I feel like this is an examination of a marriage and what is needed in order for it to last, that is if they want…
I think that's exactly what is frustrating. Da Shu has been trying and she keeps pushing him away - OTHER people know she still cares for him, but HE doesn't know. To him, she doesn't want to work it out at all but just be rid of him. They both totally played a part in the breakdown of the marriage.
I feel like this is an examination of a marriage and what is needed in order for it to last, that is if they want…
I agree with all you said, but if they had communicated ANY of this well to each other then it wouldn't have been so frustrating. Although, without that lack of communication we'd have no drama at all! LOL!
The synopsis is quite unhelpful. This is basically a second chance at love type drama as best I can tell. I wish…
The synopsis is TERRIBLE! LOL! I have failed to see any "animalistic traits" and how is Da Shu being "sturdy like a tree" anything 'animalistic'? I've also yet to see them "growing together in love". And what does "Like the show's namesake, animal behavior is quite representative of human nature" supposed to mean? Do the character's names mean an animal name when translated? Because "A Tree in the River" doesn't say anything about animals. So do their names translate to 'giraffe' and 'squirrel' because I don't see how they resemble those animals in any way at all. Someone explain this synopsis! LOL!
Putting spoilers in reviews is against the rules regardless of the whole other issue of reviewing airing dramas (which I don't agree with but apparently they've changed the rules on.)
And this sentence "so there is still a lot of time for things to get better or worse" is exactly why most of us don't agree with having reviews on airing dramas.
Zhi He just doesn't communicate well at all! I guess you could almost say the same for Da Shu, but at this point I feel like if he spoke up for himself that she'd just smash him down. I don't understand her or her motivations at all. She supposedly loves Da Shu, but she gives him ZERO indication that she still has feelings for him. Instead she stomps all over his feelings - crushing him little by little. I don't even like her anymore. She's just angry with him all the time and all he does is try to please her. What does she *want* from him?
To me his smile looks exactly like Ji Chang Wook. And both of them are my fav. And his voice sounds like Park…
OH! I think you nailed it! It's something about the way he speaks and moves his mouth that was triggering my feeling, and when you said JCW, I was like 'BINGO! That's it!" Thank you!! Now I can fully concentrate when I watch Wok of Love instead of racking my brain trying to figure this out. LOL!! :)
As much as I loved this show in the beginning, I'm just going to add a +1 to your review and just say that I agree with just about everything you've said here. I think it would have been a great shorter length drama - like 10 episodes or so. Thanks for saving me the trouble of writing a review, because this one is pretty spot on perfect!
I don't think so. I don't find Rain attractive at all, but this guy is very nice looking. I feel like maybe a cross between Park Seo Joon and someone else?
As much as I want to love this drama, something feels "off" with the directing? I think the writing is great,…
I think I agree with you on this. There's just something a bit...'off', but I can't really put my finger on it yet. I don't dislike the show, but something keeps me from loving it even when there are so many elements in it that I *do* like.
I swear if MH sways her back to him in this last episode just because he told her he liked her at the end of ep 15, I'm going to flip out on this show when I review it. LOL!
Except that Min Ho has been consistent all along. He's always been self-centered. He only treated Bo Young well when he decided HE liked HER. Dr. Ye has been consistent in that he has treated Bo Young with respect and kindness from day one. When Min Ho didn't get what he wanted....he was in character, acting like a spoiled child because he didn't get his way. He blames BO YOUNG for his feelings. She thought that they were friends and treated him as a friend. I don't think the writer decimated him at all. When has Min Ho ever thought about anyone other than his own feelings? He was nice to her for about one episode because he suddenly realized he liked her...and still, it was all about his feelings.
While I can kind of agree that Dr. Ye has been a bit on the bland side, he's still a MUCH better choice for Bo…
I think the reason I say that I can 'kind of agree' about the blandness is only because they didn't devote as much screen-time to showing us his personality outside his relating to BY -he has been very private about himself in front of his co-workers in that he hasn't revealed much about his personal life. He hasn't really had very much back-story (with the exception of the failed workplace romance, and the injury that killed his baseball dreams) while pretty much every other character has had something shown about their private life and motivations. Absolutely he has shown his character through his actions, though, which is why I have been on his side for BY from the get go. But we don't know much else about him, whereas MH has been given all this history on screen, even as far as showing his family life.
Lee Joon Hyuk was *so hilarious* in these last two episodes! I never would have thought he could do comedy so…
Was it when he was being sooooo obvious? LOL! "I carefully controlled my emotions" pfffft! Seriously, how have none of their co-workers caught on yet??
I'm still MH x BY! Yes, he is a brat, but maybe having someone like BY can help him change. Dr. YE is just...bland.…
While I can kind of agree that Dr. Ye has been a bit on the bland side, he's still a MUCH better choice for Bo Young. He has been mature, caring, observant, and responsive. Min Ho has been callous, rude, obnoxious, and selfish. "Ain't nobody got time for that!" As Kiryuu put it - she needs (and deserves) a partner, not a project." Dr. Ye has proven himself to be a man, while Min Ho is still behaving like a child.
They both totally played a part in the breakdown of the marriage.

I tried explaining what was happening to my husband and it just sounded absurd.
