That Mermaid Story in episodes 5 & 6… WOW! Amazing. In just 2 episodes, I got more emotional depth and appeal than I did after watching 15 episodes of The Double. That’s not easy to do so 👏 to GJM for crafting such a well told story.

If you’re talking about the mydramalist ratings, then don’t pay too much attention. It’s clear that the site has a bias against this director and style of show. There were ‘ratings’ even before the 2nd episode aired. Most of the viewers are honest and won’t rate until more shows have aired. A better metric is the heat index on iQIYI. Even with school being in session, the heat index has not fallen below 8000.

Based on your name, I think you might be from Eastern Europe. I like CDL and Neo Hu’s banter and chemistry. But, I agree with you, that Cheng Xiao is beautiful. I think that she’s one of the few Chinese actresses with genuine international appeal. There’s something about her bone structure that makes her unusual, IMO
The comedy in here is in just the right amounts and places. The cast executed their comedic lines well, and it helps to humanize the characters. It’s literally the same amount of humor as is contained in the most successful Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. I know there are some people who didn’t like the humor in those movies either. However, those people were a small, small minority. I have the feeling that the same is true for FoF.

OMG, the technical merit of Cheng Xiao’s fighting scenes cannot be over praised. The arch in her back on that block. The flexibility of her back leg on that kick. Her ability to maintain a beautiful expression even while performing these tricks herself…AMAZING. IMO, she is the only viable heir to the throne of international Chinese superstar actress that has been vacant since Zhang Ziyi partially retired. Like ZZ, CX has the face of an angel, the body of a swimsuit model, and she can actually perform her own stunts.
