Sigh • Trin is Thai, from a very affluent family, who studied abroad in France during the Cold War and returned…
Wow, you're asking if they've flashed out the aim of the characters and other developments when we're only on ep2? And you're asking how they're going to achieve freedom? Really? Haven't you gotten what the protest was all about? Those are buildups to how these characters plan to achieve freedom. And also, now you DO agree that Shine DOES have a plot?

I'm sorry. I just find it weird how you needed someone to spell everything out for you to finally see what the plot of Shine is about, as well as answers to all the other questions you presented, when you claim to be a film professor, and many of us who aren't professors got them right away after watching two episodes.

Thanks for the questions and I appreciate them. But I'm sorry, I'm no longer interested in this conversation. Hope you have a nice day and perhaps enjoy Shine if you continue to watch Ep3.

Lol nice try with your insults. I don't care much about BOC and this is only the second drama from them I'm watching. If you still think Shine doesn't have a plot, then fine. I respect your opinion even though I still don't agree. Have a nice day.

I honestly don't know anymore what kind of "plot" or "story" you're looking for. And it's funny you say you're a film professor because my film professor, who also has a PhD, would not have said the things you've said.

And the things you mentioned about what makes a "plot" or "story"? Based on what I was taught, what I've seen from the first two episodes of Shine clearly explained it. Not just the plot itself, but also the paths for each character.

Even from the first episode when Trin and Tanwa were slightly debating about what Neil Armstrong said, that also hinted at the theme of this drama.

With all due respect, perhaps this would be a good chance for you to reassess your definition of a plot and story. Or even better, have your students watch this drama and have a class discussion to see what everyone thinks. That would be fun and interesting.

Edit: I replied to your comment before you edited it, and perhaps you should reread the plot I initially gave you. I didn't even mention the year it was set in. I know that's just a description of the setting. That's why my answer was—People from different classes fighting for freedom. It's exactly the same as the example you gave me—Three woman robbing a bank.

If you want it exactly in the same pattern as your example:

The story takes place between 1969-1971 as an economist, free-spirited hippie, a closeted journalist and colonel, and a poor student try to pursue freedom because they live in times of oppression, so this is a story of their journey.

I also beg to differ that Shine has bad storytelling. There are many ways to tell a story, and they don't have to always follow the same template. Writers are also artists who are allowed to think out of the box. If every story follows the same pattern, then where's the fun in it? You may write award-winning stories, and people who award you acknowledge that. I acknowledge that too even though I have no idea what you've written. But just because someone else writes a story in an unconventional way, or in a way that's different from yours, it doesn't make it bad storytelling.

A simple google could easily answer your question though:

"The series explores the clash of ideals, love, and the pursuit of freedom during a time of restricted freedoms and growing dissent against the military dictatorship."

It's even hinted in the synopsis here. To put it very, very, very simply, this story is about people from different classes fighting for freedom. Aim: Fight for freedom.

Listening to the OST while painfully waiting for the next episode. Absolutely love the first two episodes, but after properly listening to the OSTs, I'm in love with the soundtrack even more!!!! It's SO GOOD!!!

Watched the first two episodes and I love it so much!!! This really feels like a mature production, and I don't mean mature as in "explicit content", but the level and quality of the cinematography, script, and characters. This isn't the type that's just for teenagers to squeal at, but one with a real-world problem, and characters that are layered and convincing. The acting is also amazing!!! Each character also feels like an onion that reveals a different side as you keep watching. I'm so intrigued by each character.

Mile and Apo definitely look cute together no matter what, but I'm absolutely in love with the total change of vibe and how different their characters are this time. You can really feel their skills maturing even more since KinnPorsche.

Also that ending with Lert and Naran!! I did not expect things to escalate. Hahahah I thought the enemy plot was gonna brew a little more to build up more tension first. I guess there's no time to waste since we only have 8 episodes. Lol.

Was really excited for this series but did not know what to expect even after watching the trailer. And the first two episodes definitely nailed it. Episode 1 was a little slow in building up, but I also appreciate the slower pace because there was a lot of information to take in.

