Talking about Lan Zhan's expression of trying to suppress an emotion that is overflowing, I only recently found out about the song that Lan Zhan plays for Wei Ying for healing, the hidden message in that song (original song - 'You still don't understand my heart') is so fitting. Some lines in the original song include, "I'm scared I cannot handle my deep love for you, so I don't dare to go near you; You said you want to go away, my heart hurts secretly, but I won't let you see the tears in my eyes." These are the emotions Wang Yibo has to express on his face without words and he nails it! Bravo!

I love Hu Ge. He's a deep and an amazing person. It is not easy to find a person this day to have a philosophy that Hu Ge has, and live it. NIF is my most favorite of his dramas and it is still at the top of my all-time favorite list. Hu Ge is so smart to be selective in choosing his scripts and not simply accepting anything that comes his way. A great role propels an actor to greater height and a poor role pulls him down from all his hard work.

And Lan Zhan has been playing this song to Wei Ying when he is unconscious, over and over again. Imagine how frustrated he must have felt when Wei Ying simply walks off like that.

OMG! The lyrics of this song are so fitting: "You said you want to go away, my heart hurts secretly; But I won't let you see the tears in my eyes." This is how Lan Zhan has been feeling and trying to tell that "numb head" of Wei Ying. Everything is falling into place now.

OMG! That bitten lip! I would never have noticed if not for this careful analysis in the video. This is so satisfying! On the other hand, if my lip is bitten like that, I would have wanted to bite back XD XD XD.

Indeed, I'd be so interested to find out how NHS manages to hook up with Mo Xuan Yu to sacrifice himself to bring back Wei Ying. How he has all this power and insight to mastermind the whole thing. Even Lan Zhan couldn't find Wei Ying's soul, how did NHS do it. I still have so many unanswered questions.

That's the thing with this drama. Everything is done so subtly that it really feels like simple and straight friendship in my initial viewing with my very ignorant brain. Only repeated viewing helps me look deeper and understand those feelings.

Or perhaps, I didn't want to accept it initially because this is my first bromance and I didn't know what to expect. So I thought without kissing or bed scenes would mean "straight".

There are indeed many clues like what you're saying here, how they're touching each other, how those longing gazes for each other. Even at the very beginning in Gusu, whenever Wei Ying wants to round his shoulder on another guy, he would throw Lan Zhan a glance, as if to see his reaction or something. One doesn't do this (to see the reaction of the other) if there is nothing between them. And many times, when Lan Xi Chen mentions Wei Ying to Lan Zhan, the latter holds his sword tightly. Many viewers say Lan Zhan is angry at the mention of Wei Ying because he doesn't like him in the beginning, but I interpret it as Lan Xi Chen hits Lan Zhan's soft spot precisely because he likes him.

I think you're going to love this drama. This is my first bromance drama and I love it. In a way, I envy you because you're only beginning to watch this drama. For us here, we have finished viewing more than 1 month ago, and we cannot move on to other dramas. I hope you don't fall into the rabbit hole like we do :)

That was the scene, the betrayal of Xiao Feng's cousin and Adu's brother, that makes it so hard to swallow Li Cheng Yin's character. He was never remorseful after the massacre. I had a hard time coming around to forgive him. During my re-watch, I always skip that episode. It's just too painful to watch.

I know. Just that, when you're a crazy fan, you don't think clearly; you'd just feel you don't have enough of them. But thinking clearly and strategically, yes, a sequel may spoil everything, just like many other sequels.
