A very interesting perspective from a totally different angle. Normally, viewers' crushes are on Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Your view is absolutely refreshing to read. Thank you for bringing us a different way of viewing this drama. Yes, I also love the line you mention here, "人生得一知己; 足矣." It means a lot to me too.

What a beautiful write-up encapsulating everything in the drama. Yes, this is a wonderful drama that has captured my heart for the last 2 months. The laughter and pain one experiences while watching it, is unprecedented. Life basically stands still for me, and I cannot pick up another drama to watch with real enthusiasm. If you haven't, maybe you should start watching the anime. I normally don't watch animations but this one is just fantastic.

That's why our hearts ache for both - Wei Ying for obvious reason, and Lan Zhan for his love and devotion for Wei Ying that is not being returned, at least until pretty late (because Wei Ying is kind of a, .... er... knucklehead). Fans, don't bash me! XD

I love your review and I share your points. When I first started, and saw the 3 Su kids, that was the first question I asked - it's not possible in that era to have 3 kids and not being punished or forced abortion. Both Su sons' wives are single children in their families. I feel the same way as you do in terms of the message - "family is everything and no matter what, you should always forgive family". I cannot accept such message too.

I have not read the novel. Can you kindly enlighten me how the story ends in the novel? Thanks.

Yeah, the first time when Wei Ying saves the Wen's remnants and asks Lan Zhan to let them go. Lan Zhan does and cries because he knows he may not see him (Wei Ying) again and Wei Ying would be outcast. But it is raining cats and dogs and dark that night. Only we, the audience, see Lan Zhan's tears, Wei Ying has left with the Wens and never sees the tears.

The second time is the most heart wrenching scene when Wei Ying is out cold in Lan Zhan's arms, and Lan Zhan finds out about Wei Ying giving his own golden core to Jiang Chen. Lan Zhan cries. That scene is by far the most loved scene from most of the viewers.

Yes, I'm obsessed with the novel too. I read it on my cell phone whenever I'm in a car ride. I've never used to enjoy car rides this much; I don't even care about traffic congestion anymore because I'm enjoying my time with the novel. That's how magical this whole thing is!

"Talking about Lan Zhan's expression of trying to suppress an emotion that is overflowing, I only recently found out about the song that Lan Zhan plays for Wei Ying for healing, the hidden message in that song (original song - 'You still don't understand my heart') is so fitting. Some lines in the original song include, "I'm scared I cannot handle my deep love for you, so I don't dare to go near you; You said you want to go away, my heart hurts secretly, but I won't let you see the tears in my eyes." These are the emotions Wang Yibo has to express on his face without words and he nails it! Bravo!"

Among many other flaws, I just spotted a zombie wearing jeans. Still unwavering love for this drama. There, critics, what do you make of that? Call us crazies, I don't mind (speaking for myself) XD.

I have given up so many other dramas; not even watching my favorite actors Deng Lun, Ma Tian Yu, Yang Zi and so on. I'm just stuck here with Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo.

Absolutely! This drama is like a treasure hunt; it leaves hints here and there. Only a discerning audience can pick up those clues and hidden messages, and that's why it's so appealing.

Now I understand how hard it must have been for Wang Yibo to act that character; he needs to think about all the pend up emotions in Lan Zhan to display them (the emotions) on his face without overdoing it. No wonder behind the scenes, you see Wang Yibo constantly suppressing his own smiles or cheekiness, especially when he's with Xiao Zhan.

Who wants to get over it? Ha! I don't. XD.
