A lot of people only like BL for cute romance - I think they'll be put off by all the humor, plus Pi is kind of a dick. Most romances have an appealing main character, not a crazy dork. I like that this is different, but it's also very stressful to watch due to the secondary embarassment - I think a lot of people don't like that either. If you look at the comments, they seem to be getting progressively negative, but we'll see.
OK, every BL writer needs to go and get drunk so they can write alcohol scenes. You are not going to suddenly mistake someone who is 6 inches taller than the person you think it is after a single drink. You will not mistake someone like that after 6 drinks. You will not throw up after one drink, probably not after 3, and a lot of people won't at all. Alcohol will physically impair you and lower your inhibitions, but you will not do things that disgust you while sober.
Alcohol is used for magical plot devices, and I'm starting to see that people actually believe that's how it works. Which is good, because you shouldn't be getting drunk. But it's lazy writing. I didn't think the ending made sense.
I loved the Duean story this ep - it was a little slapstick, but funny anyway.

If you check the chart, it's not too fishy. It dropped a lot right after last week's episode, so I guess people didn't like it. It's drifted slowly down since then. Last week's ep wasn't the best - this one is so much better.
So that was fine - not the best ep, but they did resolve a few things and Nick finally had a decent day. I hope the subtitles were off a little and that boy that talked to him is not a player like he sounded, but he was at least handsome.
The writing continues to surprise me, with someone actually passwort proecting their phone and Chol's clever solution - I don't know if that would really work, but it was fun in the ep.
The music was on way too loud - you could tell they had to turn it down whenever Chol was speaking because his voice is so soft.
I don't know what Tri doesn't just go for the twins - not every high school kid has a threeseom thrown at him. I'm kidding. And yet not.
question what is with the shirt off intro to me it seems a little creep to me ?
It seems to bother a lot of people. I don't get why - I think it's cute. I'm in the minority. BLs are full of shirtless guys, so it's not something new - maybe it bothers people because they are wondering what they have on below.
Is the series rated low because of the acting/writing or because of the step brother thing?
It's because of the step brother thing. When it first started, this section was full of negative comments about that. In the story, they just met and they're close in age.
I think it's a wonderful show. I'm usually not into something this cute and pleasant, but it's refreshing to see people actually resolve problems by addressing them instead of sulking for days to montages of good times together instead of just talking it through.
The acting gets progressively better. I had some trouble getting into it for a couple of eps, but then it kind of became one of my favorites airing.
Whatever you want to say about Aoey, Bruce owned this episode. That was a spectacular performance. It was genuinely difficult to watch, and he's the only character painted with depth, and I think credit goes to Bruce - Aoey could have been a typical 2D villain.
Up continues to do his best with a character without a character. How would you describe him? The only thing I can think of is "grumpy and frumpy man who is afraid of everyting and things are done to him." What is Sib's character? Can you really describe him? There's nothing to him except his obsession for Gene.
Today was supposed to be character development, but it wasn't - it was a light-switch going off. One minute he won't let Sib touch him, the next he's getting f#$%ed. One minute he has no clue about his sexuality, the next he's publicly proclaiming he's gay and sleeping with the guy whose parents are right there.
And that was so slow. I set it on 1.25 at one point and I forgot. And even then I was finding it slow. Every scene needs to be tightened up.
And what is it? Drama? Comedy? Satire? The tonal shifts are too great. You can have humor in serious scenes - you don't have to make everything one or the other. When Sib asked Gene if he was bored of him, he should have said "yes". That would have been cute and it would be nice for him to turn the tables on the teasing. But it was a romantic scene, so it had to be 100% syrup.
I don't hate the show or anything, but I don't get the level of love for it. It's bascially a formulaic BL with nothing original to say with two good actors (Up & Bruce), and a bunch of average ones. And a super hot one (Ken), but that's just me. I would rate the series a 7.5 so far.
