Perhaps it's due to cultural differences or maybe just a difference in individual perspective. I get where you're coming from, but to me, if things happened the way you mentioned, it'd just be a cookie-cutter scene to portray a mother and son's "touching last moment". And that wouldn't have the same impact as the final cut that we saw, and wouldn't carry the same meaning in their relationship.
The son already knew about the baby before he even got closer and tried to kill them. There was no time for the mother to make the son hesitate further because the son would do anything to make sure he could survive and leave with his mother. Dropping the knife meant he'd break his promise too. Time was running out and chances of the son dropping the knife was low. The mother wasn't gonna risk her son killing the young girl or baby, hence the decision, or more like reflex action.
I feel that the writer's intention was to portray how much the mother and son loved each other, and how they were really good people. In the previous season, the son had abandoned the mother once and regretted it. That planted a seed of doubt about whether the son really loved his mother or he would do the same again to survive.
The mother would do anything to protect her son, but stabbing him to protect the girl and baby showed that she would never let him become a cold-blooded killer just to survive, even if he was her son. Because she knew it was the wrong thing to do—her son killing the girl or baby, and her letting her son do that. The mother stopped her son before he did something wrong—something both she and her son would regret. That action, to me, shows that she's a good and responsible mother with integrity.
I saw this scene differently. The mother killed her son because she knew her son wasn't someone who would kill,…
Exactly. The whole thing's just so sad but also beautifully done. It just showed how the mother and son were both really good people.
To be honest when the son asked to switch teams with the mother, I was skeptical about him. That's why I felt that there may be a slight chance he'd cave and let his mother sacrifice herself. But then it showed how he really loved his mother and couldn't let her do that, and how much his mother loved him too and not letting him live with that kind of guilt. Even though people might think "how could the mother kill her own son?", I think she didn't fail as a mother and made sure her son remained a good person till the end.
seriously, why did they make the mother kill her son, i don't feel sad about that scene at all, I have a question,…
I saw this scene differently. The mother killed her son because she knew her son wasn't someone who would kill, and she didn't want to see her son turn into some cold-blooded monster who'd kill a mother with her newborn. This is why it hurt the mother even more because she knew her son was a sweet and kind person, but was forced to kill. And in the end, when her son tried to kill, she stopped him before he could.
As much as it pains me, I love the twist because I thought the mother was gonna die for sure, asking the son to kill her. But the way it turned out made things a thousand times more devastating.
True. I guess it really just depends on how you define it personally. But usually these labels are more focused on the main couple.
One of my own example would be Prisoner of Beauty which aired lately. It's considered a HE, but it was a half BE to me. I didn't finish the series entirely happy, if I'm being honest.
Oh, actually quite a few of the c-dramas have been BEs or OEs these last 2-3 years, especially costume c-dramas. Or maybe I just happened to be watching them. Lol. Open endings aren't that bad actually coz to me that means it's not completely a sad one.
For the c-dramas with BE that I can remember now, there's: Such A Good Love, Dominion & Devotion, Snowfall, The Story of Pearl Girl, A Journey to Love. For a recent k-drama, there's Dear Hongrang.
These are only the ones I have watched. There are also quite a few that I chose not to start watching because I knew it was BE, but I can't remember which ones now. I just know there were quite a number from the past recent years.
Oh, thank you for telling me! I really hope they stick to that with the drama. I really can't take anymore BEs these days. It's too mentally exhausting.
I WANT TO BE YOURSThey teased us 3 times for a kiss and then we got it in the preview helpppppp this is too good…
Right?? I've been wondering the same thing! Or maybe.....since he only got to know about Charlie not long before Armin died, he wasn't able to find out about Charlie yet? But it also doesn't make sense. It wouldn't take much effort for Thada to find out about Charlie even before Armin made it public at the awards....
The twist with Thada‘s brother? I stopped watching after ep 1 cause will wait when the whole episodes are out…
Ohhh why did I not think Thiwthit could have been the one who drugged Armin! Now it makes so much sense. Because I just couldn't figure out the motive for Sam or even Pharit. Why would they even go to such lengths? But if it's Thiwthit, then everything tracks. Though I feel that Thiwthit just covets what Thada has. He probably believes that he should be the one having everything that Thada has now. So if he gets rid of Thada, he'd be the sole heir.
Need episode 4 now ;___; and the ending with drunk Armin complaining to Tada was so cute!!!! Armin's just extra cute in ep3, especially the whole part where he's drunk with Auntie and wouldn't let them go. Hahahahah
The first 3/4 of the film made me laugh so much, but I knew a sad twist was coming for sure. And the ending made me cry so much!!!! T^T This was such a great film ❤
I'm so glad this had a happy ending or I'd be shattered! Did not expect the parallel universe theme. Now I get why it was tagged as "fantasy". Lol. It reminded me of the time travel drama that Terrance Lau did.
Also didn't get the English title at first, but when the other lady mentioned the lyric that Tian Yu wrote, I realized it was from Leslie's "A Balloon's Journey"! And imagine....if Leslie were still here and held his tour in 2023... 🥺
But it's interesting how they mentioned Leslie Cheung in this because Terrance Lau also played the role of young Leslie Cheung in the film "Anita".
Do you recommend it well? How was the ending, was it satisfying, was it a good ending, can you give me a spoiler?I…
The ending was really satisfying for me. But I'm not sure what's the definition of your "good ending", but for me it definitely was, though sad and realistic. But if you want to know whether he got his revenge...... . . . He does!!!! And he seriously didn't show any mercy, which was nice. But heads up, a lot of deaths in this show, and some are quite brutal. But the ones who got REALLY brutal deaths deserved every bit of it, so....lol.
I personally enjoyed this show a lot and couldn't stop watching it. So I ended up binge-watching the whole thing in one seating. Exciting, straight-forward, satisfying, no loose ends.
Damn his uncle just died like that…that was too easy
And they made the scene so funny! Lol definitely didn't see that coming. But I guess Chen Pang and Yu Lou would be a bigger threat compared to him. He was just all talk and could barely make any waves.
