I'm glad I had unknowingly started with the director's cut version because apparently this version helped more…
You've summarized it up so well here.
You're lucky to have watched the director's cut version instead of the other which was aired. I watched this series while it was airing and I just couldn't empathize with Li Chengyin at that time, like so many other viewers. I wish they had released this version instead.
Yes, the ending is so appropriate and moving. A great watch!
Great start after 8 episodes. Plot is well written. The sensible pace to the ML and FL development is refreshing…
I love this drama for similar reasons as yours - no air head girls chasing after men after conveniently fallen into their laps.
Admittedly there are some plot holes here and there, and in later episodes you'd come across. Comparatively, this is still a better watch than what is out there at the moment :)
this drama is really good. i can't stop crying every episode. omg my poor eyes :'( just finish watching ep 17,…
Huh? You cried? For me, it scared the shit out of me in the first few episodes. I'm such a scaredy-cat. Despite some plot holes here and there, this is indeed a wonderful drama. I love it :)
LOL - I am not a fan of the fan either... It is just so signature Ouyang Feng I just never want the MLs to use…
It was the white robe and the fan that attracted me in the first place. I don't even remember who all these characters (Ouyang Feng etc) are anymore, but Tou's initial appearance did conjure up images of some of my favorite characters. The Tou character development is such a mess that I didn't enjoy his character very much by the middle of the drama.
Yeah, a hedgehog and a run-away groom. Sigh!BTW, did you cry in any of the scenes? I know they're supposed to…
I'm a cry baby too, but I find they (the director etc) have reduced the sadness for me when they injected too many of the repeated dialogues which dampened the pain. It makes the viewers want to fast forward hence not experiencing the effect. Though I didn't fast forward for any of the scenes, I just kept saying, come on, let's move it, or even urging the about-to-die to be dead.

Even at dying, Mu Yuan manages to give a long speech. I was rather amused at that because while his life seems to be slipping away, he comes back and talks (a lot), then his eyes close, he continues to talk, and talk some more. I was like, come on, die, though losing Mu Yuan is one of the anti climax scenes for me.
BTW, did you cry in any of the scenes? I know they're supposed to be sad which would have normally drawn rivers of tears from me, but this time, I just rolled my eyes, not that I have a heart of coal (XD), I just saw through the director's intention and didn't feel any sadness at all.

IKR? It's been almost 1 year for me and many fans here (we watched it while airing so we got to discuss the drama a lot, you can't imagine the fun we had) and we still check on The Untamed page every day, and try to comfort new fans.
Also search for the behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube. These videos really reinforce everything you see about the couple onscreen and also help to fill the void. Watch the concert videos if you haven't seen them.
They also have a manhua (manga). If you check on the original page (The Untamed) at the "Recent Discussions" section, there are links to the manhua and other various interesting videos and links. That's how many of us passed our days until we finally walked out of this rabbit hole :)
