I see it a bit differently. Given the disaster MR went through (ep 9- 10), being obsessed with revenge makes his character stoic—it'd feel unnatural if he warmed up to Li Si, even with all the help. Same goes for BZC (ep 9-10): questioning Li Si's motives to join the Bureau just shows she’s sharp, and his answers give her every reason to stay guarded. Both character logic actually fits well.

Until She is clear the full identity and what Li Si planning to do, she should stays alert. And for MR, you just have to watch ep 9-10 first.

Honestly, you can’t compare SP budget to TTEOTM or WoF—those were massive, peak-tier S++ investments. AI and short drama in real already stealing massive amounts of long drama audience, Cutting budget for Long Drama is real.
