Episode 2 - I thought people clasp their hands and bow to each other in greetings rather than shaking hands in historical dramas.

I like the Empress. She's also a pitiful character. I really like it that she works with the ML and FL to overcome their hurdles.

Don't worry. This drama feels like a rom-com throughout, light, funny and comedic, with a very obvious plot. The antagonists are not very intelligent, making the whole drama fun to watch.

Yes, indeed women are being used as pawns in many historical stories. But ironically, despite being pawns, women also garner enormous power behind the scene, eg. Empress Wang, A'Wu, Empress Xie Wan Ru etc.

She will marry the Crown Prince when the Emperor dies, and becomes the famous Wu Empress, Wu Zetian, who is also a de facto emperor. Cheers to women power!

I'm up to Episode 18, not a single second skipped, so I can say these: This series is getting intense and serious; it's so good. Great wuxia, great palace politics, great ML (smart and the best fighter around), great FL (intelligent and courageous), great Wu concubine (intelligent and kind), great antagonists (intelligent, devious, unscrupulous, really really and blatantly bad and annoying). Yes, must watch. Don't be misled by the low ratings on Duboku and Douban, and by the negative reviews here on MDL.

My rating for this drama is higher than You Fei :)

Yes, I agree with you. I don't think she's stupid at all, maybe a little naive sometimes, but she is fast witted and covers herself well when she realizes her mistakes.

They are really hilarious whenever they're together, calling each other names in front of the Emperor like kids. I really love that.

This drama is adapted from a very popular novel. Readers complain that the drama has butchered the novel, making it full of plot holes and stupid.

This is my first time watching Gülnezer Bextiyar. I find her beautiful and her acting pretty good. I like her character too. But according to viewers on Duboku, they dislike Gülnezer Bextiyar (for all kind of reasons). Some also complain about Timmy Xu for overacting. I guess that's why they give low ratings.

Yeah, I still want to strangle her, cut her into hundreds of pieces, have her dismembered by pulling horses, anyway you can think of.

Yes, strongly recommended, but with one caveat - there's a super annoying bitch, right from the start of episode 1.

Yeah, maybe bloated face, but his eyes - they're like, .... scheming with something and widely open (too widely) making him look fierce (and cunning), very unnatural.
