That makes a lot of sense. Maybe he's gay and was rejected by them.

Also, they started as enemies. If they don't end up together, I would be shocked but pleasantly surprised (not that I don't want them together - I just like to be surprised).

I think Shin Woo is clearly the main lead - although I only say "clearly" because he and Tae started out as enemies which is the surest sign they'll be lovers as this is a BL :) I hope Da On isn't left with nothing :( The only available main character is Shi Woon, but it looked to me like he was destined for the girl.

Was that a "no" or did he just forget she was waiting for him? I'll go back and re-watch for that - thanks for pointing it out.

That ep was much better for me. I still think Tae is really inconsistently written, but I'm glad they abandoned the half-hearted attempt to make him autistic - you either have to commit to that or not do it. But at least in this ep he had an active role. Before anyone loses their shit, what I mean is that they painted him as awkward to the point of autism at first, but here he says he deliberately creates distance between himself and others but got lonely so he's not doing that anymore. Before it seemed like he was just who he was and the teacher needed to prompt him to leave his safety zone. These aren't incompatible actions, but they're incompatible motivations.

There were several things to like - the air of mystery they gave Da On (I'm guessing his parents have rejected him or are dead), Woo Jin being the first BL character in the history of human civilization to actually call the police when there's a problem you should call the police for, and in general people behaving like people. Also, not one single tired trope!

I really hope they don't give us another horrible female villain and she has a turnaround when she realizes that everyone in the school is gay except whoever she ends up with (I'm guessing Woo Jin).

Also, way too much white makeup on the actors - I didn't notice that in previous eps, but a lot of this one was at night. It looks like they were using it to make Tae's chin look more pointy. For some reason Shin Woo looks twice as cute out of his uniform. Maybe it's coincidentally that he was being insecure and vulnerable in that scene.

I would have a very different opinion of this series if they made it half of the episodes and 46 min long each.…
I agree - there's too much filler, and it's getting tiresome. Nothing at all happened this ep - just the ex showing up in the last 5 seconds, and every single one of us watching knew he'd be there when Shi Lei arrived. I wasn't expecting that suit he was wearing, however.

okay, i get that the mother is a supportive one. I GET IT. but when is she going to get the fuck out of the house.…
She forgot something and she probably assumed they had left for work, plus she knows her son likes the director and also knows the director has his own room. But she should have knocked. That was a little bit of a cheap device to stop the boys from developing their relationship further, which I found tiresome in this ep for the first time.

Aah, these slow burn romances... Why do they have to stretch the plot like snot?
I like this show a lot, but this ep wasn't so much a slow burn as marching in circles. Let's move it foward. This whole episode was filler to get to the last 10 seconds.
On Be Loved in House: I Do Jul 8, 2021
OK, here's what I like - the characters are consistent, and largely act like real people. The chemistry is great, the acting is pretty good, and the guys are beautiful.

What I'm starting not to like is the pace. I don't mind slow burn at all, but running in circles I'm not a bug fan of - nothing at all progressed this episode. It was still cute, but the magic wasn't there for me.

Two things that are starting to bother me, and this is BL-wide, not confined to this series:

- Mussing people's hair. That is infantilization, not romantic. Most people would slap the hand of anyone that did that. I might not because I spend zero time on my hair, but most people will have to spend 10 minutes fixing the damage. In the case of this couple, it's their "thing" so it doesn't bother me. But it is accenting the age difference. I'd like to see Si Qi mess up Zhao Gang's hair, but ZG would probably slap his hand away and run to the bathroom for 10 minutes to fix it. Plus SQ would have to wash that bucket of grease off his hand.

- That ridiculous triple-take whenever anything important happens. It's bad enough when it's a kiss, but tackling someone onto the couch in triple-take was LOL stupid. When it's a romantic moment, it drains all the life out of it. I want to see the big kiss, not get car-sick from the jerking perspective.

