Nope. Don’t say that. Never. Just like what FL parents basically said, he’s too good for anyone outside their family, might as well keep him within the family. “Son and son-in-law is the same thing.”

I feel bad for Do Gyum in ep 4, he can never say no to HJ. He is falling deeper and deeper in love with her. Screw red string of fate. If we think about it, Do Gyum has been on the losing end in every reincarnated cycle. Can’t he win for once? I don’t see what’s special about the ML at all. He is rich and handsome but that’s it.

There is a trade-off... Today BR received its highest viewership ratings so far at 8.7%. People are always saying…
I agree, for ratings purposes sbs split it into two episodes. But if you were to compare to another drama, like healer in the past, I would find the average of the two parts.

Actually the rating average for episode 8 is 7.2 for BR, but I understand your point. I personally prefer a quality drama over a rating success drama.

how did you guys like the pilot episode? i haven't started yet but i wanna know if its worth it.
Worth it. Not a typical romcom. Strong female character.

This is weird, the story barely moved in episode 7 & 8. There is probably like 10-15 minutes of plot and the rest are just fillers and meaningless scenes. Of course the ending of episode 8 has to end in another huge misunderstanding. If only the characters would all use their natural human organ, their mouth, and just communicate. Is it difficult for DH to tell YJ in advance that SB is living at his house? There is not one character in this show who knows how to communicate effectively. I’m beginning to think in the last episode there will be a time jump, because half way into the series, DH & YJ is still together. Weird but okay. Honestly if you think about it, if you remove all the fillers, maybe you’ll get one full episode instead of 8 episodes.

Episode 7 has some touching scenes between SB and DH mom but besides that the quality went down drastically. None of the funny scenes were funny. That cliche fart scene. And dreadlock man is just so perverted with his reimagining of the hospital scene between YJ and SB. When he wag his tongue out and says he’s like a lizard. Gross. He’s not funny. I think it’s kind of lame that the show is making SB move in with DH family. I think that’s what happened at the end. The writing on this show is really disappointing.

HJE is on a roll this year! What an interesting premise and a solid episode! It’s funny and a tear jerker. Sometimes it gives a webtoon vibe but it’s done well unlike Backstreet Rookie. In one episode, it is better than 6 episodes of BR combined(Kim Yoo Jung and Ji Chang Wook should had taken on a drama like this instead) and that’s not including the controversy scenes lmao I hope this show continues to be great. I love the female lead already. The filming and the scenes are beautiful. The engagement scene was so cool to see her love herself!

seems like puppy is not a guest appearance but the 3rd lead.. i kind of felt like YJ is blaming everything wrong…
Like I said on my earlier post, no one really gives anyone a chance to talk all the way through. DH did the same thing when YJ called him. Everyone is so bad at communication in this drama lmao
Ah okay interesting theories, thank you for sharing. I don’t care about age difference. People can be mature if they are 20 or they can be mature at 35. Puppy seems mature and loving , that’s why I ship him with SB and also because he is single lmao. Although YJ doesn’t appreciate DH for who he is at the moment, it does not mean she can’t in the future. Many relationships take time to work. There are dramas out there, where the couple went through the same problems as DH & YJ, but they learn to accept their differences over time. But this show it’s DH & SB ship, so no surprise that the writer is going to mess up DH & YJ relationship in the future lmao

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t YJ witness the scene of SB drinking with DH and their interactions before the bathroom scene? So she already has some ideas of SB beforehand.

You are totally correct. YJ is going too far by blaming everything on SB but SB is a catalyst and is responsible for some misunderstandings. DH made it worse by not telling YJ the truth. YJ is not blameless and deserves her fair share of criticism. Almost every character has their flaws and issues they need to work on. On my last post, I said YJ should apologize to SB. YJ although deserves blame as well, she did not mentioned to SB what she deserves blame for. She should had been more clear and mentioned things like piggy-back riding and other encounters. But she is correct in telling SB to quit. Technically SB doesn’t know about YJ mean mom, and YJ didn’t mention that to SB, so technically she didn’t blame SB for that although her words were very general. I’m curious what will happen now since SB is no working at the store. We already know SB and DH will be together. I hope it happens naturally and that they won’t intentionally seek each other out.
On Backstreet Rookie Jul 4, 2020
In this episode, I realized that lack of communication is what causes problems for almost every character in the show. They don’t share all the truth to one another. They don’t take the time to listen and to speak, and they tend to cut-off each other in the middle of the conversation. Finally, YJ confesses to SB that she is a huge reasoning for the misunderstanding in their relationship and that she should quit working at the store. That’s something a normal girlfriend would tell another women who is getting too close to their boyfriend, beyond a boss-employee relationship. And kudos to SB for listening and finally quitting. Should had quitted long time ago. The CGI on this episode was so strange. Nightmare and fight scene is so awkward. The scene between SB and DH mother was cute. I really dislike YJ mom but now I understand why YJ turned out the way she is being raised by such a stuck-up, rude mother. Honestly YJ and DH is just like any other couple, having their ups and downs. The argument that DH deserves SB because she is a better person is rather weak because you can argue the same thing for any particular person in any relationship in the real world. There will always be someone who could be better for a certain person, there is over 7 billion people in the world. Once DH and SB become a couple in the future, there is bounds to be problems in the future because they’re also not good at communicating with each other. Is puppy not a guest appearance? He’s already in three episodes. I rather ship him with SB. He seems to genuinely love her.

what the hell is going down in this comment section this is not stan twitter for y'all to camp under every reply…
Can you say it louder? I agree, some of the stans of this drama and its actors here need to eat a tray of ice cubes. Have discussions but do not go after people who disagree with you and attack them all over social media. I feel so awful for pranksalot, she hasn’t reply to anything after that incident. I hope she’s doing okay.
On Backstreet Rookie Jul 3, 2020
The piggyback scene broke my heart. YJ wanting a piggyback ride, from anyone, even her own mother. It makes me wonder if she lacked a good childhood growing up in a rich family background. Also you can tell that YJ loves DH. YJ should be honest about the bathroom scene and apologized. Even though it’s not DH & SB fault the photo showed up online, if I was the girlfriend, I would be deeply upset and embarrassed that the public can see the photo. In the beginning of the episode, when she caught them piggyback riding, they acted very guilty when caught and very defensive. You don’t act that way if you’re conscience is clean. It is good DH finally realizes how his interactions with YJ can lead to misunderstandings, so it is good he finally tells SB to social distance away from him and not to cross lines. Although he wasn’t able to talk it out to YJ, he should have sent her an email or text first...and then he should apologize for misunderstanding in person . He needs to comfort his girlfriend who is hurt. No wonder their relationship will fail one day because they both are not communicating their needs and their insecurities to one another. He needs to share how he feel uncomfortable with her affluent background. They both are at fault in that realm. When YJ told SB to just focus on working hard at the store only, SB said she will work hard at the store and other things and YJ reiterated to focus on the store only. It proves that SB is still aiming to win DH even though YJ, his girlfriend warned her to leave her man alone. All three characters have flaws, but the good thing about this episode is at least all three knows what is going on in regards of boundary lines and misunderstandings. They all know that a love triangle exist between the three. No one is in the dark in that knowledge. Why did they increase the airtime of the dreadlock guy? We wanted him gone since episode 1. Okay, that was straight up racism! No one can deny it, he even said to the Nigerian, “we are from the same Jamaican family” and then they both started to dance and sing... what’s going on? Is this for real?
