood she'll realize she was wrong, say she's sorry, then end up with the hottest and most interesting guy on the show, which is just infuriating and will ruin the finale for me.
This is watchable, but for all the above I don't really enjoy it too much.
Me: I can not love Shin Woo more than I already doA new ep: hold my beerHow does Shin Woo manage to make me love…
Well, I can save you time. Shin Woo is 100% endgame which was made clear in the first 30 seconds of the show when he didn't like TK. The person who doesn't like the lead is always the endgame. I don't mean this as an insult to anyone, but I can't believe anyone thinks or fears it's not Shin Woo. Has it ever been the guy who's really nice to the lead from the very beginning if nothing bad happened to him? The only time the nice guy is allowed to be the romantic interest is when the lead trips and he catches him, or saves him from beaten, or something. Otherwise, it's forbidden by BL law. That's one of the reasons I'm not as into this as a lot of people. It's always been so clear that it's Shin Woo that all the focus on TK and Da On seems like a waste of time since it's not going to happen.
I don't know anything about what will happen - this is just my speculation.
Sorry, I lied by accident. I thought it was fully subbed because they did 8, 9, & 10, but 5-7 are not subbed. There are links to fan-subbed eps in the ep 5 comments by Janos Small.
Are poop jokes funnier in the Philippines and Thailand than they are elsewhere? These happen a lot in BL. In Ep 4 a character poops, wipes with his hand, and doesn't wash it. That's revolting, not funny. And then the rest of the ep was a mud fight. That's all that happens. Well, at least the mud fight prompted shirtlessness.
Can someone explain what the point of the evil girl's scheming? Both boys were leaving, so she'd never have had to see them again, but instead she summons the obligatory girlfriend that materializes upon command to mess things up. Ugh. It's like BL-makers absolutely cannot resist putting a girlfriend into every f#$%ing story.
Another SJW codswallop. The world cinema and tv business are full of directors working with their spouses openly…
No, the Director is the head of the production and reports to Tee, Everyone else is under James. You have no idea if all the relationships you mentioned above were truly consensual. As we've seen lately, people in power have demanded sexual favors of people to allow them careers. If James wants Ait off the production, he's gone. If he chooses, he can get Ait blacklisted so he has a difficult time finding any work again.
And it doesn't matter what people did 60 years ago, that's not acceptable behavior today. 60 years ago a person could be thrown in prison in Western countries for homsexual activity. You're comparing the morality of a past era with today's, and picking and choosing.
In any case, people didn't have the ability to "butt into" what was going on behind the scenes - you can't fire up 1950s camera equipment and film people behaving poorly, and in any case, studio heads were very powerful and could easily silence anyone. Kennedy slept around with who knows how many women, Eleanor Roosevelt lived with a woman, and people didin't even know FDR couldn't walk. It's a different world.
Whining about step-sibling couples is completely different than relationships where the power relationship makes it dubious whether or not both people are really able to consent. You're equating frivolous objections with real ones.
SJW is the terrm that the Alt RIght uses to attack anyone expressing socially progressive and liberal views, including feminism, civil rights, gay and transgender rights, and multiculturalism - and we're not talking about Christian Democrats or the British Conservative party, we're taking about Neo-Nazis and White nationalists. If you want to be in that company, good luck to you.
I liked it but it was a little too romanticised for my tastes, with people giving long flowery speeches about love, etc. I guess I prefer more realism in a story like this (as opposed to a regular BL, where I expect absolutely none).
I'm definitely a JM, and Rebs annoy me. In my experience they tend to flit from one relationship to the next, abandoning it when that initial passion cools. For me, it turns into something better after that - less terrifying and more secure and comfortable. For them, it's just over. Sometimes they develop a more nuanced idea of what a relationship is. In this case, Reb seems to have set himself on a specific idea of love - and one that isn't very realistic.
I think the chances of something working between them are nearly nil. There wasn't really a lot of chemistry, and their expectations are too different. Maybe in the future, if Reb learns love isn't a Disney movie.
The acting was pretty good, and the dialog was difficult to make work, so kudos to both of them. The writing was also good, and major points for a good ending.
The write yourself a poem pick-up strategy was one of the lamest I've ever seen.I like when stories of gay life…
Wow, that's a seriously obscure reference - I'm guessing you're no teen, or if you are, you watch a LOT of movies to get to that one. When I was reaching adulthood, all movies with gay content were like that, and there was AIDS on top of that, so you really couldn't win.
Many of the m/f dramas I've watched use jealousy as the engine for the plot, and almost all of the time I think…
You're bolder than me - I was thinking "What happened to Copy?!? There's 20 kilos more of him!" But then COVID has been cruel to us all.
Eak also surprised me - we've never really seen him in anything but a baggy sweater, and that's a nice body he's got going there. I like his personality issues - his character is consistent and there's something helpless and childlike about him. It's also a nice departure from the standard seme/uke dynamic. Either he's the seme, in which case he's weaker and needs to be taken care of by the uke, or Phob is the seme, in which case, for the first time ever, the uke is taller than the seme. Or even better, no uke and seme at all.
Agree on lazy writing. Dramas that do that tend to have static characters who never develop. For straight dramas, at least the jealousy makes logical sense. In these I'm always asking "why are you jealous your gay boyfriend is talking to a girl?" Maybe that's the downside of I'm Not Gay (I only like butt sex with one guy).
Besides the plot being different, Given also has complex characters that have to overcome internal obstacles in character development arcs. So did ITSAY, which was wonderful despite being yet another Thai BL set in high school, blue shorts and all.
Wait, what did James do? Ait is being a spoiled little child and I really despise him. James did nothing wrong…
I agree - I really don't care much about James or Ait after all this - I hope they can just have a nice boring relationship off-sceen and let us see more of Bas & Marco.
At least these series is better than love by chance season 2 or tharntype season 2 or still together so please…
Maybe, but I wasn't expecting anything from TT2 or LBC2 - I WAS expecting something from this because the first season was so good, so this is a much greater disappointment and a much greater fall in quality.
I can’t argue with any of that. I’ve started to discover be careful what you wish for. I have been disappointed…
That makes sense. I'll have to get creative. If can't be The Holocaust>Cancer>Amore - more gradations are needed.
I got as far in this as I did with TT2 - LBC2 I didn't even bother with. I'd say this is better than TT2 because the leads are more attractive, but that's about it.
I don't know what happened - the first season was really good.
I'am looking just for understanding how far they can go to show us an absolutely horrible series. WHO agree with…
I'm with you - other than two very hot leads, there's nothing going for this. I can't do much more than skim it for sex stuff. The plot is an uninteresting jumble, and they've completely lost the complexity and social commentary of the first season. I don't know what happened.
7.9? Really? This is one of the best BL series I've seen - if it keeps this up, surely in my Top 3.
The music in Japanese series is so much better than the two-chord ballads that all sound the same. There's real harmonic complexity here, and they've obviously involved musicians in the production.
Anyway, this is hands down what I most look forward to every week.
Murder-suicide is a term used in the media for when someone murders their partner than commits suicide. Did you see the "not really" immediately after? Sorry for being patronizing if you're a native speaker.

The plot of the Anime seems quite different - I'll have to watch it - thanks!
