What happened to the subtitles? The cc button is there and it's on English, but there's nothing. I can see in the youtube comments that they used to be there.
Speaking 100% facts!! This show is unfortunately ruining a lot of pairings I was super excited to see :(
This was the couple I was most looking forward to. I also wanted to see Chap (Tue) in a lead role, and he was fine, I guess. At least his pair had some chemistry - I don't know what happened here because they had it in Why RU. I think it might be that Nat isn't great at playing a minx.
The story might have worked better if Nuea had realized he'd gone overboard, then had to win Sun back by getting to know him instead of sexually harassing him.
I think maybe the writers don't know how. The formula is the taller one is always the seme, the shorter one the uke, and the seme always takes care of the uke. I think they view them as different sexes or something, because the divide is so stark. Fine then, why not have Nat be the uke?
That was a little confusing. Not the plot - that I could follow, but what the main character is feeling. If he didn't know the second guy, then why was there the slo-mo montage of all their good times together (all one day of it).
At least they're trying something new. Although, ironically, the main character could really use an engineer and a doctor to help him figure out what's going on.
I loved this couple and I don't even know why, because it wasn't good.
Because Nat can pull off those outfits and the large height difference. If Max had been playing Nuea & Nat playing Sun, the discussion going on here would be much, much different.
We don't know if Sun is Out - if he's not, Nuea just destroyed his life with that live-stream, not to mention the relentless and severe sexual harassment.
I liked it because it was very funny and MaxNat is my favourite BL couple. There were so many cute moments!
I really like them as a couple too. But 2 hours of run time and no story - it's disappointing. Much less happened in that time than their storyline in Why RU, and that had about 10 minutes total.
What's the story in these 2 eps? Boy tutors bratty boy. Brat relentlessly pursues tutor and they get together. The end. That's it.
Consent love? Nuea was all over a clearly unwilling Sun for 1.5 episodes. It doesn't matter if his suspected Sun…
That makes sense, and it's true, he did restrain himself. There is a slight issue that since Nuea is paying Sun, he holds some power in the relationship. (Client vs service provider) The intensity of Nuea's come-ons, especially as Sun was demonstrably unwilling (I'm sure he wanted it, but he was unwilling to do it) to the point it was feeling coercive.
It seemed more mild because Sun is so much bigger than Nuea - but imagine how it would have looked if the actors were switched and Max were playing Nuea, or if Sun were a woman (not played by Max).
I think the point of this series is to provide "moments". So its going to be pure cotton candy. I you are worried…
The problem is that's it's seven different stories - you can just drop a series that isn't working for you, but I'm sort of interested in a lot of these pairings. I think I'll just have to give up earlier.
I understant it's a continuation of Stranger's Kiss, which didn't really end.
Agree - they can't be doing this to squeeze money out of it - I'm sure Stranger's Kiss was made at a loss. I love LJ and I also loved that there was finally a trans character who had agency and relevance to the story.
i'm sorry this is a whole essay but i just want to vent first of all i want to say that i think max and nat’s…
I'm with you on this. I actually preferred the Tue story, even though it had an even worse abrupt change, at least for ep 2 they behaved consistently and were sweet to each other.
Here they didn't do anything at all to get to know each other, so their attraction must be almost entirely physical. Not that I wouldnt have that reaction to Max, but still.
This was a mess, where nothing happened for 2 hours. How would you describe the two characters? Nuea: does not understand boundaries, progressive dresser. Sun: things happen to him.
Max could probably be an excellent comic actor if given the right vehicle. Nat can probably never pull off a sexy and seductive character. The clothes worked on him, but everything else made me cringe for 2 hours, which was nothing but slo-mo cliches.
This was more run time than a feature film - there was plenty of space to do a really unteresting story, but they failed completely to even try. Why is Nuea like he is? Why does he like Sun (and accidental kiss doesn't count)? Why does Sun like Nuea? What are their situations? What the barriers to their being together?
Plus, Nuea is awful - he stole Sun's wallet and ruined his week - he probably had to spend hours filling out paperwork to get all his IDs replaced. Everything he did was manipulative and transgressive.
O.K. In Ep. 4, I don't quite understand who "Team" is. A Senior who Neuah is practicing "Dialogue" with? What…
It doesn't matter. It was just an artificial plot device to insert drama. Paint by the numbers writing. They even had Nuea fall for Sun due to an accidental kiss. Both stories feel like they gave the writer one night to write all seven stories and he just threw things in a heap and hoped for the best.
