That's so true about a drama clicking with the viewers. I had a hard time watching passed episode 2. But now, it's moving. I'm beginning to like it a lot. So maybe you want to give it a second chance :)

Yes, up until now at episode 12, it's just sorrow after sorrow. This drama is tormenting to watch but Cheng Yi's acting is first class.

If it's true, that's so sad. However, I'm still very optimistic because he's the ML and should be immortal :)

It's getting very interesting. Still hilarious, but a lot of serious stuff and starting to move rather quickly now.

Dang! I thought this is a light watch. It's still rather funny and silly with the 3 brothers, but it's moving into a different territory. It's getting heavier, more intriguing, and good. I'm enjoying it.

This drama and L&R are two totally different genres. L&R can have anything as far as imagination can take, but The Promise of Chang'an is limited to real life. Therefore, story wise, I'm not surprised different viewers have different preferences. For me, I love anything Chinese including this drama :)

It didn't explain why (don't remember seeing/hearing it) the younger brother the Emperor but normally who becomes the emperor depends who bore him. If he's a child of the Empress, then he'd be the Emperor even if he's younger.

Oh boy! I'm already half drained at episode 12, 44 more episodes to go. I think I would become a zombie by the end of the series if the torments continue.

His crying really rips the viewers' hearts out. Brilliant acting!

Episodes 4-12 - Torments, torments more torments. A bunch of tears. Very sorrowful.

I mean the son may not be hers. Remember her sister is also having a child. We don't know at this point if it's a boy or a girl. I don't think she would ever let him touch her. So far, I believe they still haven't consummated. There's no tragedy tag here. Therefore, our boy still stands a chance.

Episode 10 is hard to watch. It feels like L&R all over again, this time in the real world T_T These writers are really sadistic, causing all the angst for the viewers :(

What if she hasn't bore that child? I can't see how she can give herself to that man and bear him a child, knowing what he's done to Xiao Chengxu, her love. Furthermore, it's not like Xiao Chengrui has no son; he has already a son as old as Xiao Chengxu, and can be an heir.
