I love Empire of Gold and it is an underrated drama that rarely gets mentioned, so your comment caught me by surprise!…
Right, she was almost perfect, that's why people love to hate her. You're welcome. Do try those dramas as there are some central subjects that are similar to Empire of Gold (power, money, greed).
Ok this is out of context….Did anyone watch THE GOLDEN EMPIRE or THE EMPIRE OF GOLD ??If possible could you…
I love Empire of Gold and it is an underrated drama that rarely gets mentioned, so your comment caught me by surprise! Btw, I was rooting for both leads until the end since the chemistry is just so different -- they love to hate each other, but there's also that underlying and vague compassion/understanding between the two. I do recommend Money Flower and Punch although the female leads are not exactly like Empire of Gold (she's really rare). WWW: Search which Im Soo Jung also starred in has 3 dominant female leads (heck, the male cast do not even count as leads in that drama).
Episode 6 officially sealed my trust in this drama's writing. It's the game changer episode for sure since it cemented the quality of the trajectory. I didn't anticipate that I would like this drama so much. In fact, I didn't even check the promotions nor the plot beforehand. Slice-of-life fans, this is it. If you miss dramas like Be Melodramatic, Age of Youth, and Reply series, this is definitely an end-of-the-year treat.
Give this 3 to 4 episodes and this drama will make you stay if you're on the fence with this one.
My first drama ever, I can't believe it's been 15 years T-T
Me too! Now, I'm an adult, and watching Asian dramas has always been part of my life since then. Can't simply imagine life without dramas when they gave me the dream to be a producer/director and helped me survived the rough days.
If you think about it, Da Li only got hit, cursed, got hit again, got criticized, cried and in the end she is…
Good point at the end. I expected they could put those skills of them into good use as well. It was shown sometimes, but for the majority of the story in the second half, the writer decided to go with the trophes, cliches, or melo.
Btw, I love how we all are analyzing or dissecting the characterization and plot here.

Exactly. This is similar to what I was trying to say. She went through all those rude awakening situations for what? Only to go back to that scumbag? Then where's the character growth? She's just a forever pitiful scorned orphan who can't survive without that manipulative ex-fiancee of hers then. Awesome plot. It's just that it could've been better with all those issues they raised (parent-child relationship, prejudices on orphans, new money vs. old money).
Did you see the scene when she was young, she has issues emotional and physical, I thought on episode 1 she had…
True. I guess I'm just expecting more after seeing how smart she was in the first episode. I tend to assume that high IQ also means strong character when it comes to female leads. I'm just getting tired of the melo. I want to her to kick not just one butt, but all butts lol.
She is academically brilliant and cultured. But nothing prepared her for powerful obsessive men, shady political…
I understand those are hard situations, and I am aware that she is book smart and not street smart. But her solution seems to be just crying instead of trying to find any possible solutions in the recent events at least. What happened to logical rather than emotional thinking? How about get or talk to a lawyer? Just do something other than accepting the help of somebody evil (ex-fiancee). I just expected that she will at least try.
Isn't Da Li supposed to be smart!?!? I feel cheated. Now she's just another damsel in distress! What a waste of a good couple (Moo Hak and Dali). Too bad I fell in love with them both as individuals and as a couple, but this plot is not doing any justice to these interesting characters!
Somebody needed to stop grating the cheese, especially at the beginning of episode 11. That was just too much! Haha I feel the second hand embarrassment through the screen.
My favorite is the "oppai" comment:Girl: You like big boobies, right!??Yamada: Who are they attached to, is more…
I'm a woman, but I found that one hilarious since it was a female character who started that conversation anyway. Plus, I don't see misogynistic about it when it's not exactly oversexualizing women too.
11 minutes into episode 8 and I'm dying here of laughter already!!! That restaurant scene was plain genius! When…

This show is so special. I'm neither married nor divorced. Heck, I don't even have a boyfriend haha. I'm in my mid 20s and not 40s unlike Towako. Basically, we are in completely different walks of life, but this show is just so relatable. How did they do that magic? Well, this is what happens when everything is in harmony: writing, directing, and acting. The production is just so smooth and natural that in my eyes, this is absolute perfection. No buts or ifs. I wouldn't change anything even down to the minor details -- music, supporting characters, and the broken door lol.
Just the fact that I rated this a 10 even when I was only halfway through the series tells a lot. Give this amazing show a chance, folks.
