Great acting of Michael... incredible!
I couldn't agree more - that was one of the best performances ever in a BL. He didn't have much screen time, but he dominated every second he was in.

I don't understand what you mean either... I thought it touched on serious issues and if anything it was too short…
I've noticed the director is controversial with a segment of BL fandom - but I'm genuinely interested to hear what @crib means.

I liked this series, specially Michael's acting. Wow, I cried almost the entire episode.
Daniel's acting was phenomenal too - more subtle, but if he hadn't held up his end those scenes wouldn't have been as powerful.

This show is superb - not one of my favorites and obviously low budget but one of the best acted bls out there.…
I agree with all this. I loved Marco's outfit in the finale, and I generally can't stand 80's fashion trends lately.

Where did you hear that about Michael? I'm sure he's just getting absorbed into the role like a good actor. Hopefully not as absorbed as Heath Ledger... :(

Hopefully we get more Bas and Marco next season, great chemistry.
I hope so - they're both incredibly good actors. It's not often you can get that moved by two people who are hardly in something. Also, Marco's not hard to look at. Bas too, and although I hate to be shallow and buy into his oppression, it's largely his hot body.

For me, my "meh" reaction is that Pi is such a self-abosrbed asshole that I don't want Mork to be with him - I…
Mork has explicitly told him several times that he doesn't like Nan and that rather he likes Pi, and his behavior overwhelmingly demonstrates that that is the case. Mork hasn't ever ruined Pi's plans for Nan - Pi always does that himself (I'm not blaming him for that - sh#$ happens).

I also get that Pi will have trust issues due to his past experiences, but that doesn't give him the right to be rude to people - and not just a little bit rude. Extremely rude. There are people I have to be around that I absolutlely loathe, but they'll never know it because I have manners.

I agree, it isn't a crime to not like someone back - but it isn't OK to be rude to them, and continue to treat them as if they're a rival when they've definitively told you they don't have those feelings and have demonstrated it in action.

I'm a little surprised to hear you say "It makes sense why he would be rude to Mork" - there is zero reason for him to be rude to Mork. There is zero reason to be rude to anyone, ever. It's never necessary. There are ways of defending yourself that don't involve being horrible.

Are you ever rude? It doesn't seem like it - I'm an anonymous stranger who strongly disagrees with you but your response was very polite. Would you be rude if we were talking in person? You'd probably be even nicer.

I'm confused by what you mean. What long-distance pining? Mork couldn't possibly be more direct and obvious. He…
Oh, I see. I wasn't thinking about Pi's crush on Nan - I almost forgot about that. True, that is more long-distance and actually seems a lot more realistic to me than Mork's crush on Pi, so I agree with you completely on that score.

The reason I think Pi is awful is not because of his confusion so much as his horrendous rudeness, and not just to Mork, although that's to the point of being unforgivable - Mork has never done anything but be extremely kind to him. Mork even gave him his lab coat, and Pi knows that Mork will have the same problems in class that he would for not having it - and not even a thanks - he acted as if making a sacrifice was a hostile act.

I'm kind of a hard-liner for politeness. I once broke up with a guy for being rude to a waiter (which is worse than being rude to a peer, I'll admit, due to the power imbalance). I can get over impatience and snapping, but you have to apologize afterwards - and if you don't even realize you were rude, then you're probably not a good person. I can't give someone a free pass just because they're the protagonist. I'll get over it, but if he continues to be this bad to Mork it will start to get hard to get past - we're nearly halfway through the series now!

I agree, but Tum looks awful good in those knit shirts. I couldn't get into the ending because I don't understand…
I think for domestic-aimed content it's less common now - but a lot of American media is aimed at foreigh, especially Chinese markets, so all the gay is scrubbed from everything. That's why there's much less mainstream LGBTQ+ representation than there used to be, although in material aimed at Americans there's much more.

That's why you will never, ever, ever see a gay Star Wars character - they want to sell to China.

I'm very calm - I think maybe you're projecting.

That was really good - I needed a palate cleaner after the vapid FUTS.

Although there were some inexplicable technical problems. The bad car effects were distracting - I don't think they needed to be perfect, but I felt like I was in the 1990s. Even that I don't have a huge issue with because the budget is obbiously incredibly low.

But the sound issues were not OK. Didn't anyone notice the incredibly loud plastic crinkling sounds when people were eating? That intruded on the car scene, which already had its issues.

Anyway, the writing and acting were superb. Michael - wow , that guys needs to be in a lot more - he is fantastic. And Daniel, too. I thought Marco was cute, but in this ep he is gorgeous. And that outfit was amazing. I want it.

This is the first time in a BL we've seen any sort of realistic fallout from someone being abused - especially the kind of trauma someone so young and innocent would experience with such a bad violation of trust from an authority figure. Powerful stuff.

A second season isn't really needed, but it will definitely be interesting to get an insider's view of the publicity circus. I don't think we get that at all from the also-vapid Lovely Writer, where somehow even BL actors are mega-rich and loaded with 1st-world problems.

Like everything from this director, too much bragging and too little content.
I don't understand what you mean - it was the opposite of that.

I don't have anything against GMMTV (except their tendency to ruin endings. And I appeciate how easy it is to access their shows), but I don't particularly like this show, except for Mork and Duean. It's starting to become ridiculous that Pi can't see that Mork is into him, and it's starting to seem ridiculous that Mork is into Pi - why? He's horrible! I want Mork to find someone nicer. Like Mussolini or Vladimir Putin. Or any of the other 3.5 billion men on earth.

I love this series for portraying crush culture so well. I've subtly tried doing so much for my crush, just like…
I'm confused by what you mean. What long-distance pining? Mork couldn't possibly be more direct and obvious. He says ever scene that he likes Pi and wants to be with him. What I don't get is why? If someone were as awful a human being as Pi, I would lose my crush for him instantly.
On Fish upon the Sky May 7, 2021
I can't stop watching this because of Mork and Duean, but I'm having to resist fast-forwarding. The problem with the story is that it's dependent on a misunderstanding so ridiculous that it takes me right out of the story. Nobody, and I mean nobody, even someone blind, deaf, and lobotomized, could possibly miss how much Mork is into them. And nobody could possibly not fall in love with Mork if he treated them like that. Even if he were Hitler's grandson. Heck, even if he were actually Hitler. Come on!

The other issue is although Phuwin is doing a good acting job, Pi is such a total dick that I don't want Mork to be with him - he deserves so much better than this rude, insensitive and self-absorbed asshole. But I'm even starting to lose respect for Mork - why does he continue to go after a nasty little child that's so awful to him? Doesn't he have any self-resepect?

You might if you were wearing polyester uniform slacks like that. Or even if they're wool. Especially if you've never gone commando before.

I had to wait for 84 years for them to finally sub part 4 of ep5...that hurt my heart man.I really enjoyed this…
For me, my "meh" reaction is that Pi is such a self-abosrbed asshole that I don't want Mork to be with him - I want him to get someone better. And the plot depends on a misunderstanding so totally implausible that it's just silly.

It's totally been like that in the USA - although that kind of thing has been in the decline, and the motive was often a little different. A lot of American actors are gay or LGBTQ+ of some stripe, and so they were married off to their co-stars to hide it. Now nobody cares about that anymore so it's not happening as much. There's also the marketing of couples similar to what we see in BL, but it's general reserved to big names. Maybe that's because the media market is so much bigger.
