The Purportedly Rape SceneMany viewers begin to condemn and hate the Bo Wang (Prince of Bo) character when they…
Sometimes, I just sigh. Sure, on the surface, she seems to be violated without her consent. But don't forget, she dances for him because she wants to please him. How do you please a man? I know many of you are probably minors and I don't want to be too explicit. That's why he's asking her, if she wants to please him this way (the alleged scene). She doesn't seem at all traumatized in the following episodes. That tells a lot. She knows he wasn't going to do it but just to frighten her. Would anyone still treat the man like the way she does if you feel he has violated you? What she has witnessed with deaths of her family, to her, this is just part of life for a woman in those times.
Guess I was assuming they are Xiao Zhan's fans because of the way they are protecting a manipulative character and condemn the other when they see manipulation from the other character. So there's a bit of double standard here, making me think they are fans. Nonetheless, whatever they do is none of my concern :)
He also contributes to Ma Zhaixing's final death, ironic, talking about how much he loves her :(
Well, she literally gets slain by Chu Yougui who Bo Wang would have caught red-handed for treason had it not been Ji Chong's interference. So Ji Chong is literally responsible for the death of the girl he loves, don't you agree?
Fans can be super scary. When they sniff any offense on their idols, or even on the characters they play, they (the fans) pounce. I remember on The Untamed page, we almost had a WWIII. There's always this herd mentality.
Am I correct to recall that this was still before he figured out that she did not frame him?
I can tell you're not watching every single minute of the episodes like I do XD. He's cold to her again after the dance for various reasons: 1. He doesn't want her to dance for the sake of pleasing him, ie. intimate with him. He doesn't want intimacy with no love from her. 2. At the same time, he doesn't want her to fall in love with him either, for obvious reason. So you can see his turmoil here. He wants her but he knows he can't because of what has happened. Here, again there's a split between the viewers. Some say, since he didn't kill the family, he should just admit to her and she may forgive him. But to him, he is the leader of the Night Fury. Saying he didn't do it means shunning his responsibility which is not his character. Taking the responsibility means he cannot tell her the truth, at least not yet because he doesn't want her to go against him when she is so vulnerable and will definitely perish if the Emperor wants to kill her. So he resorts to the anger tactic to motivate her to stand up for herself and become strong.
I tell you, for this drama, you really need to sit down with no distraction and watch everything. Then you will come to realize what he is doing, and why he's doing it. :)))

That's my confusion with what you're saying. On one hand, you say Ji Chong "was literally the only reason why Zhai Xing found happiness at the end of the drama." But on the other you're saying, ".... he knew she would only be happy with him (I assume you mean Bo Wnag)." So which is which? Is she happy with Ji Chong or with Bo Wang?
Am I correct to recall that this was still before he figured out that she did not frame him?
He found out that she didn't frame him in episode 8, and knew she has leg injuries. Wen Yan has told them that she must be careful if she wants complete recovery and should not exert her legs. That's why when she dances, he's paying full attention to her legs. He sees her legs wobble. His eye brows lock (heart aches). He tells her he doesn't need any women to please him like this, if he does, he can easily find some girls out there. Therefore, unspoken, he says, he wants her to love him, not just to please him out of duty.

Happiness with Ji Chong for Zhaixing? Then she wouldn't have left him and willingly go back to be humiliated by that 'monster' of yours. I'm so confused with how you come to such a conclusion.
Guess we're mixing up social norm with morality here. Don't think we're getting anywhere. So let's drop this. You think whatever you want to think and hate this drama for all you want; I'll go my way and enjoy my drama with friends who concur with me. Chow!
Of course it's not ok to sexually assault anyone, but he wasn't sexually assaulting her at all. Don't forget it's not even a crime in those days even if he does assault her because she belongs to him; she is considered his properties, like it or not. He can do anything he wants with her, but he doesn't take advantage of that.
I know you said he can use other ways like hurting her with another woman. Sure he could have but her objective is to please him, so he could have multiple wives (don't forget he's a prince and normally they have multiple wives) and she still has to be married to him and please him. And that's exactly the reason he doesn't want her to please him like this. He wants her to truly love him to have the intimacy with him, not like this which he can simply find a prostitute to fulfil as shown in the episode. In other words, what you're seeing is just a show he puts up to deter her.
It's hard to explain when you're all angry. Calm down.
I'm not defending anyone here, definitely not Wang Dalu. I didn't even know him before this drama. I thought I didn't like the actor very much (I called him ugly in my initial review) until I finished the story and re-watched. Then I understand the hidden messages and nuances, and how the actor has performed based on what the Bo Wang character is supposed to be.
Calling someone garbage based on something you see which may be misinterpreted is unfair, and you are better than that.
I'm sorry but after all humiliation he has done to her, I don't wanna see Lord Bo having any happiness with MZX.…
Wow, wow, wow! We're definitely getting too heated up here. Take a deep breath, people.
Things are not what you're thinking here. You're only looking at it superficially: you see the actions, you jump into conclusion. You haven't seen the broader picture.
This is how I see one of the scenes in episode 15:
Don't forget Bo Wang is not a sweet talker; everything he does is by brute force. In those days, women have no status. They belong to the men. The men can do anything they please because the women are the men's properties. Ma Zhaixing is given to Bo Wang and it's up to him what he wants to do with her; therefore his action would not have considered rape had he really done it. But he doesn't want a relationship that his woman just lives to please him. And what Ma Zhaixing has been doing thus far is just that: please him even though she is unwilling deep down.
I spotted an inconsistency: Episode 25. When Shi Guang, Hong He and Yue Zhi were holding up their giant boards of prize money on the academy front steps, Yue Zhi dropped his board which said first prize, and left, and when Hong He picked it up again, it magically changed to second prize. Duh!
