I believe since MM was his breakout role, he'll get bigger roles from now on. Same thing happened with Dylan Wang after LBFAD. Chen Xingxu after TSL, Ryan Ding after TRoTaR etc. He has some good ones coming up, so we'll see what his future is like.

tbh when you love a drama it's hard to move on. Like me I still watch parts of The Blue Whisper and The Starry Love when I feel like it. And I've seen them many times already lol. It will be the same with MM. I do the same with my favorite Thai BL dramas.
I have noticed lately that costume dramas don't really focus on romance that much anymore, unless specified. Xianxia and modern dramas are mostly the ones that focus on romance heavily. The others not as much. Might be better for those who don't want a story of romance but want to watch a good, historical drama.

Might be the ending. Others may not have enjoyed the romance at least how it starts (I didn't mind it that much. but I can see why some did.) and others probably didn't like that the romance is not the main focus.
I wasn't going to watch this, but I think I'll give it a look since the FL is a morally grey character. Don't get much of them in dramas. As for romance if there is I think it will be secondary like in Guardians of The Dafeng and Brocade Odyssey.

I usually don't like amnesia trope unless it's not too draggy and done well. I liked it in MM because the ML becomes this cutie, it doesn't last long, and it leads him to see his feelings for the FL more. I'll see how it's handled here.

How many happy endings does iQIYI usually allow? I've seen people speculating since MM had a happy ending (for the leads) this one might not. Anyhow, I think if the novel has a happy ending, then the drama should too. I didn't watch TTEOTM completely just parts but apparently the novel has a good ending & Youku butchered it. The same with The Starry Love. I hope iQIYI doesn't do that. Allow the HEA.
