His blood is extremely poisonous due to all the crap Xiaoyao makes to poison him, so he needs to suck the poison out too. He sleeps next to her every day, talks to her, keeps her warm and she can feel it and hear him although she can't respond. Years later when they hang out again she sees a mercouple mating in a clamshell and gets embarrassed when recalling the years she spent with Xiangliu in the clamshell. I am actually wondering how they will portray all of this LOL

Even as Fangfeng Bei he does go on dates with her a lot, in fact the book describes how patient Bei is when shopping with Xiaoyao and helping her pick dresses, makeup, accessories so Xiaoyao thinks it can't be Xiangliu because his personality isn't the same.

Xiangliu met the real Fangfeng Bei in the North Pole who was dying and made a deal to assume his identity and go home on his behalf to take care of his old mother, a mistress in the Fangfeng clan. The real Fangfeng Bei left home early in his teens due to his low status and led a wandering lifestyle, so when he was dying he had his friend Xiangliu assume his identity since his family did not see him for a long time. Fangfeng Bei can't marry Xiaoyao because he is not the official first wife's child in the Fangfeng family unlike Yiying his half sister.

I'm not sure if the show changed it since Yiying was trying to get Xiaoyao to meet her brother Bei in a recent trailer.

Yes she meets her parents very briefly in the saddest chapter of the book, it's very sad.

Fangfeng Bei will try to assassinate someone in the palace and get injured, so he ends up hiding in Xiaoyao's room and needing her blood to heal

She said he's pretty introverted but well spoken irl like Jing, he just loves being fashionable and cool

The title Lost You Forever primarily refers to Xuan missing the FL and his quest for power to protect Xiaoyao, in one recent episode he realises Xiaoyao's mum told him to protect her because she is illegitimate and that kickstarts his determination to become Emperor and unite the 3 kingdoms so nobody can accuse Xiaoyao of being the daughter of the enemy kingdom and exile her. Most of the unpleasant things he does like marrying a bunch of women he doesn't like, declaring wars, using and hurting Jing is down to wanting to unite the warring kingdoms for Xiaoyao's sake but every move he makes takes him further away from her.

The Chinese title 长相思 literally means Forever Missing You, if Jing was the ML the title would be 长相守 or Forever Staying Together. The secondary reference of Lost You Forever is Xiaoyao missing Xiangliu too.

I don't think she recognised Xiangliu at all lol and it's possible that he was trying to test if Xiaoliu likes women (big fat no), but yes Xiaoyao should get how men think on a different level having had a male body. It's one of the interesting tropes the book doesn't explore e.g. when Xuan was gawking at her she was way too demure

It's a scripted TV drama 🤭 everything is scripted and open for interpretation. Do you think ancient women especially a self-described demoness fall onto men's laps by accident? It's a typical trope that fox or snake spirits seduce men that way 🤭 but Xiaoyao was unseduced lol

The boat shook a few times because he made it shake, Xiangliu definitely fell on her lap deliberately because he was observing at her stare at the couple with a weird expression and even sarcastically said "Are the fireworks such a bother to look at?" but she didn't reply and kept staring (the couple reminded her of Jing & Yiying, she envied Yiying & that lady's nice dresses and told Xuan she wanted to wear a dress once she went back) so Xiangliu plopped down on her lap because he can feel the loneliness in her heart.

When she got off the boat he even went "Think of those who miss you, if they feel sad you will feel sad too" referring to himself and the voodoo love bug transmitting emotions 🙃

On the boat scene: Xiangliu could sense she was lonely and envious of the loving couple on the bridge, thus he fell onto her lap to try to let her feel less alone 😆 and said "We are compatible like that couple you were admiring" but when Xiaoyao didn't reply in the affirmative he got annoyed and dropped her off.

I'm not sure why he expected her to say they were compatible when he was disguised as a woman😭😭😭

ANian's tantrum is a plot device. The writer needs Anian to be mad at Xiaoyao so Xiangliu can make a deal to help ANian tomorrow in return for a favor that is important at the end of the novel.

Xiaoyao likes XL but will never show it as she is deeply insecure due to childhood abandonment issues, so she only dares to like someone who is proactive with their love like Jing who says it out loud time and again. XL can also feel that Xiaoyao loves Jing deeply because of her heartache when Jing is hurt or when she can't be with him.
Xiangliu does the most for Xiaoyao but it's always hidden or disguised like today's female getup because XL knows unlike Jing he can't promise her anything as someone who fights guerilla wars against her country. He loves her but he's committed to leading his troops plus Xiangliu and Xiaoyao getting together will be a repeat of her mom and her bio dad, there's a very strong Bad Ending chance.

He deliberately planned a boat date to see fireworks and prepped giant prawns bc Xiaoyao likes them, or else he'd fly on his bird. Even that boatman was in on it and told Xiaoyao to sit closer to the centre and stop standing up lol

Yes it explains why he would go scheme with Anian to push her into the sea, that is so mean lol
