Again, this is a biography, based on the two original writers' lives
Even so, it doesn't change my opinion about the characters. While I can understand the cultural and generational differences, it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. If this was closely based on the writers' lives, then it only further means that I disagree with their perspectives as well.
how can you still think this is heaven after the orientation speak and how the hell did fl get to this place with…
It's the intention behind those actions that matter more. Just like people who curse aren't necessarily bad people, while those who act all prim and proper could be a rapist or something. That's why on the train, you realize those who get sucked into hell all looked like nice people. But FL gets to go to heaven because even though she's a debt collector, she didn't harm or kill anyone. She was only getting back what was rightfully hers.
On top of that, the rules at the orientation were meant for their time residing in heaven, not what they did in their life before death. But I, too, feel sketchy about this heaven and think it's not as "heavenly" as it seems. It's giving me The Good Place vibes where the good place isn't actually the Good Place.
It's farrrrr from bad. Finished the first two episodes, and it was funny, heartwarming, and sometimes bittersweet. It's an interesting and beautiful story about an old couple who lived a tough life and now they meet in heaven. And besides the leads, there were other touching stories about minor characters too.
This drama is amazing!!!! It's hilarious but also makes you cry buckets the next scene. What's up with the low ratings though? Do people not like it just because of the age gap? It's not even actual age gap though. It's basically just the old man taking on his younger appearance in heaven.
the misunderstanding in the last episode is so unnecessary
I guess I'm the only one who like that she thought it was his kid. This way, they won't get back together. Hahahahah. Watching their relationship was just so frustrating and exhausting in the second half. I think Zhou Shui deserves someone better.
How is the ending guys? Please tell me in detail if possible so that I can decide whether to watch it or not.
I hated the idea of them getting back together because their relationship was just unhealthy to begin with. It's an open ending but I'd like to believe they went their separate ways.
It is a chinese culture that a man should be responsible when started to get a relationship and eventually getting…
And that's why this culture needs to GO. Plus, it's not like FL didn't choose this path herself. If she really couldn't wait anymore, she could just leave the relationship for good instead of forcing ML to become the person she wants.
She agrees with her mom. That's what. But she never wants to admit it outright. She wants to be that cool gf who's nonchalant about these traditional cultures, but truth is, she cares and wants all of it.
Why was it so easy for Dai Da Ji to achieve her new dream of working in film and starting a new company? Zhou…
THIS. That's why I say FL's plot armor was too strong. It just didn't make sense at all. Like how come she got to make the movie in the end when it had been Zhou Shui's dream all along? He was working hard to make it happen as well, but she didn't like the way he went about it, so she beat him to it.
As a chinese film producer who's also an immigrant of a big city, I found the struggles of the main leads somewhat…
The problem wasn't the lack of cultural understanding, in my opinion. I think everyone understands the struggles. It's the traditional views and unreasonable mindset of the characters that viewers find toxic, hence the negative reviews.
Also, am I the only one who's glad it had a BE??? HAhahahaah. I HATED for them to get back together coz FL was toxic as heck.
Also still feeling mad that Zhou Shui didn't get to film his movie in the end, and it was Da Ji who did it. I hated that the 5 ranger team turned their backs on him just because he made a selfish choice. As if they hadn't themselves???? Zhou Shui didn't even turn his back on them when they gave up on their dreams and left back then.
It's just so unfair, tbh. Zhou Shui definitely deserved a much better, happier, and guilty-free ending!!! I don't get why Da Ji still demands an apology from him. In my opinion, Zhou Shui never betrayed her. He agreed to do the movie so that he could hopefully gain more authority to film what he wanted, the way he wanted. Zhou Shui always made her his priority and chose her over his dreams. And it was just this one time, he decided to choose for himself, and she was mad.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the writer screwed up so badly with the characters and that the FL was problematic. I thought I was being biased towards the ML, but the FL's logic just got more and more twisted, I had to second-guess myself every episode. Honestly, I only watched until the end for Wang Anyu's acting.
If you're looking for a mature storyline in a xianxia, this is definitely it. And I mean like, mature thinking, characters, and plot. Not one that's filled with impulsive decisions and young blood. The cast also has solid acting. ML is a little gray, while the FL is such a bad*ss!!!! Kind, but also wise. At first I thought she was too much of a saint and would be naive and gullible. She may be very empathetic but boy can she seriously kick*ss and doesn't put up with bs. She's also really smart and observant! Definitely one of my favorite FLs of all time. Loved the ML's cunningness too. Both leading actors carried their roles so well. It's a slowpaced xianxia, but definitely filled with layers. It's far from boring to me and I enjoyed every episode so much.
