Exactly my criticisms too. Lazy writing. Killing them off is easier to write because the writer doesn't need to think about them anymore in the conclusion, just like most other C historical dramas.

For me, I can accept everything you say here. I just don't like how this drama is like other dramas that "Everybody dies. THE END!" - this type of ending. It's so lazy.

The "10 years" you saw doesn't mean 10 years per se. She was saying figuratively her draft is like a sword that takes 10 years to sharpen, meaning her work is the best work. I believe they are separated for quite a long time because LY seems to have published many books already and has been rather popular until recently when it's rumored that the author (LY) was used to be a disgraced government official.

Yes, Consort is 40 years old, it was revealed when LY tried to connect and see if she was the sold little Bei Liang girl. So the Crown Prince must be an adult already because LY also said the Crown Prince makes a great emperor because of his foresights.

Beginning is quite good, then it loses appeal for me, then ending is like most other C historical dramas, many people die.

She's killed by some Bei Liang assassins who are trying to kill LY. She drugs LY and disguises as QY, and dies for them.

You'll see YL's true self by episode 32, even LY acknowledges YL's straight character. :)

Yes and no. SML love FL, but FL loves ML. Another woman loves ML but ML loves FL. :D

YL can't fight, I'm surprised too. But I remember he does fight LY in previous episodes and he is very good, or have I remembered wrong? :D Yes I like them working together, brainstorming. I just don't like QM gets herself involved too. Why let her listening in all the secret plans? Just kick her out; she's good for nothing except spoiling everything for her selfish needs.

If that other lady you mean Xiao Xiao, no, he doesn't marry her; she dies :(

- There's a conspiracy from Bei Liang

- QY kills YL's assistant
- XX dies trying to save LY
- YL works with LY to find the spy
- QM is still as an annoying b****

IKR! Such a waste of such a wonderful character - Elm head :(

Throughout the episodes, I haven't seen any admiration of XX from YL, so I assume love of her is not the case. I think YL is basically a decent person, so he feels sorry to cause the death of XX.

The characters are historical figures, but the love story and some of the palace events are fictional. This drama is more like a royal harem cat fights with impunity. Yawn....

In real life, at least 10 concubines died for him after he died, as that was the tradition. Dammit! Now I have a shadow over the Zhu Zhanji character! :/

People rating it low not totally because of poor subs. The plot itself is pretty bad too, despite the costumes and acting are decent :)

IKR. I was searching and hoping I was missing something. Nope! Everything is out. Dang! They spoil the whole drama. Why do C dramas always have stupid endings like this? Even if they are going to have season 2, at least give season 1 an appropriate ending point :/
