Love your explanation. You're so knowledgeable in this. To be honest, I'm only aware of xianxia recently after…
I'm saying "xian" as in fairy, a mythical being kind of stuff. As in this drama, the actors are kind of flying and floating with their hair and cloths flying. I don't know about others, but for me, it's heavenly. I love the visual, especially for Lan Zhan, because he is usually in white and he is a very beautiful person, almost unreal.
Recently in the USA, a teenager killed himself because he was exposed for being gay. I cannot imagine if Lan Zhan kills himself for loving Wei Ying; we won't allow it. My heart aches for that boy. Let's hope our society be more inclusive and treat everyone equal with no biases.
Love your explanation. You're so knowledgeable in this. To be honest, I'm only aware of xianxia recently after watching Eternal Life - Peach Blossom. I haven't even watched any xuanhuan dramas. Can you please give me some examples? I've known wuxia all my life because I loved reading wuxia novels when I was in school, especially right before exams. XD.
For me, the flying / floating elements of this drama is so appealing because they are so beautiful. I simply love the visual of Wei Ying and Lan Zhan flying in mid air and landing gracefully. As the directors also explained, there are not so much martial arts in the drama; they focused more on the visual aspect of the actors by creating a "xian" like feeling (if you know what I mean by "xian").
It's nice that you articulated the same things I felt about the show. I don't understand how people overrate some…
Yep! I love those 'flying people'. I love how they look in mid air, hair and cloths flowing, with or without weapons in hand, and how they land eventually. It's simply beautiful and super hard to do. It demands a lot of strength and control. And yet these actors can do the acts so gracefully, and seemingly effortlessly.
What a ride! I miss it already (and I finished the drama like 32 seconds ago), such a bittersweet feeling. I loved…
We welcome you to our world of after "The Untamed". Many of us have completed this drama for more than 1 month. And yet, we're still here, sharing our hearts out, unable to move on to other dramas. Life stands still.
Yes, the directors are brilliant in their selection, especially for the 2 male leads. Xiao Zhan is still Wei Ying and Wang Yibo is still Lan Zhan even off screen; they both look and feel exactly the same as they are on screen. I guess that's why we're so obsessed with them. Even after the drama, when they go about with their normal life, we see an extension of The Untamed; we continue to see Wei Ying and Lan Zhan in them.
It is also the reason why when someone comes and criticizes this drama, even objectively, we have the tendency to become very defensive, because we are very involved in it emotionally. The criticisms feel like personal attacks.
"Never an episode struck me as much as episode 46, that was almost too hard to watch" - Despite the umpteenth time watching this episode, I still cry. My heart aches like hell. I don't remember any other dramas that make me feel this way, not Nirvana in Fire, not Eternal Love - Peach Blossom. The song, Yi Nan Ping, is another thing that stirs me up emotionally. One can apply this song in any part of one's life, it still touches one's heart so deeply.
The beautiful music and visuals of Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are enough to provide me energy to live for another day, feeling fulfilled.
