I was feeling the same way about the lack of urgency. She only has one evening and she’s strolling about reminiscing?…
Exactly! Lol. I also understand the whole poetical approach, but we didn't even see her having the slightest bit of urgency when every second of it counts, even during those thousand years. And it didn't make sense even more the second time because she only had one day/evening. She even had the mood to look at masks and get one. Maybe it was the direction of the acting in that part. She was too chill that it seemed a bit ridiculous. But yea, like you said, maybe it's just us. Hahaha.
I need the truth about the Cangwu massacre to be out already....Waiting for Bai Cha's lies to be exposed is even more frustrating than watching Hong Ning taking her sweet time looking for Jin Xiu. Like girlllllll we don't have much time, walk a little faster please??? Start looking everywhere!!
I also kinda pity the snakes. They were just loyal servants to their owner and got backstabbed by stupid BC. Ugh.
I love this short drama so much!!! Except for the ending T^T but I guess I'm in the minority thinking the ending for Pei made sense (even though I hate it!). If he didn't kill the midwife, Ning's life and position would be threatened. She hadn't built a strong support in the court yet, so having her true identity exposed would've been a great risk and many people would come for her life instead of his. He didn't want that, so he took the secret with him to his grave.
Though I think Ning also deserved knowing the truth, she obviously wouldn't have continued taking the throne if she found out. But Pei knows she'd be a better emperor than he would, and he wanted her to continue that path without feeling any guilt.
I was reaaaaally hope there would be a way to turn things around. Seeing how Ning ended up all alone really broke my heart. T^T
I despise Bai Cha SO much. You think you love her but you legit murdered her entire family/friends because of…
SAME!!! It makes me sick thinking I pitied him in the beginning. But he definitely gave off obsessive stalker vibes the moment he fell in love with Hong Ning at first sight. I hope Hong Ning kills him off herself when she finds out the truth.
Also makes my skin crawl thinking Hong Ning fell for the lies of someone who murdered her friends and family, betrayed her, deceived her, and is frighteningly obsessed with her. That's just terrifying. Bai Cha is the kind of scary aggressive person every girl and woman are afraid of when rejecting them. None of his actions are justified. He's honestly turned into such a sickening character.
Gotta keep in mind that in this setting, there is no Dao that punishes the ruler of the heavens. I was speechless…
In xianxia dramas, the celestial realm is always the one that's filled with the evilest people. Not to mention they always think they're above everyone else just because they physically are. The celestial beings are always such a pain to watch in xianxia dramas, and the heaven king is often the meanest of all, and the worst parent ever.
Just completed this. Really love it. Love that we've got both FL and ML that are actually smart, and not dumbed down for the plot to move forward. Leads had great chemistry. Both were fun characters. The mystery aspect was solid too! Need to search for theories on the ending!
This just summarised all the thoughts I had. The drama was going so good in the first half but they completely…
Since FL worked with ML for most of his career as a director and was his producer, I'm sure she's developed basic ideas of how to direct and what instructions to give on set. Her directing skills may not be award-winning quality or have a lot of artistic value, but if she could deliver what the clients wanted (which could be very basic stuff), then obviously she could still get the job done. And later on, she was just producing films instead of directing them. So I can overlook this plot hole because it's not entirely impossible.
Not to forget, she had a team of people who had solid skills, like the editor and cinematographer, helping her in the beginning. So even if her directing skills weren't the best, those two could help make the end product look much better.
What really irked me was how she acted like it was HER biggest dream to make that film, when in fact it had been the ML's all along. She did play a part, but it wasn't entirely hers. And the ML didn't even say he'd given up on making the film, he just made a very realistic choice, which the rest of them including the FL all did at some point. This is why I'm so mad thinking about it again. It's just very double standard. I just don't get why the FL was acting all righteous and their friends looked at ML as if he was the biggest betrayer. Daheck did he do??? She always minded that the ML was taking the spotlight, and in the end she chose to steal his script and make it her career. Wow. Thinking about this again just makes me so pissed.
And yes, I agree. If the roles were flipped, people would've hated the ML for doing that and pity the FL. And what the young girl from the present said just solidified this whole weird perception the writer had.
Remember the scene during the meeting in the present, with FL's whole team plus the ML in the room? They were arguing about how the male character in his novel was a jerk, making excuses trying to look pitiful. And then the young guy from the present defended ML, saying it wasn't fair to call him a betrayer. And the young girl said if they made it into a film, viewers would be cursing the ML out. At that point, it just sounded so ridiculous to me, and I knew I was right to question the writer's logic. Basically, the FL is never wrong, and that's just so biased. All the blame had been thrown at the ML, and the FL is the one becoming successful living her dream, while the ML gave up his big dreams BECAUSE of her. Honestly, the ML owed her nothing.
I don't mind flawed characters as long as the story makes sense. But this whole concept making the FL always right just doesn't feel right at all. I'd feel the same too if the genders were switched. IDK, maybe the writer's got a whole misconception about feminism or something.
Again, this is a biography, based on the two original writers' lives
Even so, it doesn't change my opinion about the characters. While I can understand the cultural and generational differences, it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. If this was closely based on the writers' lives, then it only further means that I disagree with their perspectives as well.
how can you still think this is heaven after the orientation speak and how the hell did fl get to this place with…
It's the intention behind those actions that matter more. Just like people who curse aren't necessarily bad people, while those who act all prim and proper could be a rapist or something. That's why on the train, you realize those who get sucked into hell all looked like nice people. But FL gets to go to heaven because even though she's a debt collector, she didn't harm or kill anyone. She was only getting back what was rightfully hers.
On top of that, the rules at the orientation were meant for their time residing in heaven, not what they did in their life before death. But I, too, feel sketchy about this heaven and think it's not as "heavenly" as it seems. It's giving me The Good Place vibes where the good place isn't actually the Good Place.
It's farrrrr from bad. Finished the first two episodes, and it was funny, heartwarming, and sometimes bittersweet. It's an interesting and beautiful story about an old couple who lived a tough life and now they meet in heaven. And besides the leads, there were other touching stories about minor characters too.
This drama is amazing!!!! It's hilarious but also makes you cry buckets the next scene. What's up with the low ratings though? Do people not like it just because of the age gap? It's not even actual age gap though. It's basically just the old man taking on his younger appearance in heaven.
the misunderstanding in the last episode is so unnecessary
I guess I'm the only one who like that she thought it was his kid. This way, they won't get back together. Hahahahah. Watching their relationship was just so frustrating and exhausting in the second half. I think Zhou Shui deserves someone better.
How is the ending guys? Please tell me in detail if possible so that I can decide whether to watch it or not.
I hated the idea of them getting back together because their relationship was just unhealthy to begin with. It's an open ending but I'd like to believe they went their separate ways.
I also kinda pity the snakes. They were just loyal servants to their owner and got backstabbed by stupid BC. Ugh.
