Marriage is the only contract in the world where you need the consent of both parties to cancel it. The only one.…
Thanks for the info. I did know about the divorce- that you need consent from both parties in a no-fault divorce, but I didn't realize it was so hard to get counseling or to separate your person from them (live separately) even if not legally divorced yet. I thought giving an ultimatum for either counseling or him packing up and moving might be an alternative, but from what you are saying it seems tough.
My main confusion with his solution though, is that he didn't seem to even attempt other methods before employing the fake affair. If he did we didn't see it. Did he even try to tell her he was miserable and wanted a divorce? There might be even more to his side of the story, but I can only go off what I know so far.
I totally was not expecting such a reasonable reason for him to want a divorce XD Seeing how miserable Eun Bum was in his marriage, I can totally see why he wanted to divorce, but did he really have to pick the most drastic method that was guaranteed to hurt her the most? I get that he didn't actually cheat, but the fake affair caused her just as much pain as him actually cheating would have, so I really can't agree with his solution.
Has he never heard of counseling or separation? While I guess he can't force her to divorce, he doesn't necessarily have to live with her. That being said, I like that they are trying to show problems within the legal system, like how hard it can be to get out of a miserable marriage if only one of you is miserable. The fact that it's the man wanting out this time is something new.
I agree it is weird but something tells me the friend might have been the one who asked to be set up. He said…
I also wasn't sure so I went back to look xD it was on their first date. He told Eun Bum he was a fan, and Eun Bum told him he knew her. He later found out that Eun Bum knew her from being married.

I meant the surprise part more than anything, and the fact that she thinks he cheated on her, so she has hates his guts. It seems kind of inconsiderate that he would take it upon himself to set her up with anyone, but yeah I think you're right and the sml liked her from before and wanted to be set up with her.
Didn't the sml say to fl that he found out later that she had been married to his friend?
It seems really f-d up that the ml would set his ex up on a "surprise" blind date. With his friend no less. Now the client he takes on is the woman he allowed the fl to think cheated with him. It's a slap in the face, so I understand the fl wanting to drag him to hell, but she's dragging herself along with him..
Being a late joiner makes her feel like an outsider and one who offers nothing, not even a spark. < her not having…
That makes sense, but I do wish they would have spent more time developing Gu Nam's character. They could have done away with the other 2 villains. They were useless.

Heh but that's one of the reasons I didn't vibe with him. Where were his mental problems years ago? Did he develop them in prison? What did he go through there. We don't know, and his student turning him in did not feel like enough to make him go psycho, so when I saw him laughing maniacally, it took me out. It seemed unnecessary to write him that way. He could have just wanted to drag CF down because he was hurt by his betrayal and wanted him to suffer the same. I thought that was enough.
YES- I loved the dynamic between Robin and CF. Their difference in personalities made them perfect friends. They complimented each other so well and covered up each other's weaknesses with their strengths. It also got very interesting as they started to reveal other sides of themselves and their dark history.
"playing Sherlock Holme was more of a means to deliver the messages"- You are so right! I went into this thinking light mystery/slice of life, but the way they used the cases to convey different messages made this drama a whole lot deeper and meaningful.
Your description of Su Yui as the "sunlight and warmth" of Monster Vintage is spot on.
regarding 2nd fl "she never truly seemed like a part of the team for me"- Exactly. This is what had been bothering me. Being a late joiner makes her feel like an outsider and one who offers nothing, not even a spark.
Personally, I did not empathize with Gu Nam. It's always illogical to blame someone else for our own behavior, but people do this all the time. In light of his feelings of betrayal, his resentment made sense, but they went too far with his character. He became a murderer and was smiling as he was hurting SY. I needed Gu Nam to show some feelings of hate mixed with hurt(rather than ego), and some feelings of guilt or regret even if he is already committed to his plan. He also had that stereotypical off-his-rocker villain laugh and had developed a split personality? A person can do bad things and still retain some of their senses.
"The whole show seemed like a piece of art, proven by 468 screenshots I took"- So much yes! I will have to count my screenshots, but I took A LOT
is there a way to unvote for a show lol. I realized right after adding that adoring is a rom-com oops sorry about that.(though it focuses more on the pets than romance) If adhering to the rules I would rather add Inseparable Bros or Little Forest

I can fully appreciate that. To each their own ; ) I am also curious how they will wrap things up. I've enjoyed our interaction. It's not always easy to have a civil conversation with differing opinions in the comment section :D
For the people trying to explain away the plot twist, the main reason is there was zero indication in the writing…
I absolutely agree. The added thriller aspect of the twist changed the tone of the first 12 eps. Feels like a totally different drama I am watching. Tbh, I haven't liked the direction of the writing since the 2nd fl showed up. She could have been made sympathetic, but she was written to be like all the other obsessive and delusional 2nd leads, just to add unnecessary drama. Hae Ahn's character also lacks consistency, causing much confusion.
But, well that is the point made here in the drama. Aka good or rather normal people who make bad choices and…
All I really meant by my comment was that it is highly unusual for a 2nd lead to be a villain in this type of drama, so my thoughts never ran too deep during the flashbacks. I really couldn't have predicted how bad his actions or his possible personality disorder.
His 2nd lead status coupled with his cuteness seemed to prohibit him from being such a dark character XD

Everyone will have their own interpretation, and I guess only the writer will know their intention. So far from my pov of Hae Ahn's character of the first 12 ep is not consistent with what we have seen in 13 and 14. Even in just those 2 eps sometimes he looks shocked, anguished, and guilty. At other times he looks cold, calculating, and shows actual pleasure in successfully covering up his crimes. If the "psychopathic grin" is not addressed in the next episode and has no real meaning, then it was only intended to mislead the viewers.
The writer could have kept what we saw in the flashbacks. Hae Ahn's brother being the drunk driver, being torn between saving his brother and the kid, which led to a poor response time that could have saved them both. The connection would still be there as well as guilt, but the tone of the drama wouldn't have changed from a healing, romantic melodrama with a dash of comedy, which was balanced pretty well in the first half. Instead, the twist seems like a cheap trick for shock value (to me)and turned it into a thriller, which this drama never was. That is what some people are unhappy with. The themes of sin, forgiveness, and redemption could have been kept without making Hae Ahn so morally bankrupt.
I can see why some people might find the twist exciting, but I just don't think it fits in with the first 12 episodes. Just my two cents. I mean no disrespect to your pov :)
