I doubt he will take it though, bcs he always said, he let his character infects his real self, he learned and grew together with each one of his character, they becomes part of his life journey. So taking this type of character does not align with himself, but I still hope one day he wants to try these extreme characters.

His last drama Whispers of Fate suffers from 2x downrating.
hundreds of accounts dropped its score from 8.3 to 7.9 within an hour, then immediately move to IMDb from 9.3 to 7.6 overnight. It slowly climbed back to 8.3 and 8.6, but in the final week before finale trolls struck again, dragging both MDL and IMDb to 7.9 before slow recovery.
His other drama on Douban was hit too — from 7.9 down to below 6. Both Till the End of the Moon and Whispers of Fate are not the kind of dramas that deserve 5.6–5.7 ratings compared to others with higher rating, both are chosen by C Gov as China TOP overseas IP for 2023-2026 (ttl only 3 dramas for 4 yrs)
Now, my expectation for this drama on Douban is bellow 6 right now mostly ratings are 1.0 — largely body shaming the ML. Same story for more than 5 yrs.

MDL rating: Romance drama high rating, good cp higher rating, tons of kisses the highest rating.
You can basically look around, all drama that requires full attention when watching drama, more complex the drama, no romance, low rating.

But since this year, don't expect Luo yunxi drama to have high rating on MDL starting this year and especially on douban, regardless of good drama or not so good rama.

Rating WoF 1.0 and accusing the creators of “disrespecting viewers” bcs not HE is absurd. There’s no romance tag—so what exactly do they owe anyone? This drama costs at most a few $ watch less than a cup of coffee, some even rely on pirated sites.
Unlike many recent dramas I’ve dropped because nothing comes to 50% of WoF from story, cgi and mostly acting, WoF captivates me with its intricate storytelling, layered foreshadowing, and profound depth. It’s a true classic steeped in Daoist and Buddhist philosophy—though not everyone will grasp its richness.
Yes, it’s polarizing. Fans fixated on CP, romance, or female-centric tropes may not appreciate it. But dragging it down to a 1.0 rating is unjust. WoF deserves recognition as the masterpiece it is—even if not every brain can comprehend it. There is really no need for me to sugarcoat it.

I'm waiting for LYX as villain as he recently said in interviews: Want to try villain character.

My wish list:

- A savy handsome well dress but ruthless drug dealer boss
- A Vampire
- A super intelligent serial killer dressed immaculately.

Only the producer asked scriptwriter to start writing S2 a few days before this aired. It depends on whether Youku satisfied or not with this drama result. Word of mouth is good, but suspense drama unless it is touching a big social issue doesn't explode, let alone one without proper marketing.

Oh, I like the cases, but just feel something is lacking here. I can't feel any character depth in the 3 leads.

After weeks of SLY data collection and compared them to TTOETM (I did an even more detail data collections during TTOETM airing) I finally able to calculate the total views for SLY across the 3 OTT platforms (TV+Web+IPTV). Based on various data and market shares each OTT, my estimate was between 2.6–2.8 billion combined, and CSM has confirmed this. This matches the performance of TTOETM, which also reached 2.8 billion views. I have argued that SLY’s success mirrors that of TTOETM. This proves that even non-romance dramas, when executed well, can achieve the same level of success.

While SLY may not have generated the same hype on MDL, which caters largely to romance drama audiences, its excellent production and its exploration of Buddhism and Daoism classics resonated strongly with Chinese viewers.

Finally, SLY would not have been selected as a China first 2026 CPOP nomination without such substantial and verifiable excellent data.

I’m proud LYX has produced 3 classics through Runyu, Tan Tai Jin and Tang Li Ci.

The producer already asking scriptwriter to start with S2, although I don't know if LYX will still be the ML. But yes, it is refreshing to see him on a non idol non romance modern drama.

On the contrary for me 1 ep a day is good.....I almost feel we need a break between the cases, where half of episode given to look deeper into main character life. This is like roller coaster never ending case.....🤣
