Yes, the actors for both the Zhao Yan and Guo Kai characters are amazingly good.

Getting the hang of the bizarre stuff now, and finding the story rather interesting and the dialogues, er, rather rudimentary but cute. Everyone seems to be pretty simple minded, and Xie Yun is the only crafty one that knows everything and has to explain things to everyone. Luckily Zhou Fei catches pretty fast.

Trust me, it pretty much started at the bottom of the hill. Can only go up from there.
Hohoho! Good one XD

eps 57 Zhao Yan on most part was dictating things on this tour but blew it at the end. There were obvious reasons…
It only seems like Zhao Yan is dictating things. Everything is a scheme by Ying Zheng and Zhao Yan is playing exactly how Ying Zheng wants him to play. Like the 'head' thing. Ying Zheng knows Zhao Yan would ask for Dan's head, and Ying Zheng has it ready should it come down to this. Ying Zheng is a brilliant schemer and strategist. Even Li Si admits that because he can read Ying Zheng's mind.

LOL! I survived And the Winner is Love because I wanted to see how my 2 heroes fight their enemies hand in hand. Of course this was just wishful thinking and there was none. Today, I don't even remember how the drama ended :D

You give me hope... I am gonna watch 9 tonight. :)
Yes, you're so right about the development of the characters, how Zhou Fei learns her new martial art skills from other 'shifu's' (they've taught her but she has not called them shiful, nonetheless they're still her shifuls in a way).

A lot of things have happened in the first 12 episodes.
- she meets Xie Yun
- she meets Wu Chu Chu
- she meets her various 'shifu' and they pass her their crafts and wisdom
- she meets the northern swordsman disguised as a cook
- her father leaves
- she beats her mother in martial art
- she breaks 2 swords/knives
- she loses the granny she's supposed to protect
- she loses all her shixiong's who have left their mountain with her, especially one that loves her dearly
- her cousin Li Sheng has caused a lot of trouble, but meets someone who is going to impart wisdom to him
- there's another story brewing underneath with the royal family
- a plot lurking with the 'di sha'

Yes, so many things have happened and are propelling the story ahead. Don't keep fast forwarding else you'd miss out the important events and not understand the story well.

My only qualm is perhaps with the dialogue of Xie Yun when the words and tone of his voice don't match the situation, making the scenes bizarre. I understand the writer perhaps tries to inject some light and funny moments, but still, can't say I like them. Apart from these, so far, this is still an enjoyable drama.

As a wuxia drama lover, I find this drama though not perfect, but watchable. If you survive watching And the Winner is Love or The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion or Love a Lifetime (though they may not be of the same genre), you'll survive watching this one.

Some viewers criticize the pace being too slow. For me, a lot of things have happened in the first 12 episodes. As with most wuxia dramas, the first 20 or so episodes are normally the discovery phase. Our protagonists begin to discover their goals in life; learn new skills; meet new friends and soulmates etc. At the same time, they have also lost a lot that are important to them.

As for the acting, Zhao Liying is convincing with her styling as a very young girl who is strong and rebellious. Her makeup may look a bit cakey closeup, but she looks fine from afar. She is small but very fast and Zhao Liying delivers. Wang Yibo is perhaps a bit out of his comfort zone but his character as a cocky and flamboyant Xie Yun is rather adorable and Wang Yibo is doing pretty well. He looks very nice in his styling and with a physique that is so good with all his dance moves, his actions are quite natural here. Zhang Hui Wen fits the character of Wu Chu Chu who is very soft and gentle on the outside but strong like steel inside (these are the characters she has been playing) and she's doing pretty well here. Chen Ruo Xuan's Li Sheng is convincing too.

Now my interest is piqued: who are Zhou Fei and Xie Yun? They are not what they seem to be. There is a lot of going ons here. And I'm eager waiting for the next episode to air.

Never expected Yao Gu this brilliant.
Thought he was just a mediocre teacher assigned to Cheng Jiao by Lv Buwei. Turns out that he's cunning and brilliant with tons of courage not fearing death at all. Amazing character!

That's so true. I remember when I first started watching The Untamed, I was so thrown off by, almost everything. And yet, it became one of my most favorite dramas of all time.

Yeah, I'm afraid. Too many factions here.
Yes, I've watched The Wolf - first thing when they released it. Love the drama despite some pretty vicious attack on the Bo Wang character by some viewers. I had fun on the page (The Wolf) trying to defend my hero and was called a trash for indulging in Darren Wang. Well, watching drama is fun. Talking to viewers is even funnier :)

Yeah, I'm afraid. Too many factions here.
Yes indeed, the Zhou Fei character is supposed to be a very young girl like 16 or so, and rebellious. But at the same time she's mature. I can't judge if ZLY is portraying the character correctly or not because I've not read the novel. But from what I've seen so far, I feel Zhou Fei is pretty mature despite of her age, so I feel ZLY's portrayal could be accurate. ZLY is petite and with her styling, she does look like a very young girl. Just that they have to put so much foundation on her face that she looks cakey and uncomfortable to look at.
