except this sentence "i DoN't LiKe GuYs I jUsT LiKe HiM" ( ̄へ ̄)will writers die if they not use it in…
It was, before it got so cliched that most writers stopped using it. Sexuality is a thing. All my closest friends are women, and I long for their company, but there's zero chance I can ever fall in love with a woman (romantically) no matter how perfect they are for me in every way (except one). If "true love" means extremely close friendship, then maybe. if it involves sex, then absolutely not.
I literally said "Oh my god" out loud when Li Cheng said that. It feels so outdated now, and for me this series…
1,000 Stars (nobody said they were gay, but it was strongly implied both were), about 50% of Filipino BLs, Nation's Brother (Vietnam), Cupid Coach, maybe Brothers (since 100% of the entire population of the city is gay, it doesn't actually need to be said, but it's more or less granted) I'm sure we could come up with others.
I've more or less lost interest after this ep - last ep was already fairly dull, but I had to take two breaks to get through this one.
Hate to break it to you, but MODC was also full of no consent (both couples), and also had “I’m not gay I…
I would have disagreed until this episode. This was so bad I don't think it can come back from it. It felt like "how many tired tropes can we stuff into an episode?" It's still beautifully filmed, but other than that it was boring and I had a hard time sitting through it.
That was the worst episode so far, and was bad by general BL standards. Li Cheng veered from very creepy to wise and sad in a way that was very inconsistent and blurred his character.
We had both of them proclaim they're not gay, they just like one guy, which is the worst BL cliche and I thought we were moving past that.
Li Cheng and Mu Ren were both awful this episode, Li Cheng being way too aggressive with someone who said no, and Mu Ren using a woman to deny his feelings, which confusion is OK in a high school student but not a 30-year old man. Also, it's gross when someone licks you. People only do that to tease people, and everyone always flinches in disgust. It was really weird an creepy. And LC just said he developed feelings for Mu Ren by watching him masturbate naked while on rape drugs. How romantic.
I'm not too interested in the Li Cheng/Mu Ren storyline because it's so conventional and predictable, but it's usually at least entertaining, even really funny. My initial fear was right - it's too hard to blend cartoonish humor with seriousness. Their interaction needs to be high-octane, and it was just really sagging in energy, although it was hot how easily Li Cheng could pin both of Mu Ren's arms with one hand. Other than that, all their scenes dragged. I even skipped the final "sad song on roof with montage" routine.
The Xing Si/Yong Jie plot progressed but somehow seemed not to, which is sort of the theme for the episode, I guess. I presume Yong Jie is hiding dad's condition because he knows Xing Si will blame himself, but why isn't mom saying anything?
Also, the "anyone over 50 who gets angry will have a heart attack" cliche is getting old too. I'm guessing he really didn't and just fainted. But people over 50 can get angry without fainting.
And there it is. EDIT: The both did it. I guess that's sort of different. Not in a good way, but I don't think I've seen it before. Now we just need Yong Jie to say it and we have a trifecta of awful.
Ugh. I'm taking a break halfway through. This has taken a horrible turn toward the conventional and I'm trying not to skip over the Mu Ren dinner with his date. If anyone says "I'm not gay, I only like _______", I may start skipping things.
The only thing that's still superior is the camera work - that mirror shot in the hotel room was beautiful.
Also, I'm assuming nobody will comment on Li Cheng's aggressiveness - pinning someone immobile after they've said "no" is not OK with someone that visibly unwilling. (I'm not bothered be it). But the lick was gross.
The worst thing you can do in a visual medium is have a voice-over narration that explains everything to you. If you can't show us these things, then go home. The only time there's ever an excuse for that is if the voice-over contradicts what we're seeing.
The acting is terrible, the pacing is glacial, nothing about the story is interesting. I couldn't get through the first episode, so just in case I was not in the mood the first time I tried, I went back to finish it. I didn't exactly finish it because I had to fast-foward through scenes too painful to watch.
Ep 1 was the worst BL episode I've ever seen. It went downhill from there.
I like Aki, I like Drei, I like how Darrell Castillo looks with his shirt off (or on) a lot, none of those are enough to make me sit through this.
I think you are wrong about the budget, it's have bigger budget than a lot of others series, that is why they…
OK, but "inappropriate" is different than "sick". I don't agree that there's anything wrong with it, but I can see why people would - but it's a bit strange to criticize something for being exploitative when the entire genre is by its nature exploitative.
How about instead of talking about the director and people with different opinions than ours, let’s all speak…
I think it's one of the best BLs to air so far this year. It's dark, but rings true. I've never really seen Michael Kiettisak in action before - he's really good.
Can someone give me a little background on why this series is bringing out such a large volume of unhinged people? Apparently the director is controversial, but there doesn't appear to be any substantial reason. Did he murder a bunch of people?
At first I thought it was funny that people could get that worked up over light entertainment, but now it's starting to seem really sad - I feel bad that people can be so empty inside that their sense of self is that ntwined with what strangers on the internet think.
2 moons 2 wasn'tTHAT bad. It wasn't good, but there's been worse. I would think people would be piling on the director of What the Duck or something. Maybe En of Love Tossara.
I so agree on that Nat is better suited (at least for now) as the sweet and innocent one (like in his previous…
They could save the situation by it all being from insecurity, but I feel like we've already been subjected to an entire episode of the cringe. I'm totally OK with a younger & smaller person being the more aggressive one, but if this were the other way around, the reaction here would likely be much, much more negative.
The actors in BL are more vulnerable, though, and the main issue in this is not shipping, it's sexual harassment.
My parents were very loving but not terribly forthcoming about "the sex stuff" because one comes from a blue-collar background and the other is Muslim. Also, the gay thing. I came out to them when I was 22 and my dad gave me "the talk". It's hard to imagine anything more mortifying than having your father give you a lecture on the proper way to have safe gay sex.
I think you may be benefitting from being Italian. The rest of us are seuxally repressed. Opinion on this board is about evenly split between people who think sex while drunk is by definition rape and those who don't - or if I'm wrong, I've raped and been raped (usually simulaneously) by a very large number of people. (I'm old.) So parents are doing something, I'm just not sure it's the right thing.
His wife shouldn't let him anywhere near that school. He's the only heterosexual (allegedly) man left in town.…
I forgot to mention - the acting does get better, especially from Prab. Being a smart-ass is not his strong-suit. He's better at being sweet and loving. Chon just has to be an awkward teen, which is apparently not difficult for him.
Personally, I love being objectified. Or I did love it when it used to happen. Sigh.If people could just take…
The marketing material had a different actor for that role, so the person they chose probably didn't work out for some reason - maybe they had to take what they could get. Another reason to pay actors better.