Really, really love this series so much already and hope more people like it and see how amazing it is!

Ok these last 2 episodes confused me a bit, was Tada also from the "past life" too??? If yes why did he…
I don't think he did. But since he was the one who wished for a second chance, and basically started this reset for Armin, it's more like he's getting deja vu because of it?

Pond and Peterpan definitely delivered in their roles. The kisses and sweet moments between Tada and Armin were always so dreamy and beautiful. Always loved how gentle they were with each other. There were definitely flaws, but I'm gonna let go of all that because Armin and Tada's moments alone made up for it. I'm just so glad we got a happy ending, otherwise I'd be flipping tables. And last but not least, shout out to Wenai, the MVP!!

Omg, I was thinking of starting this but I really hate the poisoned ML troupe. 😞 does it look like he might…
I really hope so! Guess I'm just gonna wait till more episodes air first so that I can binge it. At least I can fast forward through the pain if the writer really decided to give him a sad ending 😣

Thanks for replying!!

This girl needs to go off the grid.. and I don't mean to film some weird reality show . I mean as in social media…
This isn't just about walking away from it though. She's still gotta carry on paying those penalties when the agency should've been taking responsibility. She's trying to fight for what's right and refusing to be bullied by the agency.

And how do you know if she's not getting any real therapy? Afaik, Lusi rarely takes things to socmed like this. And now that she's doing it, it really feels like a last resort and she's tired of playing nice. The agency is sly. They're cornering her knowing there's nothing much she can do.

Plus, if Lusi still loves acting and still wishes to fight for a chance to continue her career as an actor, then I don't see what's wrong with her decision to bring this to light and fight for justice. If she stays silent now, she's only giving the agency a chance to not only bleed her dry but also end her career.

So basically she renewed her contract with them in 2023, and after she fell ill in 2024, the agency agreed to take responsibility. But up till now, they haven't taken any responsibility and Lusi has been paying the penalties out of her own pocket for canceling brand endorsements and cutting down on filming. All of which should've been paid by the agency.

It just seems to me that the company is shirking responsibility and doesn't wanna pay, so they keep giving her excuses and stalling. In their statement, it also feels like they're lowkey threatening her to keep her mouth shut or they'll have her blacklisted.

The company just screams shady. I stand by Lusi. Whatever her decision is, I just want her to be happy and healthy. I hope she's also getting the support she needs from her friends and family.

I'm on episode 9 right now and I still can't understand the 2nd ML's obsession with the ML.It doesn't seem like…
Omg, I was thinking of starting this but I really hate the poisoned ML troupe. 😞 does it look like he might get a cure anytime soon though? I've had enough with poisoned MLs not getting a cure and dying in the end. 😣

Final ep better be way over an hour long, and be a happy ending. I will only accept an open ending if they guarantee us a second season. And I reject a sad ending. No sad ending, please.

Where are all the people who were saying Tada might have been the one behind Armin's death?! 🤨I knew my boy…
I actually thought of Tada being the culprit for a split second too 😂 like what if another him traveled back from a future timeline because in that parallel universe, they actually were together but Armin betrayed him, so Tada wanted revenge. But on second thought, the likeliness of Tada wanting Armin dead is low, let alone Armin betraying Tada. Both of them are likelier to take their own lives first before taking each other's.

I really hope it's not a future Tada though. Because that would ruin Min and Tada's sweet love story. Haha

Since previous ep, Tada's been getting these flashbacks of Min's death, and it felt more like it hit him out of nowhere. But this ep, I'm not sure if he's getting more flashback memories of his past life, which he didn't remember, or he's actually recalling them because he traveled back just like Armin.

I remember in the pilot episode or trailer? I think it was the pilot episode, Armin said something to Tada about his death happening because of him, and he was mad at Tada. I don't think we've seen that happening, right?

What will happen to Armin? There's no way he's gonna reset a second time with only 1 episode left?? Unless that episode is 2 hours long. Hahaha. Whatever it is, I really hope we get a happy ending, please...
