Huh? Gu Yiye is the main lead (or well, at least technically). There’s no reason for us not to learn about his love life as well. Especially when we are already seeing too much of GL and JNZ’s love life. And why is it messed up if GYY actually loves A Xiu? I do want to see more career GYY but I don’t think just because he ends up with someone you didn’t expect him to we shouldn’t be able to see what’s happening in his personal life. He’s a beloved character so anything about his life is interesting to the audience.

It’s actually less than a minute even 😭 Yes, Xiao Zhan spent the most time on set, at least a month more that the other lead if I remember correctly

No, I am sure they will never release extra footage. It would be the same as admitting they butchered it themselves. Who knows maybe some other actors will post about other plot holes 🥴

Lots of scenes were sadly cut from the drama. They would have explained the deep relationship between Gu Yiye, Zhang Fei and his widow much better. But oh well, I’m still enjoying the drama as it is

Some thoughts on episodes 25&25.
My favorite part of episode 24 was when GL explained A Xiu’s letters to Gu Yiye. I still have no idea where Gao Liang got all that love expertise but that scene was really good. Also Gu Yiye is so cute being clueless about how to conquer A Xiu, she makes him nervous, she makes him feel new things and he’s afraid she’ll reject him to his face. I think this is the start of some big feeling for both of them.
Also when JNZ’s father talked about the difference between the two men he was absolutely right , probably for the first time in this drama lol Gu Yiye is a brooding young man with a tortured soul striving for greatness. Man like him are indeed difficult to be with, he and JNZ were not good for each other.
The one scene I absolutely didn’t buy was where Gao Liang beat up Gu Yiye for breaking up with JNZ. He had no reason to do that and the scenes was really unnecessary and was probably only added for dramatics.The way none of the punches looked real or actually painful also didn’t help. Like who watches a military drama to see soldier barely touch each other’s faces while fighting. I don’t understand why they could at least stage the fight better, they did it for other combat scenes quite well.
And the melodramatic sequence by the river was just too cheesy. Who edited that? They really didn’t have to show all those flashbacks, should have just focused on Gu Yiye’s face, that was enough to know how he feels.

Really looking forward to the next episodes to see more of Gu Yiye as the Night Tigers Commander and his relationship with A Xiu. I hope he gets more than one minute of screentime 😑

Maybe we should petition iqiyi to release the full uncut drama how it was supposed to air 😑 The drama team also knows who is the center of the story, they keep releasing clips with Gu Yiye for promo. The problem is they often turned out to be his ONLY scenes in the episodes! GYY is such an interesting and conflicted character, so well acted by Xiao Zhan, I will forever be bitter for how they robbed viewers of his screen time

Ugh it pisses me off so much! They waste so much screentime showing on useless scenes that don’t move the plot and don’t show anything except for the nepotism that runs in the army. But they won’t bother showing us scenes that actually explain main character’s motivation and we are just left wondering … what’s happening with Gu Yiye? Is he married? What’s his relationship with A Xiu now? Why do we only see him for 1 minute out of 45?! The only reason we are even able to emphasize with Gu Yiye is Xiao Zhan’s brilliant acting. We makes us feel for Gu despite all the cuts of his storyline and butchered editing. They really did everything to stop Gu Yiye from shining but they still failed cause Xiao Zhan is just so good and understands his character well

Other reasons aside… Didn’t she do the same thing to Gu Yiye? Only she didn’t even bother to break up with him personally - she did it in a letter and then hung up on him when he called her trying to understand why. She got a taste of her own medicine , so I just can’t bring myself to feel sorry for her

Yeah I don’t think they can actually become close friends. I am getting this vibe from GYY that he simply tolerates GL for now. But who knows, let’s see

Looks like a lot of footage of GYY with A Xiu and the baby was cut. So it may be difficult to connect with the idea of them getting together. I hope they haven’t cut everything and will actually show us their interactions and relationship in the upcoming episodes 😑

It’s not the time skips that are bad I think, it’s the fact that they cut out so many important Gu Yiye bits and interactions that makes it difficult to follow sometimes

Yes, Gu Yiye is an extremely interesting character. I wish they wouldn’t cut so much of his screentime. I feel like it makes his motivation a bit harder to understand.

It’s almost funny, as soon as the girl is out of the way, GYY and GL seem to get along 😂 Maybe we will finally see them develop a friendship , GYY could use a friend

In a way I get you, I also want to see GUY happy and stop sacrificing himself so much for others. Let’s see how the writers develop their relationship, maybe they will manage to make it into their own thing and you won’t feel this way anymore, who knows. But even as it is now, all this just makes GYY’s character all the more conflicted and interesting. Imo this is Xiao Zhan’s best character so far !

I see some fans here got carried away and think that if someone hates the character, it means they hate the actor too. That’s not true. I hope all fans can remain reasonable and remember that it’s a fictional story with fictional characters. It is actually good if a drama can make its viewers feel so strongly about the characters. Let’s all

Gao Liang is not a real person , he’s a fictional character that just happens to be not a very nice person . And yes, Huang Jingyu portrays him very well. No one hates the actor, this is a fictional story with fictional characters. Chill ✌️
And answering your question. Xiao Zhan’s fans have been asking him to play a villain role for the longest time. I think Xiao Zhan would be very fun to watch if he was an antagonist in some story