I really don't get how anyone liked this. I can usually at least see why people like things I don't, but not here. The writing was terrible, the characters - well they had no character. Sum up who they are in the sentence. I'm trying, but I can't. Nuer: cute immature brat who has no boundaries. That's the best I can come up with. Sun: attractive man who is good at academics who lets things happen to him.
Is there more than that? WHAT do they like about each other? Nuea says it was because of an accidental kiss. So he couldn't even see his face but he knew he liked him? I guess because he felt how hard his body is and likes muscles? And I can see knew reason why Sun likes Nuea other than the obvious physical reasons.
And the change in Sun was even more sudden than Tue in the previous story, where at least the pair had a lot of bonding, common interests, and a clear and strong mutual attraction.
These two had zero chemistry until the last scene - for the rest of the story Sun was leaning as far from Nuea as possible and looking uncomfortable, and to be honest, I'm not sure these were the best types of roles for these actors.
Nuea wasn't even really effeminate - he just dressed that way, so it's like they were afraid to go all the way, Nat was able to pull off those looks, but it didn't feel natural or "fabulous" like if it were Gun (Green in 2gether), Poppy, or Ohm Pawat, who would have probably killed several people with the mesh shirt and fur outfit.
Gonna say SunNuea really kill it. I really love the struggle and inner battle Sun had when he was really that…
Consent love? Nuea was all over a clearly unwilling Sun for 1.5 episodes. It doesn't matter if his suspected Sun liked him - Sun didn't say he did, and it was inappropriate to be that aggressive. Also, Sun rubbed his face all over Nuea's when he was sleeping, which isn't consent.
First of all i want to say that i have enjoyed this series so far.Every couple seems to have only 2 epsidodes…
I had no problem wiyh Nuea's clothing (except that some of it was too big for him), I had a problem with the bad writing, lack of coherent character development, and the total lack of substance to their relationship, reducing it to a physical attraction and nothing else.
Quote: "We had both of them proclaim they're not gay, they just like one guy, which is the worst BL cliche and…
Quantity of tropes does matter. It's like when someone is a noisy eater - I can tolerate it for a short while, then I lose my appetite or start feeling homicidal thoughts (not really).
Have you been drinking? Anyway, I actually quite like this series - the two leads are good, and if the color is…
I'm right there with you. I used to have a 3-ep rule, but now I'm using a 3-min rule. There are way too many BLs out and the quality seems to be declining overall. This one has enough in it to hold me, mainly what Kai looks like shirtless and the chemistry of the main pair.
Not clear on what you are referencing here. "They" both did "what?"
"I'm not gay, I only love_______". They both said it - a new low. Hopefully next ep will focus more on the brothers, because Li Cheng & Mu Ren are unadulterated paint-by-hte-numbers yaoi and their story has become so predictable that it's boring to me.
Before, I thought they might take it in new directions, but as usual, everything veers to the conventional halfway through and one of the characters in the pair suddenly transmutes from a strong independent person into a Victorian girl. It's only a matter of time before Xing Si starts packing Yong Jie's lunches and faints every other episode.
It's almost comical how yours and my takes on TOATS and H4CTY are almost flipped one hundred percent. Oh well.
Still thought I was talking to someone else. Sorry - he loves TOATS. I was going to give it a seven after ep 8 & 9 but it partially redeemed itself in the last ep, so I think a 9. But maybe I'll give it an 8.5 just for you.
Wow. My impression of this episode was pretty much 180 degrees from yours. I loved this episode despite its flaws. In…
Sorry, when I responded to this I was very tired and in my mind I confused you with "the blocked guy". Don't hurt me. You can probaby see that my response would make more sense if it were addressed to him.
TOATS was good for the acting, mostly from Earth. The rest of the acting was good, but not on his level. The story was very conventional, other than not being about engineering students for once, and full of tropes.
My point was that Li Cheng has been just as aggressive and transgressive as Yong Jie and I was pointing out the hypocrisy of condemning one and loving the other - obviously that doesn't apply to you.
I don't have any problem with anything anyone in this show is doing, and I'd have to think about it to decide if this or Call It What You Want is the best thing on right now. I would have said this until this ep, where it took a bad turn for the worse for me - not because of anyone's behavior, but because of the fallback on the most tired tropes in the genre - it seems to have abandoned the darker more psycological tone it had before.
I don't have any particular issue with fujoshis in BL - it just depends on the individual character. This one is cute and matters to the plot. The one in Oxygen was so irritating that I had to FF through any scene she was in.
If you look at the line of acceptance of gay equality in Asia, it's taken a huge leap pretty much everywhere in the last 2-3 years - I think a lot of that is thanks to fujoshis.
