Loving this drama - i’m in deep trouble now coz i have to wait for 6-7 days for the next ep 😅
IU nailed SHJ’s character. She’s actually hiding her struggles behind her bubbly smile, to ‘survive’. She may have admitted with her laugh, her smile, that she’s thick skin because she’s an illegitimate daughter but her eyes, her subtle expression kinda portrayed the frustration, the sadness and the pain of constantly being reminded, treated as one (the stigma) despite all her achievements. Still, she knows her worth and not afraid to charged forward. So, at least for me, IU nailed her role as SHJ 😁.
I remembered that i liked this drama but can’t recall the ending so i rewatched it - and remembered why. Seems a bit too ‘raw’ as in kind of like they just used the first take regardless of its quality/ impact (or lack of 😉). Maybe its the editing, the sound effect, the music, kind of seems off - just doesn’t hit the mark. Seems like the first half or 3/4 of the overall drama was so good and engaging but then towards the end… even the actors are a bit ‘stiff’ in their acting towards the end. Sigh… (comments & feedback are purely based on personal opinion and preferences 🤭) But still enjoyed it though and wouldn’t mind to rewatched it, at least the first half of it 😁.
3 yrs too late but now i understand why it has good reviews. Never thought that I’d actually watched the whole 56 eps without fast forwarding any scene (the only drama so far 😆). Its a drama where we need to take our time and appreciate each ep. Its only possible because of the story flow, transition, editing and directing were good. Not forgetting the actors - all has successfully brought the characters to live. Not a fan of ZLS actually (hence the 3 yrs delay 🤭) but as ShaoShang, she did a superb acting. So glad she’s ShaoShang.
A bit disappointed… not comparing it to other dramas, just imagining/ comparing it to a good dish recipe 😂. It’s like u had a good recipe (the story- most of it), good ingredients (actors-most of them) but the way the dish was cooked (direction/ editing) somehow, somewhere went wrong and it ended up in a bit of a mess and didn’t taste too good, but you could still eat it though (watch it) 😂. I’ve tried so hard to savour the flavour of the dish (watching without fast fwd) but alas, i couldn’t help it so I simply swallow the dish (i fast fwd few episodes just to see the endings).

One of the best drama I’ve seen. It’s a well balanced drama in terms of the overall perspectives: storyline - love, plot twist, character development. And loved that each FL and ML trust each other : an on point definition of complementing each other, fighting side-by-side.
And the chemistry was there, the way they interacted and respected each other - it defines the deep affection they have for each other without having to ‘shout it out loud’.
All actors played their role nicely. Chemistry between FL and ML were sweet 🥰
But… personal opinion, too many side stories that it felt like watching ‘few different stories’ in one story (drama) 😉. And the flow of the story could’ve been made ‘smoother’ (if u know what i mean 😅) and, the scripts could have been more impactful. But still enjoyed it bcoz of the FL and ML.
This is a drama where you didn’t realize that u’ve watched 2/3 of it in one sitting, after several hours had passed. Thank goodness I started it on a weekend else, I may have to take annual leave (lol) as I just couldn’t wait to know what happens next…
Borrowing a word from few of the comments below - this is a masterpiece. And I actually loved the ending (from a realistic-royalties point of view) that i could even say that it was a happy/ satisfying ending (at least for me 😁). It goes beyond the ‘Happy Ever After’ ending scenes. And the actors - they really immersed themselves as the characters they played. The actors, the storylines, the director, the scriptwriter (all involved) - they all complemented each other that made this a good, solid, beautiful drama.
Fighting (without magic),fighting (with godly magic), malicious character intrigue, transformations to animals,…
@Kamiwern I can’t help but to reply to your post coz somehow - the way u summarise it was kinda funny 😆. And the answer to the question was down only to the last 4 words:
This is a good one but I’ve to admit that i fwd some of it towards the early 4th qtr. The one flaw that i just…
The balance of the FL and ML ‘s strengths and weaknesses are satisfactory imo. The ML may be the one often saving the FL when she’s in trouble (physically) but the FL played her part in saving ML’s soul/ sanity (for lack of a better word 😁). Since they were kids, FL has been ‘accompanying’ him and as a couple, she’s been there for him ‘holding’ his hand, supporting him, assuring him that he is not alone - simply just being there for him. These were often overlooked as its not ‘visible’.
And their love story was nicely done. I’m assuming that the FL was to be portrayed as naive and insecure when it comes to love and she kinda played the part nicely.
This is a good one but I’ve to admit that i fwd some of it towards the early 4th qtr. The one flaw that i just cant’t ‘justify’ was the flow of the revenge/ villain part coz its a bit all over the place 😆.
I’ve a mixed feelings about this one - not that it’s not good coz it is - in its own way. It has a different take of ‘common’ drama plot/ flow/ twist so it’s sth fresh (at least for me 😁). That being said, it’s understandable if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. We kinda have to stick to it till the end to truly understand and appreciate it.
Never thought I’d like this one but i did. Its a well balanced story plot and that makes it interesting. FL and ML has their own strengths and were portrayed equally. The best thing (at least for me) - the way they interacted with each other as a couple were done subtly and sweetly.
Just finished ep 22. It just occurred to me when watching the ‘revelations’ at the bridge. Who has the ‘saddest, painful’ childhood and, and is still in pain…
The one who had to pretend to be someone else since she was young then -all the achievements - got taken away in a blink of an eye and was blinded and fell off the cliff (😆). Never knew the meaning of love from her family, and she had to be strong all alone. And had to continue to deceive the one she respects and love but was not given the chance to explain herself. The guilt she had to bear continues while being close to her love one.
Or the one that has a decent family love/ relationship but was betrayed and had to witness his father’s death. Then witness his mother’s death. Had to endure the betrayal of a friend during his time of needs (the battle) and was lied to by the woman he love.
Personal opinion 😄: HY had it the hardest just because she had to endure being someone else. The ‘discipline’, loneliness that she had to bear all the time, fearing of getting caught.

As Forest Grump’s mama said,
Life was like a chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get
But in this drama, the chocolate was so sweet… ❤️😁
