Also, “love is the most powerful” sure but the pay off wasn’t as strong because I never felt the romantic love between them. Was it love for the world?! Then why the f did they name it Sword and BELOVED. This couple was written all wrong I swear.
Rumu death was SO LAME. They made him look mega dumb. But it still broke my heart because I loved his character 💔
FG turning evil happened too fast. One chess game and BAM. We should have seen him fight like crazy against the evil. At least his sexy look served and so did the fight scenes.
Overall idk how I’m going to rate it. Some things were perfect in this drama, others totally ruined by the script. Its like the production self-sabotaged. Will post my review later.

I’m fine with minimal romance. However what the writers did is introduce and make the romance part of the plot, to then suddenly ignore it, like it doesn’t exist. It just doesn’t make sense. I think Cheng Yi screen time is ok, as the plot still made sense, and the world got expanded by focusing on the secondary characters. Tomorrow the final episodes will drop, which will determine my (and probably others) final thoughts and recommendations.
Ep 31-32 I’m officially disappointed. I said earlier how I didn’t mind many of the things that others were upset about. It’s still true. But now I’m throwing daggers at the writers because why is there NOTHING between FG and QT? It’s like they’ve digressed to being friendly acquaintances. Where is the deep emotional connection? Where is the love?! With 4 episodes left I don’t see what could be salvaged. It’s all empty now.
Oh and I felt nothing much during FG and WHY scene at the Pavilion. You know why? Because WHY in LIP was indeed a hero. I loved him. But WHY in SnB was an abusive father who hated everyone (and don’t pull that shit he hated himself blah blah). In my eyes he didn’t redeem himself. His apology to QT was half ass. I wish the writers had killed him off before the start of SnB and let another character act as a Shifu to FG.
Cheng Yi screen time: The first half of the drama was all about FG which I loved. However it did feel like he was the only character. So I’m happy the writers expanded the world by focusing on the other two couples and Western Region. I’m reading comments how he had 4 min screen time and I honestly didn’t notice because I was focused on the plot. But I feel first half he had all the screen time so it balances it out.
QT and her evil bro. I didn’t mind this story and I didn’t get annoyed by him. But it could have been shorter. What bugs me actually is that QT suddenly felt like a different character. Yes we could say its the seed inside her but its still rather odd.
Main couple romance. The separation was fine. However I expected more communication when they met again. Not QT acting like they are strangers. The romance feels disconnected rn and I hope the writers do the couple justice in the final episodes. However what I don’t expect is passionate kiss and profound declarations of love. That’s not them. FG is reserved. QT is timid. Their love in the first half was the quiet one. It was in the little gestures. Its was unspoken but seen from their actions. I hope the writes don’t disappoint me in the end.