I dont understand the love this show is getting. Frankly, I'm extremely disappointed. Gene is a terrible character,…
I agree. I know Up is doing his best, but Gene doesn't really have a character. He's the author inserting herself into the story as a self-indulgent fantasy, so no real thought has gone into his character development, and so there is none. That's actually common in Thai BLs. They are uncomplicated plots and conflict is mostly driven by external events, and so characters remain static, or have instantaneous shifts (like Type - virulent homophobe one minute, proposing anal sex the next - except it worked in TT because the whole show was nuts). Sib hasn't changed at all the entire series - nobody has.
The scene in the hotel was bizarre - Gene had zero agency. He even just stared unmoving when Aey was leaning in for a kiss. WTF? He completely freaks out whenever Sib comes anywhere near him but he was going to let Aey kiss him.
And the chance of that happening at dinner was close to dinner. I'm glad they're not going to drag it out forever, but that seemed really contrived to me.
LOL, I set it on 1.25 yo get through it and forgot. I didn't realize it until an a cappella section of a song. It was so incredibly slow - this really needs tighter editing.
This series doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a comedy? Is it serious? Is it a satire? The tonal shifts are giving me whiplash, or they would if it weren't so glacial in pacing.
i was so uncomfortable during the confrontation scene. i felt so.......weird and nervous as if it was happening…
I largely agree - but two things: parents have a way of mapping out in their heads what their children's lives will be like, and there are a few basics that are largely the norm (marriage & kids). This would come as a shock to even tolerant parents (if they had no clue).
Gene wasn't really fair in the confrontation scene - he should have given his parents a little time to process. I'm not blaming him, but this isn't something like "I got my ear pierced" or "I got an A- on a test." Everyone deserves time to process.
I agree about fangirl gushing - they want cuteness, that's all that's really important. But the level of acceptance in Asian cultures has started a hugely positive trend in the last couple of years, and some of the credit for that has to go to fujoshis. Yes, they're fetihizing gay men and contributing to our exploitation without any real effort on behalf of our rights, but visibility is a huge part of the battle, so their contribution is material.
I don't think they broke up? My interpretation of it was that they were mirroring the song. When Fluke says 'can…
I meant more like it wasn't going to work out in the end. You can get over a fight, but if you don't know how you partner feels about you, there's a fundamental problem. In any case, to me, if the intent was to show that everything is fine, I didn't get that feeling.

I don't mean breakup so much as a fading relationship. After 3 years you settle down and it's less intense, but not THAT much less intense. If the intent was to show that everything is just fine, I don't think it succeeded.
The quality of that was high. For me the romance almost worked, but not quite - unless it meant to show that their relationship is essentially over, in which case it was mission accomplished. Ohm's character was so neglectful that I don't really believe he loves Fluke. The scene where he's about to kiss him and then doesn't because he has to get ready - you can't spare a single second?
The big red flag is the one Fluke pointed out - he doesn't ever talk to him about what he's doing. He gets " It's work. What can I tell you?" Yeah, boring stuff, like recording with a big star Fluke is a fan of. Nothing to discuss there. You want to talk about things you're doing with people you love. Look at all of us - we don't even know each other and we want to discuss our shows together.
And Fluke - I might break up with someone who shows up and throws a scene like that. That was seriously crossing the line.
Anyway, that was well-written otherwise - people said things people would say.
Ohm's acting seems to have really improved, although he had a lot more here to do than in UWMA, where he just had to stand around and stare.
Your point is well-made. I think you're very perceptive. As "Jessica Brown" says, don't apologise for your opinion.…
Shakespeare had a guy trip and fall and get caught by another guy and they stare at each other until they turn gay? Was that Romeo and Mercutio? Come to think of it, I remember a scene where Paris trips on the stairs and lands into an accidental kiss with Romeo. That must be where BL got it from.
The cliffhanger was making fun of a trope - a lot of series end like that and then nobody ever make the sequel (think about Addicted/Heroin). I thought it was perfect.
Alcohol is used for magical plot devices, and I'm starting to see that people actually believe that's how it works. Which is good, because you shouldn't be getting drunk. But it's lazy writing. I didn't think the ending made sense.
