Bungee Jumping of their Own, always makes me wonder about love and the idea behind the movie. People were arguing…
I think what bothered me the most was the fact that they chose to commit suicide (instead of say, moving away to a place where nobody knew them, or ending their relationship altogether), since I never buy into the notion of "lovers' suicide is romantic" (a la Romeo & Juliet). If I did, I might be moved, not disappointed, by the ending.
And I got the sense that by committing suicide, it's like they implicitly accepting people's harsh judgment; it's like their saying that yeah, everyone is right and that we shouldn't be together in this life since we're both male so let's just die together and hope we'll be born in the right bodies next time around. But maybe that's just me :)

Yeah, I agree with those people because it seems like the movie is giving a mixed message? I mean, if love is strong enough to transcend time and space, why not gender? And okay, so there's a physical aspect to love, but it's not like it needs to be consummated to make it valid.
But anyway, the fact that the movie has provided us, the viewers, with much food for thought is a good thing, I guess :)
I know only a Japanese movie based on a novel: Snowy Love Fall in Spring (Haru no yuki by Yukio Mishima), but…
Yup, the novel is called "Spring Snow" in English and is a part of Mishima's magnum opus, The Sea of Fertility tetralogy. If you haven't already, do read them if you have the time and inclination, I can't recommend them highly enough.
Thanks for writing the article, ChaNee. The book club is a good idea, too. I'm definitely joining, but since it's not always easy to get my hands on foreign books in my part of the world, I can't guarantee my participation in each and every book-reading session.
Thank you for writing this. I can't help feeling more than a tinge of despair at the dearth of leading roles for older female actors, however. (I mean, Lee Il-hwa playing as Kwon Sang-woo's mother when she's just five years older than him! Really!)
Speaking about Korean actresses over 40 that never cease to amaze, I should mention Go Hyun-jung (of Sandglass and Seon-deok fame) and Jeon Do-yeon (who won Cannes for her role in Secret Sunshine).
Im into IT industry and I love it and that's the only reason why I pick this, but god the acting is awful here…
Well, to be fair, if you don't like lame soundbites and over-the-top expressions, this drama is definitely not for you :). Overacting is a staple of these types of dramas after all . . . .
how was the 3rd episode? I am in a dilemma whether to drop or not.
My suggestion is to watch episode 3 and if you still don't find it appealing, just drop it. There's no accounting for taste after all, and sometimes you need to be in a certain frame of mind to watch a certain drama :)
Recap for ep 3 is up on Dramabeans. About what girlfriday mentioned...I hope the show sticks to its original plan…
Well, we know how Korean TV shows are slaves to ratings and all that, but considering that they simply pared down the camera movement and the confessionals, I'd like to believe that they wouldn't go so far as to change the characterization (or to add yet another nonsensical cliches). Let's just keep our fingers crossed.
Contrary to popular opinion, I watched the first two episodes and I'm enjoying it a lot. <3 I don't like to…
My thoughts exactly! I love the the mockumentary and slice-of-life feel to it, although I can quite understand why some people would think that it's boring.
Well, if you read their explanation on why they opted to make a closed community, you really can't blame them for making that decision. And as kittyflumpin said, sometimes they make open registration for membership.
The first episode is good enough, but the drama has yet to hit its stride. (After all, we've only seen one ex-girlfriend--the main lead--so far.) I'm still undecided myself on whether to continue watching or not. I'd wait until 4 or 5 episodes, if I were you, and then see some reviews to make up my mind about it.
