i guess Lusi's fans alone can carry a drama cause TLI is still reaching record heights. the show's success proves…
Again I really don't want to reply to you at all but I already said it just means MangoTV couldn't find a suitable actor to replace Dylan and wouldn't have let him back out by mutual agreement since it affects the filming process if they delay? If both sides agree that he is unsuited and someone else is available i.e. Jing Boran and the producers of TLI, it's possible to not film and get someone else. In a lot of dramas actors are switched out on set or last minute due to disputes (e.g. over the role or script, or acting is unsuitable) or even scandals.

Your worldview is too narrow if you think contracts can't be bended or broken.

I know about YAMG but isn't it the only example because it's 2 liuliangs and the script is "equal" i.e. neither ML or FL biased? Lusi is doing 大女主剧 or FL biased shows. For instance even a liuliang YangMi recently did a drama with Qin Hao and took 2nd billing because her drama ratings are only so-so over the last few years and he's a recognised top actor even if he has 0 fanbase. It's all relative, whoever is more popular or has more awards will be 1st billed in that point in time. Being "popular" only matters in idol dramas i.e. until you are about 35yo because most fanbases thin out after that, after that what matters is acting skills, Best Actor/Actress awards, film achievements.

Lol he agreed to Only For Love before LBFAD aired and wanted equal billing after LBFAD's success, then tried hard to back out aka "run away" from the drama because Bailu's boss Yuzheng was making rude posts at Dylan and his manager on Weibo https://dramapanda.com/2022/12/yu-zheng-says-his-top-billing-post-wasnt-directed-at-dylan-wang-who-happens-to-be-bai-lus-co-star-in-only-for-love.html everyone was telling Dylan to back out because of Yuzheng's behavior but eventually he did it because backing out wasn't an option (unless they can find someone else suitable like Wang Anyu in this drama, the producer will lose money and impose a penalty on Dylan) and Only For Love was meh. Most of these dramas where there is "drama" over actors being reluctant to film aren't really good productions, the actors know themselves if the script/director is good.

LFBAD got bigger ratings than LLTG on Yunhe and Dylan has a large and vicious fanbase like Lusi so they aren't going to collaborate on a drama anytime soon or there'll be fights, even his new drama's trailer is all about him and very male-centric

I work in law and you can dissolve a contract by mutual agreement if both parties are willing. I wasn't going to reply to you at all because you keep bombarding me but since it's my area of study and you are wrong....

Contracts are written by humans and can be dissolved if the humans on both sides of the contract agree. There is no labour contract where one party must fulfil the contract against their will without any legal recourse, as it's slavery which is illegal. Usually if one party unilaterally breaks contract there is a penalty but mutual agreement to end the contract is more common if there is no dispute.

Even in normal jobs you can mutually agree with your boss to dissolve your employment contract if you aren't suitable for the job after 2 weeks. All you need to do is talk to them. Or if your spouse moves abroad and you agree to follow them you can tell your employer and they may let you go even if they want to keep you, because humans have empathy and contracts aren't ironclad.

(Why do a lot of posters here use Broken English? It's very hard to understand)

"if she wants to star with popular actors” can you read it in full? I think she should get first billing in her dramas if the lead actor is a newbie, but the plot/script won't be great too.

Lusi fans are always suggesting she star with Cheng Yi, Dylan Wang etc but that's not possible because they too want 1st billing and have big or bigger fandoms.

What agenda? People need to be less thinskinned Jesus you can't even neutrally discuss a drama, IMO only Lusi fans should watch and rate this, no neutrals 🤷‍♀️

Where did I say it's doing badly, I said "only AJTL is ahead" lol. You should be more worried about the rating on MDL, Douban is more harsh usually and MDL is usually very generous

Right I didn't realise you guys are so upset about the "filming for 2 weeks" and have edited to "quit last minute after agreeing to film" because it was reported that he quit only after arriving to film the drama in Hengdian and Wang Anyu came in last minute to "save the set" (i.e. he shouldn't be blamed too much if the ML role is unpopular since he saved the production) or they wouldn't be able to film. All I did was explain this because the ML role is not favored by anyone but if Wang Anyu didn't do it, there wouldn't be a drama at all. He isn't going to gain many fans off such a role though.

Apparently my criticism of the show has riled some folks up lol

It's funny how I saw @eternalsummer comments under SOKP talking how that drama not successful, and now here again,…
??? what did i lie about, I said JBR was initially casted but Wang Anyu is a lot better because he is young and looks convincingly foolishly no? People keep complaining about the ML but Jing Boran would have been worse imo

SOKP was successful and AJTL is successful too, I watched both mostly. I like both Bailu and Cecilia Liu, even if there were elements in SOKP worth criticising like the ML's overpowering behavior, they both did well.

