When I am watching this again, I find something to question. In episode 36 when WWX returns with drunk LZ, he…
You and Denalie10 are right - there's a lot of confusion in the story itself. The story is changed to adapt for the drama and yet the holes are not being filled properly. I've re-watched several times, trying to make sense of certain parts, and I've come to a realization - don't try to make sense, just accept it as it is. If you do, you may discredit the drama like some viewers do. Just continue to love the characters, the music, the relationships and the beautiful visuals. These alone are enough for me to go on for a long time. :)
There's nothing 'gay' about this drama but definitely there's unspoken ROMANTIC feelings between the two, not…
You know what? Actually you're so right. I re-watch the drama 2 more times, read the novel, and watch the anime, yes, I can feel the romance now. Though subtle, Lan Zhan seems to be the one who seeks out for Wei Ying. And for Wei Ying, he is open about it but doesn't want to impose on Lan Zhan. I seem to enjoy BL/bromance now, more than a hetero relationship.
Wang yi bo and Xiao zhan together get their own very popular female actress as their co-star in romance drama…
Man! I just can't handle the visual of them with other females. I still want to see them in their long hair, historical costumes, staying together forever. :(
I cried soooo much..I could probably fill up a room like Alice in Wonderland. Lmao.
Until today, watching the 3rd time, I still cry. I also cry watching the anime. ???? Especially times when Wei Ying thinks of his shijie with the Yi Nan Ping music playing. I just can't help myself.
Comparing the two actresses, Tiffany is obviously more famous than Peng Xiao Ran who is a newbie. But I'm very impressed with Peng's acting; she is beautiful and natural. So in her acting, she feels authentic to me. Tiffany gives me the feelings of maturity and sophistication, and I love her in PWY. Of course, I'm not an expert in looking at people and I don't know these actresses that well. So I can only express how I feel about them in their respective dramas. I see you're a fan of Tang Yan. She is one of my favorite actresses too. What type of dramas do you prefer? Welcome to kisskh.
I'm watching episode 24 now for the first time ever watching anything related to this story. Did Wei Wuxian give…
Actually Jiang Chen is quite pitiful. From young, he is being trained to carry the burden of his sect after his father. There are things he can and cannot do. He has to follow the rules that are set out by all the other sects. Whereas for Wei Ying, he is free like a bird. He can do whatever he likes without bearing any 'real' responsibility. He has no one to answer to, except to himself. That's why Jiang Chen loves and envies him at the same time.
For Meng Yao, like you, I disliked him in my first viewing. I found him creepy, especially with his large dimples and large eyes. However, after 2nd and 3rd viewings later, I began to feel sorry for him. All he has wanted was not to be despised by others. He tries very hard to please. He becomes the best event organizer around. He just wants to be recognized as worthy. It's just sad that the most valued recognition from his own father is not given to him and hence his bitterness. This drama also misses out some information that makes him what he is.
I couldn't understand the first two episodes myself too, until I re-watched them after I watched the whole thing. Each re-watch, I find myself picking up things that I missed in my initial viewings. Like you, I'm a romance buff too, and I had never thought I'd fall in love with a BL or bromance type of drama. Anyway, if you don't enjoy this one, don't torture yourself. There are plenty dramas out there. Let me know if you find one with good romance.
Poor acting, poor story, don’t understand why people rate it highly.
I can understand why you're saying this. When I first came to this drama, that's exactly how I felt. This is a low budget production. I disliked, among others, the acting of those zombies, so fake. The story is confusing, and at some points, even illogical. But the funny thing is, I was totally drawn to it helplessly, like many others. I attribute this draw to the two main characters, their relationship with each other and with others, the beautiful OSTs, and especially the aesthetic visual effects of the two main characters. I have never thought I'd love a BL or bromance like this, but I do with this drama; it is so beautiful. For each episode, I found myself laughing and at the same time crying; I felt happiness and sadness. I even have the fantasy of meeting the 2 fictional characters in my life one day because they are so lovable! I hope you find my explanation plausible and hope you would take the chance in viewing some of the episodes some day.
@ChineseDramaFan: Agree on the " feelings". But I think it is a casting or script issue (instead of age difference…
In this drama, yes, the wife is supposed to be older than the husband. I have no issue with that - the producers need to find an older actress to play that role. My problem is with Liu Tao herself. I find her not convincing in that role as a silly, funny, happy-go-lucky girl. Her look, her demeanor, everything, just doesn't feel right. She has a very piercing look that makes her great for the role of an empress or sort, not as an innocent shallow girl that tries to act silly. I've watched a few episodes. Just can't continue anymore. Maybe Wang Ke Ke changes in the later episodes and Liu Tao fits into the role perfectly. I'm putting this drama on hold for now. Share with me if you will, what you think of this drama, and if I should pick it up again.
Ahah omg you're so right ! XD Actually that's what I like in a lot of BLs, they don't go for the "you're a man…
Both you and @Emily say it so beautifully. You are so right - there's no right or wrong to be a homo or bi sexual. Whatever sexuality one has, it is of no other people's business. Therefore, one should not discriminate against anybody for any reasons. The over-religiously-zealous people scare me more than those zombies in the drama XD.
In my next life, if I were blessed enough to meet a relationship like what Wei Ying and Lan Zhan share, I want to be a gay! No, I'm not losing my mind. I'm dead serious!
I'm watching episode 24 now for the first time ever watching anything related to this story. Did Wei Wuxian give…
Right! In fact, he's a sweet soul. Just that he doesn't know how to express himself properly to be likeable. Only Wei Ying and his own sister understand him, and accept him as he is.
Is there much wire-fu in this series? I seriously hope not.
Certainly. As this drama is a fantasy, everything is about xian and spirit (ghost), evil, gods, the sort. So the actors have to fly around and land on roof tops, etc. But the wire-fu is so beautifully done. The actors are so beautiful and god-like; they give the best visual effect that I've ever come across in any dramas. Their hair and clothing floating in the air, while they are fighting or playing an instrument. It's just so beautiful. You'd have to watch it yourself to appreciate it.
