I feel the drama has done a good job of showing that they each have things to work through, so it is a shame to see many saying things like Gil Chae doesn't deserve him 😖 I feel terrible for her and the difficult choices she has had to make. I too feel bad for Ryang Eum whose behavior has been wrong but who is also stuck in a hard place. I wish Jang Hyun would try to understand where he is coming from. But yes, this is going to be a wreck until the end 😅 And I cannot complain as I came here willingly!
Even if Gil Chae were not getting married I believe she would have made the same choice to stay behind with her family. And in the end that was the right choice. Jang Hyun has no attachments and can follow the wind. Gil Chae is a woman who has to consider a lot more than him. She was not wrong when she said he is selfish and can do what he pleases. It was actually very selfish for him to expect her to flee with him no matter the consequences for her reputation and family. He thinks just because he loves her he should get her. Well, it does not work like that even though she does love him back. Does he not care that she has a sick father?
She made the right choice. Not only for her family but because Jang Hyun was thinking of his benefit only out of desperation. If they had gone together then it would be a disaster. They need to come back together when he is less demanding and she can trust him entirely.

8 years is way too much right? They probably are going off historical truth a bit for the drama in this regard. I would say 2-3 years. Any more than that I feel they would have had to change the actors looks a little to reflect the passage, and it is hard to believe that Gil Chae would not have been pressured to be married in all that time.

I understand you! For me I don't need to like the characters I only need to care about them and the story. But here I do like them both, I just think they're complicated.
All I see in this episode is Gil Chae being resourceful and brave to protect those around her. That is such a crime to some people deserving of criticism?

Hear hear! Don't be sorry, I agree with you :D Exactly, people hate Gil Chae for every misbehavior but with Jang Hyun all the focus is on his good deeds. It is a disservice to the writing and both characters to think he is perfect and she is not. I love Jang Hyun too and it would be boring if he was the perfect hero everyone thinks he is.