Lusi wants 1st billing and the story to revolve around her, not equal billing... If you have equal billing it won't be a storyline biased to the FL and would be more equal too. Thing is Xiaozhan, Cheng Yi, Arthur Chen, Wang Yibo, Leo Luo, Dylan Wang etc have enough clout to carry a drama on their own too and they will look for less popular pretty young FLs who are even trained from drama school like Sun Zhenni, Song Zuer, Wang Churan, Tian Xiwei but will accept 2nd billing because they are less famous than the ML.

Likewise Lusi will probably look to star with actors around her age or younger (He Yu, Guo Juncheng, Zhou Yiran etc) because someone more senior or popular will refuse to play her orbiter ML if you know what I mean :) if the plot is good the public will watch, if it isn't her fans can hard carry it and watch it themselves like Ju Jingyi dramas.

Title The Last Immortal Spoiler
Thanks for the heads up. I wanted to watch this for the leads (especially ZLS) but delayed upon seeing the low…
He is weak, lazy to upskill, mistakes the evil 2nd FL to be his savior and kills the FL in ep 1 because he wanted to get some stone as a gift for the 2nd FL (i had to re-watch this to understand it, the plot barely makes sense), then she reincarnates and he kills her again due to some misunderstanding and she becomes bitter i guess. So the ML is the major plot driver but in a negative way.

I already said the Wang Yibo rumor is silly and fake. Yang Xiaopei dramas aren't some high budget production that he'd be interested in (especially seeing TLI's quality) when he's doing movies with Tony Leung lol

It may explain why the rating is low? It's like a vehicle for the FL but not a good drama like AJTL where the side cast is likeable too. Fans will like it but the public will not, like Ju Jingyi dramas. Lusi wants to be 1st billed in all future works so she will likely only star with actors who are less popular/newer than herself e.g. Wang Anyu, Liu Yuning, He Yu, Chen Zheyuan etc and their role will be "lesser" than hers or written to be worse. That's not something that helps the drama's plot but it helps her popularity and fanbase I guess.

In LLTG she was 2nd billed for instance, if her fans want her to star with popular actors like Leo Wu, Dylan Wang, Xiaozhan, Cheng Yi, Wang Yibo, Athur Chen etc she would need to give up 1st billing. Ultimately she needs to pick better scripts lol

Uhhhh he didn't give it to Wang Anyu, he doesn't have the power and is just an actor not a casting director. The producers did that.

There was rumors that Jing Boran quit and left the set because he was unhappy with not being first billed https://youtu.be/OY8YmmkxFEs but now you can understand that he probably thought the role was unsuitable or unfavorable for him. Lol @ the silly Wang Yibo rumors, if he joined he would definitely demand first billing as a movie actor and he would never take a FL-centric drama where his role is merely to help her gain sympathy in the first place anyway
On The Last Immortal Dec 14, 2023
FYI Gu Jin's original actor is Jing Boran who quit last minute after agreeing to film but I see why, the ML role has 0 upside and is downright dislikeable so most actors will not want to do it. Wang Anyu came at short notice to "save the set" aka 救场 so he's done well, his age helps in portraying Gu Jin's foolishness.

Chinese audiences have seen all types of Xianxias so TLI's production feels too "assembly line" and isn't very unique, all the tropes are meant to push the FL played by Lusi (saves ML, dies due to ML, is cute when reborn, then gets hurt by ML again) over the ML but audiences won't like a show without a good CP and the ML is not likeable. For a show to be good both leads need to be likeable; in China especially, the FL determines if a drama's 1st few eps will be watched but the ML determines if a drama goes viral e.g. romance or fight scenes on Douyin. I can see why Lusi took this role i.e. her character is the only likeable one in the show, but it's so deliberate that the drama is a vehicle for only her that it's hard to watch, none of the side characters is compelling? On the upside neutrals aren't really arsed to criticise TLI, it's mostly just apathy so only Lusi fans will watch which may help the ratings.

The contrast is interesting how this show is loved in China and Internationally people hating on it for the most…
The show isn't loved in China, a lot of earlier vlogger's reviews are calling the plot illogical and typical or boring for xianxia. The ML isn't really attractive too.

Still most people aren't really arsed to criticise TLI for being meh, there's just an air of apathy so in time the only people talking about it will be the fans and those who like it, perhaps that will help the ratings?
