Cheng Yi is beautiful in The Promise of Chang'an but the drama is indeed very painful to watch unless you don't mind all the angst.

Oh boy, this is so addictive!
There's a lot of interrelationship. So far so good. I'm catching who is related to whom even without the character map(s). Intriguing characters, especially the 3 male leads - Xu Jin, Xu Ping and Wu Baiqi. Have loved those young actors from previous dramas, all so good looking. Glad to see them collaborating in this one.

Yes, it's kind of warm up and cool down thing. With Li Zhao and Du Xiao Xian coming in between, there's a lot of jealousy and meddling, but fun to watch. By episode 18, they still have not declared their admiration for each other. Which episode are you on now?

Yes, she's smart and proactive. That's what I love about her. She doesn't wait for things to happen to her. She goes out and takes control of it. And the sweet thing is, she always has her general behind her back protecting her.

IKR! She doesn't sit around to wait for things to happen. She sees something, in her mind, bad, about to happen, she would try to change the direction. She is not the type that is so naive to think nothing bad would ever happen to her relationship with her husband. I feel the author is setting up for something to happen soon so that her strong character then becomes a plus to save her relationship.