The White Van of Death is trying to fool us with that blue paint job. We're watching you, White Van of Death! [Shakes fist]

i CANNOT STOP LAUGHING at the music playing in the show critiques like it must truly be bad pjshgao
When you see the scene, it might take a moment for you to even realize what's happening. I was thinking, "is this some form of really strange traditional Thai music?" before it sank in that they were trying to play normal pop.

This production company already has a history with a previous series. I like myself despite the flaws. I love…
Including a trans character isn't inclusive if they're a caricalture that is only there to be comedy relief, lascivious, and ridiculous. It's inclusive if the trans character has an important role in the story as a real human being, like in Stranger's Kiss. In fact, it's distinctly negative and perpetuates very negative stereotypes.

I'm not done with One Day yet, so I can't address your point about the message yet - I'm specifically commenting here on production problems. But in terms of messaging, it was hard to get through the four minutes of being lectured at the beginning. This isn't a public service announcement - covering an important issue is legitimate and valuable, but in a visual medium, you have to show what you're trying to say, not tell it by having a static shot and having someone read you something.

The first think you do if you want to improve your abilities is subject your work to criticism. If everyone tells you everything you do is fantastic, then why would you need to improve? People are telling you yoyu're great, so why change a winning formula?

I would argue that in BL, the most important thing is BL, not a positive message, although I think it's nice when there's both. But quality of writing matters - a good message written poorly is not as good as one that's well-integrated into the story. Likewise, quality of production matters - although I think it's important to make allowances for very low budgets and support companies like this that are operating with very little in the way of resources.

That I'm watching it at all is support - if this were a larger studio, I would have jumped ship after the first five minutes. There are enough positive qualities to make me stay, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't point out negative qualities. Otherwise, why are we here in a discussion forum?

The issue isn't a 27-year old playing a high schooler, it's writing yet another high school story when you have…
Ho would I know I don't like it if I don't watch it? Why do people always make this inane statement? Also, why are people frequenting a discussion session if they don't want to discuss anything? Not everything in BL is good, and not everything is going to be positive. The reason that there is so much that's repetitive and formulaic is that nobody expects or asks for more.

When someone does something different, people get excited - like KinnPorhe if that ever happens - but the point is rarely recognized that the excitement is because of the change of pace. That and 1,000 stars were among the most anticipated series of the last year - why?

In this case, sure, the leading couple is one we want to see, and that's great - but wouldn't it be nice to see them in something other than the same story over and over?

Casting people that old in a high school drama underscores the lack of creativity in the genre - why do it? If you have to have a high school drama, then that's where you put new faces. If you are creating a series more or less solely to showcase a specific couple, why would you not make the story age-appropriate? Because that's not the formula.

To be fair, producers do have to deal with the issue of getting sponsors, and its harder to get money behind something that's different, and that does provide impetus to repetition.
On One Day Pag-ibig Jul 8, 2021
So far this is terrible, but the production has cleverly put Allen Caguioa on my screen so I can't turn away. The drowning scene was LOL awful, from the poorly-staged collision to drowning in 3 feet of water while the friends just argued with each other about who should save him. However, Allen in a wet tank top.

The editing is non-existent, the sound is not worse than usual zero-budget production, the acting is bad, and again, gay and trans characters are reduced to pathetic caricatures, while the main pair are, as usual, straight boys. Sigh.

But because I'm shallow, I will watch this.

Well, to be fair, BL damp towels do have magical powers. They can remove fevers (usually caused by rain touching anyone's skin), banish hangovers and drunkenness, and probably cure cancer. I don't know if they can stop the White Van of Death, but fortunately that spends most of its time in Taiwan.

Speaking of injuries, I don't understand how Sun can be 100% healed in 24 hours from a knife slash, but only takes 10 seconds to drown in shallow water. It's too bad Sky forgot to bring his damp towel.

Instead of the rainbows & unicorns date, this would have been a good spot for Sun to teach Sky self-defense, which could have involved some cute roughhousing and playing around, plus lots and lots of opportunity to see Boat flexing those muscles. Then a nice long shower scene for Sun, during which the bad guys could strike. I'm sure he would pause to throw on shorts before fighting them, but you can't have everything.
